One of my favorite stories about O Sensei was from Trevor Legget who was studying karate in Japan and riding the subway when another rider began assaulting others. Legget, wanting to use his striking skills, pushed his way through the crowd and found the violent man lying on a seat with his head in O Sensei's lap, crying, as the great master stroked his hair like a child. Legget was embarrassed by his lack of ability and judgement in comparing himself to the great master.
It is a real martial art, just not one that is useful for self defense. Just because something is bad at one thing doesn’t take it’s ability to be something else away. Martial arts is about the discipline and study. To grown oneself spiritually mentally and physically. Aikido is a phenomenal method that many top martial artists claims is the “perfect” martial art. We just can’t keep up with the movements as humans but the actual martial art is real. You just have an odd sense of reality if you think the only thing you need for war is a good fighter.
@@suddenlydecent8686 I completely agree hence why I said if you are "learning Akido for self defense". It is definitely a martial art and I'm sure is very good for discipline and spirituality. Just not good for hand to had combat and defending yourself which I would argue is the main point of a martial art over something like tai -chi.
I'm still learning how to use a jo, so for me, this looks so amazing!
Martial and spiritual genious.

If you are learning Aikdo for self defense, please re-evaluate and look into real martial arts. That is all, peace!

Anyone who downs this doesn't realize it's literally the same as all others just shown different.
