Barbara Dickson is class---from the time I saw her complete with duffel coat and guitar on her back at the Station Hotel in South Shields in the late 60's early 70's I always knew that was the voice to go well into the 2000's and beyond---She has given Elaine Page a new career by carrying her on songs and no matter what she does--she is a living legend !!!!!
Given Elaine Paige a new career and carried her? Barbara is terrific, but Barbara did not contribute to Elaines's career. She was a top West End star when she sang this duet with Barbara, and continued as the leading lady in several more shows in the West End and on Broadway. She still tours to this day, to packed out audiences. Elaine's career never died!
@@roxbrolady Fine - but Dickson is a truly great singer. She has a unique gift. Her glorious soaring vocals are a joy. Superb tone and pitch. Along with two Olivier awards she is also a fine musician - guitar and piano - and songwriter. Elaine is great but she is simply not in the same class as Barbara Dickson.
@@stephaniestj5237 they were both great singers, but Elaine Page was by far the more prolific of the two. Sadly in recent years Barbaras voice has not retained its clarity unlike Elaine's. Both great singers though.
This had me in tears. I've just finished reading the third and final part of Paul's autobiography - I read the first two years ago and saw the third in our library last week. He was such a lovely man - success came to him quite late in life and his journey to the top is so interesting, eye opening and hilarious. He was such a hard worker and writes so well too. I miss him even more now. RIP Paul xxx
