This will forever be one of favorite Strictly dances. I'd never properly watched the show before this series and this was the one where I finally decided to try and give it a proper go and see what all the fuss was about , and it was this dance that made me go "Oh wow, I get it". 8 years on, I've never missed a show.

What they don't show is when they go to Zoe (it was when Claudia was off due to one of her children having had an accident) and Zoe asks how far does the green go to and Frankie replies "you don't want to know".

So much credit to Kevin for managing to choreograph a recognizable Tango to this song! Really don't think the pro's get enough credit for their incredible choreography, especially with some of the more "unusual" music choices nowadays.
This always gives me tingles up and down my spine at the end. It was the most amazing dance, song, complete performance I have seen on Strictly.
Wish everyone would shut up about the song/singing. This isn't the X Factor, and it isn't a stage production of Wicked. It's Strictly, and the singers perform exactly as they're supposed to every week.
I also think this song went great with the Tango. It was surprising how well it worked.

Kevin did a great job with the choreography. I think it was very well done- especially for it being a tango- and they definitely deserved the 10. And for everyone bitching about the song- they also have a strict limit in regards to the dance (I think it's like a minute to a minute and a half or even two at most) so they can't do the whole song- if they did, that would go into other dancers' performance times. It's called editing, and it happens a lot for shows like these. They do the same thing on Dancing with the Stars. If you want to listen to the whole song, go look up 'Defying Gravity' on UA-cam, but stop having a fit about this. As a musical theater major, I never thought I'd say this, but this isn't Broadway or West End; this is Strictly. Get over it.

This is on my links bar, with their first performance to America, their second to La Bamba, along with Somewhere Only We Know, the 5th and Get Happy. The six best performances of the whole series. She takes my breath away. It's a shame that she can't do the tour, because she's the best I've seen over the three seasons I've been watching.

Kevin Clifton was a good choreography on Strictly in he first year he was in the final with Susanna Reid who was a BBC news presenter at the time.

Beautiful dance routine, the best of the night in my opinion (and I'm a Jake & Jeanette fan)! I thought they deserved a few more 10's actually. But why all the negativity over the song choice/singing? Hayley always does a spectacular job and last night was no exception (albeit a slight crack at the end). Also BBC could we have a still/freeze frame at the end with the scoring paddles so we know/are reminded what they scored? Thank you so much.

I'm not too sure how this song works for a tango or a halloween night but the dance was phenomenal. Easily one of my picks to win it.

Dancing very good....singing..oh so bad....such a beautiful song killed!
The singing is briliant. Being able to do all that in her voice is not at all easy, and she has to sing every week, a whole range of new songs. The way she sung it is very admirable, considering she has to learn and perfect this and lots of other songs. The song wasn't killed at all - it was sung very well. It really annoys me to find so many negative comments on her singing, because it shows that you don't really understand the dedication of these singers. Pay a little bit more respect to these people who are very often overlooked.

Was it the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra that covered Defying Gravity Where the singer sang "going to" instead of 'gonna'?

When this episode was on when I was like what 5? After this performance I ran into my playroom and started trying to colour my skin green with a tiny piece of green chalk.

Think Kev did a great job with choreography, not an easy song to Tango to... also Frankie looks a lot more comfortable in hold and can be a bit wobbly out of hold. Overall a good dance though.
Wish they had picked a former Elphie who could actually sing the song well, and what is with the lyric changes/choices?

Who is singing the song? I'm a ridiculous fan of Wicked and recognise basically all of the known stage performers to sing this song, but I didn't recognise it :S
It's Hayley Sanderson. She's one of the vocalists on Strictly (I think there are 5 of them?) and they do all the singing for every dance! She sang this and Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush on the same night and both completely live. Pretty impressive

I love strictly but seriously the singers ruin every song
They're amazing! Every Saturday they have to go and sing all these songs, sometimes twice and they almost never get any praise! This song is sung very well, and it might not be the perfect song choice for a tango but the singers just do it anyway. Their singing hugely enhances the show and strictly come dancing is lucky that it has such committed, talented singers.
Clean out your ears! They're fantastic! Better than half the crap that comes out of the X-Factor.

Have you actually heard her sing other songs? I'm almost certain you haven't, or you wouldn't be saying something like that about her singing. I'm not even sure if you're saying that because you mean it or because everyone else is saying it because if you listen to it closely, you can hear how good this woman is at her job. So don't be rude about it because it's very impressive, and often people pay no attention to the singer's on this show, so to say that she is 'particularly bad' because of one song that is actually very good, you are completely overlooking everything else she does.
they're just not to my taste that's all, especially this song I just think was sung awfully. She can sing, I just don't really like her voice or how she sung this song in particular.

I think the reason Bruno gave the routine a 10 was that the fact he said he came close to tears. So a special experience deserves a special result.
