Consider an AE construction cap for your Dads truck…tool boxes on the side of cap …some even come with a slide out interior platform…very handy. Then you don’t loose the bed of your truck for future the cap can always be removed.

I have mobility issues and have experienced something similar. Here is what I did to correct. I made sure my wallet was as flat as possible, and moved it to my front pocket. I also wear a belt so I made it as loose as possible, or removed it. Bayer makes a product called Back and Body. I take two (2) of those every seven hours, 3 times a day for no more than seven days. I complete the seven (7) day cycle just to make sure everything is calmed down with the muscles and nerves. Please not the Bayer back and body has caffeine, so watch your caffeine intake as it may cause an unpleasant accident. Best wishes.

Your story about the guy's aircon reminded me of our first trip to Florida from the UK. The rental car was my first experience of a car with A/C. We drove to a restaurant and when we came out I spotted a pool of liquid under the car, there I was on my knees trying to work out what the problem was when a kind passerby stop and explained it to me.

Watching the sun come up after getting up at midnight or very early well in my situation I have to take a little nap. Especially if I'm facing the early sun . I thought everyone knew about the air conditioner dripping moisture when operating. Raising the hood the AC will show where the moisture comes from. Crunching chips don't bother me. The thing I dislike is the blowers in the bathroom s (some public bathrooms) for hand drying. I don't care for the extreme noise.
I've had a degenerating lower back (spinal stenosis) for years with pretty severe back pain and shooting pain down my legs. I've done the pain pills and the muscle relaxants and they have not worked. The only thing that has really worked well is walking at least one or two miles a day, pelvic curls (lay flat on the floor on your back, push your lower back to the floor, and curl your pelvis upward into your abdomen), and stretching (bend forward and touch your toes). After just a couple of weeks of this the pain has gone away for the most part. Walking strengthens the muscles on either side of the lower back and helps stabilize the spine. I still have a degenerating back but I am able to get around pretty well. I continue to walk every day. BTW, Whatever you do, do not hyperextend your back (bend backwards).
Our empty nesting was going on nearly 40 years ago. Funny thing: After a while that didn't hurt at all. Life didn't become less expensive though, you know, collage and such. Short videos are not bad, maybe for some folks normal. Anyway, me best wishes for you and the family.

When people chew with their mouth open. That drives me insane. My husband chews with his mouth open. He gets it from his family. I swear they were all raised without proper table etiquette. Like a bunch of wild animals. Drives me nuts when we get together with his family for a meal. I love them all dearly. But my Lord, no one wants to hear yall chewing and smacking your lips! Take care of your back! Sometimes, all you need is time. Try icing your back. Helps shrink what's swollen so it's not so painful.
