i totally agree with you about the majority of people wanting to be creators and shop owners. It gets exhausting.
It's tough because I get it. That's part of what I want to do too. I just wish there was some way to make it similar to how it used to be. Maybe more new people joining? I don't know.
Id totally buy your dream planner. Im all for colorful seasonal! And I love the idea of a dashboard add-on section. But.....the dividers need to be reusuable. STOP IT with the monthly on the back of the divider, Happy Planner!!

I completely agree and I’ve seen this comment a lot. I’m surprised HP hasn’t yet made the change. Still hoping they will.

I agree with you about the way things have changed in planner community. I don’t watch nearly as many UA-cam planner videos as I used to. Most of the videos are about new releases and sticker books. Makes me want to stop buying sticker books and stop watching videos. I don’t buy or watch near as much as I used to. Most of the fun is gone now. SAD!
This is actually really good feedback. What would you say are the fun parts to watch? I want to keep this space fun!
Completely agree! Fewer creators are doing chatty plan with mes, which is one of the things that keeps me watching Caitlyn!

100% WITH YOU about teaching… there are things that I DO miss… but the things that made me leave have not changed and I won’t be back…. My daughter teachers now, but in private school and my other daughter works/instructs on the college level.
Yeah until those things change, I won’t be back.
I try to follow the jab, jab, jab hook-share more than sell. By sell, I mean UA-cam links or affiliate links. I'm not always perfect with three non-sales to every sale post, but I try to find a balance.

Thank you for answering all the questions! I hadn't thought about the planner space as having mostly creators, but I had noticed that the majority of the channels I watch became less about planning and more about selling their own sticker books. It seems like every creator these days is selling stickers and I miss the creativity of making spreads with any stickers you can find, not just the ones you make.
I think your feelings about leaving teaching are very common. I have a friend who left to go into Ed Tech and she seems to be enjoying it. I'm happy with my current position because I'm not micromanaged like I was before. It's not perfect, but I have a much healthier work/life balance! Unfortunately I don't think k-12 has gotten any better since you left. At least in higher ed people are starting to push back against administration.

I’m not seeing you tube planners schlepping their own stickers often. I see them encouraging use of an affiliate link though.
I think I mostly see it in on instagram. But it’s tough. I do too it too. I wish there was a better way.
I have stepped back on posting my planner pages. It has gotten so over run with creators lately.
I mean there is a place for everyone if they want you to monetize. But, I think that it’s important to find something that sets your content apart from others.

About clickbait. LOL that was laughable! Who doesn't do it that enjoy any measure of success on the internet?! I agree with and applaud you for taking the time to thoughtfully tie your content to the thumbnail label. 100% Somebody is just another messy person on the internet.
I honestly laughed at that question. I think though it just is a lack of understanding about what it means to be a content creator.

Unfortunately I just don’t think it is possible. I’m guilty of this too. It’s hard to avoid but when I am just consuming content, I wish I could see more of the planners I love and less ads.

I was laid off from teaching about two years ago. But now I’m working in social media marketing full time.

Clickbait? Maybe they confused you with another content creator? I’ve never seen your titles to be like “celebrity secrets revealed!” Or anything silly like that. Just planner related titles.
I get tired of content creators in which every video is about how to revamp one’s productivity and become this super productive machine that never wastes a minute. I find those are often sponsored, and the creator stops in the middle to do a mini ad for something largely unrelated to planning. Not only do I find all that toxic productivity exhausting, I feel like the very topic is clickbait itself. If they had found such an amazing productivity method, how come there’s a completely different one every week, each always being declared as the One Method to Rule Them All?
Maybe it says more about me that I harbor resentment towards people who seem to have it all figured out, down to their pristine planners with rows of perfect habit trackers, with every box neatly checked off because they are always getting it all done. They must be so much fun at parties! 😂
Your videos are so real and honest and happy and full of energy, even when you’ve been sick or had something distressing happen, you still bring this wonderful energy and chatty presence, like I’m listening to a friend talking.
