    Hey I'm a boat builder at Robertson and Caine who manufacture these leopards and we're busy building a new line of leopard 50. I must say even thou I'm not a sailor I find these cats beautiful. I totally love what I do and even more love seeing the boat leave the factory. Much love from a fellow captonian ❤️

    Squirrel! We've enjoyed watching your videos for over a year, all the RVs travels, sailing, etc., and couldn't believe it this morning when you yelled "squirrel" for the mola mola! We live on St. Thomas (20 years) in the USVI and have been calling the turtles here squirrels for years, because as soon as someone would yell "turtle!" it would dive back under the water. As a joke we started calling them squirrels so they wouldn't "hear" their name and disappear. Friends and family are initially confused, but enjoy the game once it is explained to them. Cheers, be safe, and thanks for all the great videos!

    And that's exactly what I like most about you two. You stay classy, smiling and true.
    You do this because you believe that we, your audience, deserve only the best - no matter how you are doing in reality. You talk about it, but you stay classy - and that is extremely inspiring, especially for people who are going through a deep emotional process.
    your message: stay true, stay honest and look at the positive. Thanks a lot!

    Hey Leopard... you should exchange their vessel with this one... they will surely be a very good brand ambassador for Leopard... I have never thought of a catamaran before, now I kinda get very interested with one after seeing their videos... Halfway through the video, at 8 minutes, it reminded me of my high school friend in 1953. He would come into home room and tell me about his weekend sailing adventures on Monterey Bay.

    Thanks for all you guys do. I started watching your videos later than most folks and I decided to watch them from beginning to end so I am about a year behind.
    I watched the test sail on the Leopard 45. I agree it is a sweet boat and the "front porch" is wonderful. However, after watching you guys for so long, I kept thinking how nice it is for you that you can protect yourselves from the elements while you steer. The 45 has a raised helm station which I think would be more difficult to close in. It appears that the raised helm station would make it more difficult to have as many solar panels as you do on Curiosity. I didn't like that Jason had to reach so far to bring the main sail in. I'm taller but I am old enough to be Jason's parent so I'm thinking it would be even more difficult for me. Finally, I can't get over the fact that in one of your early videos, while you were still taking sailing lessons, that you were able to get under an ICW bridge (usually 65' clearance). I bet you couldn't do that in the 45.
    If money was no object, I would still choose your boat over the 45. Thanks, again, for all you kids do.

    There will always be a nicer boat... Like many things in life, being content / happy with what you have is important. We own a Leopard 51. 1 year after buying it...there is a Leopard 53! Nicer...and $400k more expensive...and there will always be a nicer boat out there! The opportunity to upgrade is ever-present...but we are content. BTW the forward cockpit to me was a major feature when selecting the boat. It is used about 30% to 40% of the time we are on the boat. It always provides an option to sit outside and enjoy regardless of wind and sun directions. Turning the salon into a breezy wind tunnel when under way is amazing. Listening to Ruby Rose makes me scratch my head and wonder what they are talking about! :)

    • @justincruz8352
      @justincruz8352 4 роки тому

      They think its unsafe. I dont really see it. Even they admit that they are at anchor 90 percent of the time. Why wouldn't you want a nice floating condo when you're parked most of the time. If you cross oceans during the right time of the year it should be safe to do in a lot of boats. 30 foot monos cross all the time. Im still 10 years out from retiring but right now I'm in love with leopards. Ruby rose did end up with a a nice seawind 1370 but I guess Ill have to see it when its out. Fully optioned its a million dollar boat which is pretty steep. Wonder what kind of deal they got through seawind? Theyre all over the seawind website

    We chartered a Moorings Leopard 45 just like this in the BVI’s Mar ‘19 and it was fantastic, but as a mono hull racer / cruiser I was looking for more performance. Having said that, we had a great charter and it was ALL because of the boat. I agree with all the comments that you and Leopard should team up and promote the vessel. We had a great 8 days on our 45 and I personally could easily see taking it around the world. The comfortable choice. Any “fat” cat will out perform the best cruising monohull...just a question of budget. Find quality and move up if you can. Robertson & Caine, builders of the Leopard, know their craft and South Africans are some of the best boat builders in the world. Can’t go wrong.

