Apparently this gun was created internally at DICE to prove to a dev that snipers did have bullet drop. And now we get it…
it was actually just a troll on the community essentially mocking the community who say snipers dont have any bullet drop.
nothing says bullet drop like a martini henry with a scope.

I don't like the bayonet because of how inconsistent it is. I've lost count on how many times I've ran into people with it and just slid past them.

dont equip it just use regular martini henry, thats what i did because i would do random bayonet charges when i want to take my melee weapon out

Hate this "quest", right now I have 13/25 kills with AT mines...and it pisses me off, that in 3-4 times when I am on Amiens I don´t get a single kill...and in other one I get 6 kills from 2 vehicles, then 2 weeks nothing, they should have put 25 AT rocket kills instead. Other Challenges are much easier (even Limpet Charge, multikills are not that hard).
JAMCENTRAL GAMING You're kidding right? Just go into Conquest and lay down all three mines in a close triangular pattern on a road somewhere, then do it again somewhere else after several minutes or after someone drives over the mines and dies a fiery explosive death. You'll get that part of the quest done easily like that.
just the sound of the martini firing from the player perspective makes it one of the best guns in a game.

The Bayonet Charge misses 95% of the time. So I removed all the bayonets from my guns.
Same here, there was even one time that I tried to do it on one of these mountains on Sinai Dessert near A and B, and I ran near the enemy and fell of the mountain. . .

Every time is used it, I passed through the guy. I only remember killing like 2-3 guys with the bayonet charge in my 80 Hours of play (Level 80).
I don't have much trouble with its accuracy. But it desperately needs a unique button for its activation. Every time I try to melee someone while running I just bayonet charge and get killed easily without getting a hit in. It's making me not want to use the bayonet at all.

I don't know what you're talking about when you say the bayonet charge needs to be nerfed. On console, 80% of the time it just dodges around the person. And added health my ads, I did quicker when I charge. Maybe they could only nerf it on PC?

So LvlCap said the target should be somewhere on your screen to get him killed with charge, I sometimes wonder If he is actually playing Battlefield 1 not some parody of it, many charges fail badly, even I experienced them go trough enemy without killing shit, idk, I guess we play 2 different games.

The Martini Henry Sniper is crap. It's a close range sniper with a long range scope, and when you use it for close range, the scope glare keeps revealing your position. It's only usable when the enemy does not notice your presence. I got way more kills with the Infantry variant consistently.
Maybe if your screen is small and you can't see shit with the iron sights then you may prefer the Sniper variant, but I don't see any real reason to use the Sniper variant.

this is bs, when I bayonet charge someone and I basically run inbetween their arm and waist, I miss 90% of the time
I recently found that while trying to get 300 kills for the sniper variant, getting close enough to shoot once with a sidearm and then quickly finishing with the Infantry variant is very effective as this goes around the 90 through 99 damage range.
It would have been really cool to see a Martini Henry Carbine with an optical sight instead. Because it still is useful as a short range rifle, but with the optical sight, you can extend your effective range a bit further through a much clearer sight and also 2.50x magnification
No marksman optical are so useless

That has literally never been my experience with the bayonet rush, 50 percent of the time I literally just run right pass the person I am trying to bayonet

Its funny how real world experience plays really well in this game as I had few issues doing head shots with iron sights. Once I figured out the Henry is most lethal at closer range then others all you have to do is place the post on their head and boom. My kill counts are through the roof with this gun and I can't get enough with it its just to much fun to play with.
I'd love to shoot the real thing, that would be sweet.

The big stub on infantry sniper rifles is why I like the Lebel Infantry. It's iron sights come to a pin so it's much easier to see targets at range

I just completed all of the weapons challenges for four classes. Man there were so many frustrations with the sniper challenge, but it taught me to be a more patient shooter.
dude got 25 kills with charge attack easily and while i was trying to unlock martini henry sniper it took me 2-3 weeks and in that period i hated this game but it was worth it

Not a massive history buff but some real life context for the martini-henry is that it hails from a different time. The Martini-Henry is a Blackpowder single shot rifle with a massive flat nose or round ball bullet I don't remember which. the bullet is slow with tons of stopping power and while it can snipe it was never used like that as most national armies of the time never gave their rank and file troops optics and while it has a technically long effective range the average trooper can't shoot effectively at ranges over 300 meters without an optic. Also due to the bullet not being a pointed round (also called Spitzer bullets) the bullet trajectory is far different from an Enfield or an 1895 and the like. By the time WWI started most of the first world nations had already switched to multi-round bolt action rifles so I'm not entirely sure why anyone would still be using Martini-Henry's it would be like if tons of German troops still used Geweher71 (the German single shot bolt gun). But it's a game so I won't be drilling dice for adding the rifle. Just wanted to provide some context as to why the martini-henry is a much different beast than what would of been modern rifles of the time.
In bf1 I got the longest sniper shot from across the map with the red haze it was the desert map with the castle

I use the martini for long range anti-camping, what I do is take the trench periscope, zoom in, find their range, and sight in my rifle, then you will easily hit people from long range.
I started using the Martini Henry with the new DLC, and my kills with my pistol went from around 300 to 650 with around 700 Martini Henry kills. I don't always get 1 hit kills, but I can finish a guy off with my pistol 3/5 times if I hit them once but don't kill them. It's a lot of fun

I'm glad to see PC bayonet still works. It's absolutely buggy on PS4. There's been many of times an invisible person charges me or I can't connect with the charge. There was also a time where someone charged at me I dodged, I saw the smoke coming from his gun and heard his bullets. But somehow he ended up behind me. They didn't even show him when I died. This game was murdered with each patch. The latest just put it out of its misery.
I think a marksman varient would have been better.

