This version sounds way cleaner played and improvised than the Seattle version in my opinion. This one actually makes him sound good. Even if it’s simple stuff it still sounded genuine, not sure what was up with seattle’s messy ass tone. Maybe it was all the editing
Dude's been playing pentatonic since he started in the band. Not sure which Kirk you've been listening to. Lighting and Justice is the only time he really tried appregio style patterns in his solos.
@@kylebatteson9572he’d been incorporating arpeggio stuff in his playing on shit other than lightning and justice. The leper messiah solo has a arpeggio bit, disposable heroes has some arpeggio stuff, the first orion solo has that b minor triad part. There’s the arpeggiated a minor triad motif in the unforgiven solo, there’s little dmaj, e min, and f# triads in the sandman solo. He even does this little gary moore like maj7 thing in dont tread on me I know with the “newer” shit the day that never comes has a part in it somewhat reminiscent of the lightning solo outro, and spit out the bone has a sweep part
2:48 That was the lick that he used in the Solo of Dont Tread on Me 1991