    Great footage and good editing guys. The world is a small place. I met Valentin in the Seychelles when I was collecting my Leopard there to sail it down to Mozambique in 2015. What a great episode. I feel this was better for me to feel the boat on the water rather than just a walk through. Getting the perspective of someone who has sailed a slightly smaller, older Leopard was more of a realistic comparison. Leopard has been in our top 5 but I think it is moving up the line. Would love to see it in rough seas for a test sail. The old adage of what you must have on land is what you will also want on water really holds true. With a few mods, this could be a sweet blue water boat. Thank you so much

    That was a fun shakedown! A new boat's helm is more responsive because it doesn't have 15 years of leagues behind it wearing down its machinery (yet). Even with the Outremer 45 "La Vagabonde" in Annapolis last October for the same boat show, the Leopards were parked in "Ego Alley". Thanks to you, the Captain and the crew for the closer look! Cozy...
    Jason, if you and Nikki ever make port somewhere you can go sailboat racing...
    Grinding the genoa winches in a one-design race's tackling duel every 2-5 minutes makes those electric (and sometimes, hydraulic) winches on cruising vessels a pampering luxury. Still, the fully manual winch is a simpler machine to service (read: less cost), plus those tacking duels DO build those shoulders, biceps, triceps and stamina. FYI: Things are loosening up again stateside. No plague lasts indefinitely. Stay well!

    I have worked on Robben Island for 27 months. When the sea was extremely rough on a Sunday, only the men had to go back to the island. Women and children had to stay in Cape Town until the weather settled. Only the single haul cargo ship (Blouberg) was used at the time in these conditions and I cannot remember of a single time that I did not get seasick. I can confidently say that my journeys between the island and Cape Town on cats were much more plesant.
    From what I can see in your video, it appears that you had a little bit of South Eastern wind. The real test for a boat would would be in conditions of a strong West to North Western wind in the same area.
    Btw, we love your channel.

    I live a few hundred meters from the V&A Waterfront. Last year with zero experience, I joined a delivery crew of a Leopard 45 to Guadeloupe from Cape Town. 47 days at sea. Was a life changing experience. In the year that has passed, I have bought my own monohull, a Cape Town built Miura 31 that is lying on the hard in Greece. I was doing my skippers ticket when the corona put a halt to everything. I was due in Greece two weeks ago. Who knows when I will get out to her. If you hear of anyone needing crew from Cape Town to the Med. I am looking. thanks for the videos and inspiration.

      I enjoyed their cat walkthroughs, but they clearly tried to judge cats by mono standards and it doesn’t work. I realize they were speaking from their experience and most of the series was great, so please don’t take it as I am trashing on them.

      We love those and appreciate their thoughts on Cat vs Mono and all the reviews they shared. BUT, I gotta say the front door is genius. Sure, it doesn't help the windage when sailing into the wind but sailing downwind and at anchor it's a game changer.

    • @abAMGab
      @abAMGab 4 роки тому

      Those ruby rose reviews were pathetic, their opinions didn’t match up with their reviews. Are they a sailing channel or people who go to boat shows to review stuff they will never purchase.

      @@abAMGab No need for the aggression, just disagree with reasons. I would love it if people would not try to assassinate the character and experience of those they disagree with. On a lighter note, Ruby Roses's next boat will be a Cat apparently :)

      @@gonewiththewynns it was amazing. At the time less than 200 people had ever done it. It was end of August. When the southern right whales come to bred and calf. We saw 7 whales very close. The guide was in shock. He said if you even see one from a distance would be amazing. but he was stunned we saw 7. And one was a mom and her young calf. It was a major paddle with the current and swells and eddies that can take you right to the bottom of the ocean. But I loved it!

    Pretty much the same comparison when looking at a car. Today's stuff is leagues ahead of what they were doing 15-20 years ago. The big question is does the higher price make it worthwhile. Unless your repairs are getting to the point that you're spending more than what the boat is worth and costing you down time, I'd say keep what you have. You probably save a ton on insurance as well.