Honestly, I don't get mad when I get bayonet charged. It's very easy to dodge and sometimes you can shoot them dead before they get close.
Being a sniper is just so much more satisfying than BF4. One of the reasons I love being a scout, which I play as scout way more than i used to,

Domination was great for me unlocking the Sniper variant. The flags tend to be sweet spot distances from each other just stick to the back end of your team and pick off enemies as they push or camp for enemies trying to flank your flags. I love the standard martini and its my go to in scout aside from the russian for long distance. But the scope is a fun add for small game mode sniping maps and even frontlines.

here's a helpful tip.... u can use any wep to get the 25 bayo kills. u don't have to use the martini exclusively to get them.
I remember that during the open beta, I posted on the forums that the bayonet charge should've had a nerf. And I got shit on by fanboys defending it, saying I have no skill by not being able to kill people using it and it's a perfect system. -_-
in 200% damage servers the gewer 98 infantry variant is like a martini Henry with a pin point accurate iron sight on it that fires so fast , I literally go on 50 to 70 kills to about 15 deaths at most on average with it.
And man you're really good with Martini Henry even after the nerf.

Nowadays if you bayonet charge someone standing still you’ll just run right past them. Bayonets are way worse than they used to be.

It's the best weapon for objective playing scouts.
Ironically, it's an outdated rifle for ww1, yet it is one of the most appreciated from scouts. Just when u here the sound when u fire it's so satisfying

Funny, my Bayonet charge will completely run into the guy and then go straight around him like he was just a barrel.
Still think this should have the option of a Marksman variant, though I think it would then become too good with that sight. Much prefer a marksman scope to irons or a sniper scope.

Specter_ Deflector my best record with a infantry version is with martini Henry when I hit a 381 meters headshot and that was when there was no martini Henry so I literally did it with iron sights.

Played Amiens, and found a spot(the lonely house near the bridge at D flag next to the field gun) and got 50 kills streak just being there. it has nice spot on the first floor you can kill everyone beyond the bridge and you got cover from all other areas.

My problem is that the Martini was meant for closer engagement (hence the close sweet spot). If the enemy is far enough away that I NEED a scope... it definitely WON'T be the MH that I go to. The slow rate of fire and muzzle velocity is garbage for that purpose. I still love the MH and use it for the sheer joy of it. But the sniper I don't bother with.
I completely agree man, it is a hard gun to use but is unusable really really unusable. I reviewed it over on my channel I couple weeks bad and let me tell you honestly one of the worst guns i used. the infantry version is so great on it's own.
It took a few tries but I got a counter sniper kill at 316 meters with the Martini Henry infantry using radium sights
my tactic for a bayonete charge is to circle the person a few times. If it was noob proof I'd never miss,I land 1/10 charges or so.
I only use the bayonet charge to run away from fire fights when I have low health. It's more like the chicken charge for me lol.
I only have 26 bayonet kills 1 to learn and 25 to unlock the Martini Henry Sniper

1. Integrate operations into the server browser.
2. Conquest large more flags more players more tickets and utilizing the deployment areas on maps that are playable in other game types.
3. 64 player rush with 2 additional mcoms per sector and 2x tickets again utilizing areas on maps that are playable in other game types.
I honestly prefer the infantry variant because its best killing range is close enough to use ion sights.

The only problem is that above like 115 meters with this a headshot deals around 80 damage.
The scope helps a whole lot on the console where it's harder to be precise because of the controller.
DICE: let us put ANY variant on ANY gun! let us use the loadouts we want and not only the one you give us. martini henry marksman/carbine and huot automatic suppressive/telescopic makes so much more sense
Funny, whenever I use the bayonet charge, I can only kill the guy if I place that little circle on him, witch means most of the time all I do is sprint past the enemy like I'm trying to break a world record or something, eventually getting myself killed
Doing this assignment really made the martini grow on me but I still prefer the m95 and smle for close range, the 1895 for medium, and the g98 for long range. I will take this over the 1895 trench and the lebel

What I like to do is to start using the martini for a while(I use a lot the infantry ver. of most snipers) then I change to the SMLE infantry and I feel like the bolt action is like quick AF and destroy the enemy team as a consequence.

A bayonet charge nerf could be that you have to have no ammo in that gun to bayonet charge
The bayonet charge needs to be fixed asap lol, you start shooting some one then they just spam F and lock onto you, forcing your player to lower his weapon and accept his fate.
There are so many cool guns in this game. I should take some time out of my free time to play bf1 again.
