  • In this video I'm going to show you how to make an 808 bass from scratch using all stock FL Studio plugins. We're going to be using Sytrus, Distructor, and Parametric EQ 2. After following all the steps in this tutorial be sure to bounce the 808 down to audio and save it into a folder where you can use your 808 in future projects.

    Hope everyone is having a great weekend! This is another requested sound design tutorial, and this is generally how I go about making 808s from scratch. Don't forget to bounce the 808 you make down to a .wav file so you can use it in your future projects.

    Thank you very much for this video David. Just one question, wouldn't it be easier to you use Sytrus' built-in filter or its built-in EQ to cutoff the high end instead of using Distructor?

  • @hoppyroo110
    @hoppyroo110 2 роки тому +1

    Just have to say props again on this one... I watched it a while ago and made some of my own Sytrus 808 bass sounds ( and added them as my own presets... )... I just recently watched Navie Ds version on how to make 808 sounds using Toxic Biohazard. Both work well, but I think yours is much more straightforward, and honestly sounds better. I suspect it uses less CPU power too ( although that's not really a problem with my rig... ).
    Either way! Keep up the good work! ( Navie D has some really good stuff too, but I think you won the custom 808 round easy... :) )

      Squadron BE it’s probably not ideal. You can see on SPAN what’s going on. Its a little on the low side, but It’s not unheard of for 808s to be that low

      in your case an audio interface would be useful for connecting studio monitors/headphones, for example. even then, it wouldn't really be necessary because they can be connected through regular mini jacks.

  • @iknowalex4501
    @iknowalex4501 3 роки тому

    I don’t mean to sound rude, but WTF are you doing with the EQ? first you use a lowpass filter to get rid of the highs... AND THEN YOU BOOST THE NON EXISTENT HIGHS? also why should you remove lower frequencies in an 808? The rest of the video was quit okay though.

    • @AnotherMonster
      @AnotherMonster  3 роки тому +1

      the filter cut out SOME of the high end. There's still frequency content in the areas I'm boosting with the EQ. Parametric EQ 2 has some great visual feedback so you can actually see the frequencies that are still present in the 808 by using your eyes. Also, if you use your ears you can hear the EQ has a pretty massive effect on the way the 808 sounds. You can cut out the low end (below 30 hz) to free up some headroom so your 808 doesn't take up extra space in the mix. In this case the amount of cut I did probably didn't actually do anything since it's just a low shelf and I barely cut it. If you do want to free up some head room a high pass filter will usually do the trick. Basically, I'm using the filter and the EQ to re-shape the sound to make it hit the way I want it to. Just adding distortion on a sine wave is fine, but I'm showing you how you can then completely change the tone of the 808
