To those questioning Sifan Hassan's greatness, of course she is an all-time great. She has 3 Olympic medals, 2 of them gold, and 6 World Championships medals, 2 of them gold. She is far and above world class at every distance from the 800m to the marathon. 1:56 all the way to 2:13 is completely bonkers. There may be individual athletes that can beat her at individual distances, but from a holistic view in all distances, no one comes close. I, for one was tickled to see her go to the lead in front of the pacer, because I love to see racing take precedent. First and foremost, the race is a race to the line and not a time pursuit. The implementation of a pacer is to assist those who need times, but it is an informal construct inside a race where the objective to win should still be respected most. That's something we try to cling to at The Portland Track Festival. Respecting just how good Hassan is, I didn't even consider the thought that Elise Cranny could win until she was leading the race in the final laps. Hassan had run 14:34 at the Pre Classic a couple weeks ago, but since mixing into the marathon, she has not displayed the quantity of sharp and devastating results on the track that she has in the past. Part of commentary is to wonder the unthinkable as it comes into the picture. If Cranny had beaten Hassan in Portland, it would have been the result of a lifetime because of Hassan's great stature, and a defining result in Cranny's career which includes many wins on the domestic level and a 14:33 5000m, but not one in a virtual match race of this calibre. Entertaining that thought as they separate themselves late in the race paints a greater picture. It is always a privilege to have Hassan race in Portland, not only because of her all time great status, but because of the unique and fearless way she approaches racing and does what she wants. To those who view the sport through standard-chasing, that can look villainous, but we love it.

Commentator who was clearly biased against Hassan for going out front might want to consider that Hassan knew the pace wasn't enough or too borderline for people to meet the qualifying time standard.
Seeing that only those three ahead of the pacers got inside the Olympic qualifying time might suggest that Hassan knew better than pacers or commentators what to do
Exactly. I’m not suggesting they are racist.. but something was bugging them.. how could you not respect her? I love her!!!!!!!!! In all her interviews she is lovely and adorable.. never not humble
Nice job Sifan Hassan, we all know she can even run much faster than this. No one talking about how Cranny was giving no space at all to Hassan, even tagging her and almost causing a fall at 10:17. She better be appreciative of Hassan doing all the work in this
Muy bien Elice Crany, hizo una estupenda carrera. El tiempo impuesto no ayuda mucho, pues en los olímpicos las medallas se van a repartir entre quiénes bajen de 14'10..
For the folks saying Hassan is washed, please keep in mind that she ran 14:43 and over at the Kenya trials Miss Kipyegon ran 14:46....Is Kipyegon washed too? The argument against Hassan is pure ageism. She's 31, so all the talking heads are predicting her demise. I, on the other hand, say Hassan is competitive in any race for at least 2-3 more years. She'll "retire" to the marathon and be a force in that until about 40. But even at 40, she'll still go sub 2:00 in the 800 meters. Jeff Merrill, you need to give Hassan her flowers. Take her to dinner, bro. Wine her and dine her.
I got a very bad taste in my mouth when this commentator guy started bashing Sifan without reason; she was coming to the front longtime and they didn't say a word about that, then suddenly accuse her of elbowing, what she didn't do at all. Whaaaat A shameless DISRESPECTFUL F***
Sifan Hassan was just too good. She ran the most part all by herself. She is in a class of her own, and the last 100 meters showed she had a lot of energy left. So the record is still not safe. Cranny ran a good race too but in a no way a threat to Hassan.
It's incredible how Sifan fell into a brutal decline, competing with second-tier athletes who are never even invited to a diamond league! the 1500m 5000m is forgetting her in the last meetings she hasn't even managed the podium with some obstacles in between lol, the 10,000 could be the best distance currently for her. I think she's lost her speed since she started the marathon!
The announcer with the high pitched voice seemed to be oozing with bias against Hassan. Sifan Hassan wins comfortably and. announcer eats humble pie! NOT a good look on said announcer.
These announcers are a joke, trying to imply Cranny had a chance to beat Sifan ("she has her on the ropes!" LOL!!). Sifan has previously run this race a full 30 seconds faster than she ran here. Clearly, she was taking a leisurely jog (for her) up til the last 100 meters. None of these women had a chance, as they aren't in her class. The only way she could lose is if she fell, and she would likely still win.
For argument sakes, even if Cranny did have a chance. Still Siffan didnt deserve the way how that commenter was undermining her. Saying things like against the ropes. Acting like siffan was barley in it & just hanging on like some under dog rookie, wasnt right. Say this could be interesting or we just might have a battle on our hands here at the very least. They're not in her class and the announcer is super annoying...
