    For anyone interested: I‘ve been in contact with the Rode Support over this. (I‘m using the First Gen though)
    Here‘s what the Support said:
    - Update Firmware through App (not an option on first Gen)
    - Check if internal recording also has interference noise (seems to be a well working solution for 2nd Gen users)
    - enable Airplane Mode on Camera (did not do anything for me)
    - Use long cable to get receiver away from camera (also did nothing for me)
    - Set the input Db on the receiver to the max.
    This actually worked really well for me. I get a lot of noise on the 2 lower input settings and as soon as I go to max levels the noise almost entirely goes away.
    I combined this solution with 2 clip on filters on my receiver to camera cable and it seems like this killed 99,9% of the noise.
    Hope this might help someone!

      For me with my A7S3 what’s fixed the issue for me is setting the receiver to 0db and then my camera audio setting to as low as it goes (level 1 or whatever gives you the best audio without peaking)

    We have this same issue for our FX3’s. It’s only squealing when we listen to the internal camera audio, whereas once we use the rode wireless go ii’s 32 bit float imported via rode central the squeal completely goes away. I believe the issue is a frequency broadcasted by the camera being intercepted by the 3.5mm wire to the rode. It’s an unbalanced wire which can be interfered with by electrical current. XLR is balanced and is the reason why people sometimes go that direction. Our fix at six and twenty films has been to either unplug the wireless go from the camera completely, and multicam in post and line up the 32 bit float to the scratch audio from the camera using waveforms, or to keep the rode plugged in to the camera and just use the squealing version and waveform it to the internal 32 bit float the same way we would with the scratch audio.
    We came across this video looking for exactly what you just talked about and with your fixes + what we’ve worked on i’d say the best way to alleviate the problem is to just multicam using waveform to the 32 bit internal audio. No squealing and you get a lot more editing options in post. Thanks for sharing this and I want to see more of what you have to post!

    Well-done video! Thank you for your work on this. I have both the Rode Wireless Go and Comica wireless mics, and both have been buzzing on the A7sIII. It seems to me the real issue is a weakness in the actual Sony mic jack. I've used the microphones on other Sony cameras with no issues. So I'll go for the noise filters.

    Thanks for this video! For others out there I've had the same problem with my Panasonic cameras as well - GH4 and FZ2500. Also does the same thing on an older DJI Osmo Pocket (using the DJI mic adapter) and an Sony handycam. Rode told me to use a 6 ft cable that they sell (and are quite proud of as the price reflects) but that did nothing. They never mentioned using the clip-on noise filters. I now have a couple of those and the coiled cables coming from Amazon. Hoping that will solve the problem. I've changed cords to just about anything I could find but that alone did nothing. Also FYI - on my set of wireless Go 2 mics only the left channel picks up the buzzing. Tried switching the Tx units but always in the left channel. Like you the internal recording were always clean. I think Rode has a product defect they're not willing to address. They have stated that their Rx unit has a very hot preamp and super sensitive antenna system so that it can reach out to ranges over 100 yrds. I don't know very many people shooting an interview who need to be a football field away from the talent....LOL! Thanks again for your video!

      @victor.melchorfilm  2 роки тому +1

      Hey of course I’m glad to help! Yeah I’ve seen a few videos on using a 6 ft cable and man it makes the setup so odd and is very awkward as a solution haha! Yes thankfully noise filters have worked for me over the past few months so I’m happy to say after putting it through a lot more testing it’s been a great solution! That makes sense about the hot preamp cause I have seen people do comparisons to other wireless lav systems and rode’s has an insane range but it seems to be at the cost of getting that buzzing noise unfortunately. But yes happy to help!!

