Single turbo BMW M4 GT4 conversion at Laguna. F8x track record set

  • This was the second visit out to Laguna seca with the 4N GT4 build. I am still running the stock rear F8x E diff and as you can see I am constantly fighting this car from the center off. All in all it was a great day of testing I ended up setting a new PB time. I was able set the track record for the F8x chassis 1:36.2. The GPS data was uploaded and posted on fastestlaps.com
    Next year I will be testing a different tire and going with a Drexler clutch type differential. I think between those two I can shave a few more seconds off.

      It’s called diff whine….they are using solid mounts and the car is stripped out..
      I can hear the similar sound in my M3 but not so loud because I have not removed my rear seats..

    If you guys listen closely you can hear the diff making a metal screech sound under Accel. I think the factory clutches in the E diff are toast 😅

    yea I think it's time for a diff upgrade. I'm going with a Wavetrac diff myself on my 1 series

    Loved this! If I may ask - how is a single turbo vs a twin turbo on track? I'm wanting to turn my G80 M3 into a single turbo for better sound and bigger power, but all my friends are saying I'm going to hate the lag despite going for a quicker spooling turbo (PTE 6870). I'm almost at an intermediate level (IMO at least) on track and do track days solely to compete against myself and have fun - would I hate it? It looks like the F82 here is quick and a weapon, I'm sure it's also fun? Care to weigh in? Cheers!

      ⁠​⁠@@johns.1898i think they are two very different options. M4 is a mostly practical more luxurious car and the supra is a lighter weight and cheaper. The supra is 200lbs less than an M2… that’s pretty good lol (and I mean the real M2 not this new ugly duckling that weighs 4000lbs with you in it).

    How is the front end feeling of the steering with the GTMORE setup? Can you actually feel any of the road surface through the EPS? Or is feedback about the same as stock (completely numb)?

    How much are you making on just 91/93 pump? I want to buy one of your systems for the F80 but my nearest E station is an hour away😅

      We just had a car make 630whp on 93 with just water injection. My guess on 91 octane safely would be around 550whp

    what tuning software are you using and any particular reason over other options?

      We are using MHD for tuning! They were the first to release single bank logic for the 02 sensors makes the 02 sensors last longer in the downpipe for single turbo conversions.
      Also we have been using WedgePerformance who specifically uses the MHD platform.

      With the 4N GT kit and the EFR8474 it’s very close to upgraded pure or kratos turbos. Since I kept the manifold twin scroll it really helps with response off the corner and spool up.

      At the moment yes. But in the near future I am looking at installing a hydraulic power steering rack with a faster gear ratio. Stock ratio is very slow. The smaller steering wheel does help.
