    It's a small thing, but I appreciate that you actually say the letters of the acronym "D.A.W." instead of just saying "daugh" like most people do. Thanks for not being dumb.

    Wow, excellent! This is it right here. If there's anything anyone starting out ever needed to hear, it would be this. You would need to be confident in building up all these areas to have a real chance at being successful in any way I imagine anyone would be projecting. I'm not betting against anyone's success, but this is so good it's almost a bit intimidating knowing somebody else truly fundamentally understands this - not just unconfidently perhaps theorizes this. Great job with this video!
    I've of course seen other videos of yours as well and really enjoy seeing others who actually fundamentally know what they're talking about and aren't almost accidentally simply just "good at something". Hopefully our paths can cross some day in doing something great.

    Great tips Warren. I would add good old fashioned business cards. They work and their cheap! I always make sure that when I'm at a show and I really like the band I'll make sure to talk to them and let it be known that I'll do a demo or EP for very little money since I have my own studio and can set any rates I wish. My big intentions are to mentor young bands from everything from recording to negotiating payment for concerts and the realistic state of the music biz. I'm trying to help them avoid the mistakes that young bands make cause it's an ocean of sharks out there and they need good sound advice to navigate those treacherous waters, and always get it in writing, always!!!
    One last question Warren, can a Producer/Engineer/Mixer make a living starting out in today's atmosphere in the biz? It seems grim to me seeing that record Companies have a fraction of the power, money, and distribution they used to have can one break in and survive or even flourish?

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  9 років тому

      Hi Paul Schmdit thanks for the great comment! In this day and age I like to share contacts with artists via my smart phone, I do have business cards though and when we are at NAMM or AES it's very useful to have them there. Yes I do believe there is still room for people to make it as a Producer/Engineer/Mixer, but I think you have to be multi killed, be a musician, songwriter as well and you will hugely increase your chances. Have a marvelous time recording! Many thanks Warren

    Whats the best way to promote without posting your songs on forums or doing youtube videos/tutorials?

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  9 років тому

      Hi blood lord thanks for the great question. I find that most of the artists I work with use Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat to get themselves out there! Facebook still is a great way to promote yourself, but yes doing UA-cam videos of yourself doing acoustic versions of your tracks will really help as well. Have a marvelous time recording. Many thanks Warren Huart

      Produce Like A Pro If I may ask another question related to networking sites. How would yourself or others you know (Artists or Producers) use these sites to promote music successfully?

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  9 років тому +1

      Hi blood lord I tend to showcase the artists I work with and they in turn feature my work. Great social media is really important these days for artists and producers to get noticed. Have a marvelous time recording. Many thanks Warren Huart

    I like all the little toys and knick-knacks you have around your studio. Your studio looks like mine. Except yours probably has a lot less gear that came out of trash bins.