When Commentators are delusional 😂😂😂
One commentator salty AF 😂😂
are the commentators realistically questioning Sifan not having a pacer. She doesn’t care. She lost the pack to pop a stretch in the marathon and still caught the pack and won. She doesn’t care, she’s not human. SIFAN IS THE BEST ❤
5:13 "Sifan Hassan, out there doing Sifan Hassan things" ....righteous commentary!🤣😆🤩
No it isn't. Sifan's "thing" is to hang out near the back or middle of the pack for most of the race. These commentators know nothing.
Did Elizabeth Leachman not finished?
Well done sifan❤❤
Go Sifan 🏆
Oh Hassans just warming up..
This is literally my high school
Yeah, well literally is jus' tha' funnest adverb to sprinle aroun' literally..
My mom Class of 36!
@@MillicentSquirrelHole ?
They're lucky kipyegon wasn't here.....but Hassan handled the assignment well
He you don't talk about our girl like that.
Commentator who was clearly biased against Hassan for going out front might want to consider that Hassan knew the pace wasn't enough or too borderline for people to meet the qualifying time standard.
Haters gonna hate 😂 Sifan be a legend
Seeing that only those three ahead of the pacers got inside the Olympic qualifying time might suggest that Hassan knew better than pacers or commentators what to do
Exactly. I’m not suggesting they are racist.. but something was bugging them.. how could you not respect her? I love her!!!!!!!!! In all her interviews she is lovely and adorable.. never not humble
Sifan Hassan usually runs from the back. The rabbit must have been slow.
Hahaha true
Nice job Sifan Hassan, we all know she can even run much faster than this. No one talking about how Cranny was giving no space at all to Hassan, even tagging her and almost causing a fall at 10:17. She better be appreciative of Hassan doing all the work in this
Sifan Hassan 👍❤
Why is Hassan running this meet instead of the Euros in Rome?
Bingo! Good question.
Muy bien Elice Crany, hizo una estupenda carrera. El tiempo impuesto no ayuda mucho, pues en los olímpicos las medallas se van a repartir entre quiénes bajen de 14'10..
I don’t care what y’all say, Gabriela (G) had an amazing race!
Felicitaciones Hassan
Commentators are disappointing with their sarcastic comments about Hassan
Just a practice for her
Not ready yet at the top level for Paris... 😢
This is like a training for Siffan . Shame on you commentators
No rabbits here, period for hassan 😅
Sifan is a goat
Commentators praising the mediocre while belittling the more superior runner.
I got a very bad taste in my mouth when this commentator guy started bashing Sifan without reason; she was coming to the front longtime and they didn't say a word about that, then suddenly accuse her of elbowing, what she didn't do at all. Whaaaat A shameless DISRESPECTFUL F***
Why the commentators think crenny could beat hassan they make so much about crenny simple as this she is not in hassan class
Hassan is to strong. Great sportwoman. Shame on the commentator
Viva Sifan! Viva Ethiopia! (no error meant)
Great race!
Too bad the commentators are so terrible.
The commentary is the most bias and unprofessional that I believe I’ve ever heard.
It’s disgusting
Typically US Nationalist Reporter. When Hassan puts on the Tube you viewher30 m behind
Sifan Hassan was just too good. She ran the most part all by herself. She is in a class of her own, and the last 100 meters showed she had a lot of energy left. So the record is still not safe. Cranny ran a good race too but in a no way a threat to Hassan.
I was wondering where Sifan was. Girl you show them real running then come home
Sports commentator, Will, sounds rude, childish and jealous!
Always champ 🎉
The commentators are crap...
its kind of ovius you see how long her legs are
Rabbit wtf never heard that pacemaker??
This American athlete looks green and yellow ha ha ha at the finish line 😅
The high schooler only a sophomore and competing against professional and an Olympic champion? A dream come true. She didn't do as well as she could.
Hassan is far from washed up but she's Damm rude and loses her fans.
The announcer with the high pitched voice seemed to be oozing with bias against Hassan. Sifan Hassan wins comfortably and. announcer eats humble pie! NOT a good look on said announcer.
Cant you just stay at the back.. let one of the white girls win!!!.. wtf ??😂😂😂😂
Are you guys convince cranny is not in hassans class
Another great run by Hassan. Imbecilic commentators.
6:38 6:41
Who are these commentators!!
Sifan Hassan played with them.
Any real track person could see what was getting ready to happen.
Homers stay home.
Ridiculous commentating. They’re knowledge seriously lacking.
Didnt even make the respect mutual. Wtf he’s smoking.
Ha$$an got paid to make Cranny look good 😏✉️
What an incredibly biased commentary, glad they are only making a fool of themselves.
😂 mon no way
These are important events.even if you're not a homey. So please get some announcers with class.
The commentators is bias they have to get 3 cranny to beat hassan you guys talk as if cranny is in sifan class you all shuld be ban from commontating too bias shame on you two
What do u expect from these two men who have no idea that thay are Racist too the core .
With out kenya and🇰🇪 Ethiopia🇪🇹 track is not imprese me!