    I had buzzing within the wireless go II system while using a lavalier mic. My solution was to turn off dB padding within the receiver and that eliminated the buzzing

    This has been driving me absolutely nuts. I've been using the Go II on my a7siii for over two years with no issues, and after swapping to the rhino cage from smallrig, the closer position of the go II (in the angled shoe) is making the interference unbearable. I went through old footage and the noise was definitely not there. I just rebuilt my rig and now have to deal with this... so lame lol

    • @victor.melchorfilm
      @victor.melchorfilm  8 місяців тому

      Dang I actually haven’t heard of the cage making a difference but that makes sense because some comments mention when the receiver is a certain distance away the buzzing goes away. I agree super frustrating on our end :/ I recently upgraded to the rode wireless pros and those seem to have completely eliminated the buzzing noise. Not the best solution to buy a more expensive version, but may be worth emailing rode and seeing if they can provide you some type of discount if you were to purchase the pros! Hope this helps

I agree with some of the other comments I can use the mics and same cable on the Sony A7iii and the sony A6500 and no buzzing . So it seems to prove the issue is with the donyaudio socket. Hi, thanks for the video, none of your solution works with my fx3 :( Even with attached xlr handel there is still noise. Xlr is a “solution” because you moving receiver away from camera, if you move it back to camera body you will hear the buzz. One of the simple solution is to buy long cable and separate camera body and RWG :)

    • @victor.melchorfilm
      @victor.melchorfilm  2 роки тому

      Aw man I’m sorry none of the solutions worked for you, I’m not quite sure why though :/ Be sure to switch the audio levels to manual hopefully that will fix it! Only issue with moving the receiver away is that I’d prefer to leave the RWG attached to the camera

    • @DSLRMAN01
      @DSLRMAN01 2 роки тому +1

      Although that is one the solutions ( I've actually used it that way) I prefer to keep mine attached to the top of my camera. That is the reason I bought it. I mainly film on gimbal and handheld. It is not practical to keep the receiver away from the camera plus it looks unprofessional. RODE has done a very poor job this time and their tech support is not very helpful either.
      I used to have Sennheiser LAV and they worked flawlessly but they were bulky.
      I wish Sennheiser would create something similar, I would be one of the first ones to get it...

    Thanks for explaining so well, helped a lot. I just got Deity S-mic2s for Sony-Fx3 for run and gun shoot. I am getting lots of handling noise through mic, is there a way to get around this? Thanks

      @victor.melchorfilm  Рік тому

      Hey of course! Honestly I haven’t really used the included top handle because of the handling noise but the only think I know of is just holding it by the camera grip and avoiding holding the top handle. Sony definitely needs to fix some of the kinks for the top handle in my opinion!

      I got the smallrig handle extension, havent used it much but heard its supposed to get rid of some of the creaking as well

    Question… is your oudio/mic input in your body camera is loose/play movement?

      Hey Joel! The input does have a little bit of play, but I believe that is normal

      That’s interesting! Makes me think it’s specifically an issue with Sony’s quality control :/

      @@victor.melchorfilm too add tot that, I have this same issue with only the rode wireless go II and not the first version. I also have this problem with the dji dual mic system. Weird. I found that using a long 3.5mm connected cable away from the camera usually works. However, it’s super annoying

      @@marshallhajek That's so weird, now I don't know if it's a specific Sony issue, Rode issue or both? Aw man that's a bummer, is it the new DJI Wireless mics? I was planning on purchasing those in hopes it wouldn't have the same issue haha. Yeah I have heard that the extended cable works but it definitely does seem cumbersome especially if you're doing run and gun work

      @@victor.melchorfilm Ya It is the new wireless dji mics. I bought them mainly because it had a charging case, was magnetic, hoped to stop the buzzing/rode clicking noise, and had slightly better audio quality. Used them on an interview yesterday and the audio was buzzing. Oddly if I held the receiver it stopped. I still recommend the mics but the problem still exists just like the rode mics

      I recently upgraded to the wireless pro as well, I’ve found a sweet spot for avoiding that noise with the internal sony volume set to 2-3 db and the wireless pro set to 0db. Hope this helps!
