- It's finally time to set up my Erin Condren and Happy Planner for July 2024. I can't believe we are starting these new gorgeous planners. I am excited for a fresh start in each of my planners and a chance to dig into new stickers.

I went from Happy Planner to Erin Condren and now I want to use both 😂 So I feels ya.
I need more things to plan so I can use both. Although, part of me currently feels like I'm just holding onto HP because it's so familiar and I've used it for so long.
@@CreatinginChaos Ask me about my filler sheet collection... 🙂I'm not getting rid of any of my HP stuff yet, because I go back and forth, and while the newer planners themselves no longer interest me, I still use the half sheets for shopping lists and writing stuff down. And, I know me - the minute I get rid of it, I'll wish I hadn't.
@@MsCarolM I definitely need to get rid of some paper. I’m not offloading my collection, but I have too much paper lol
I understand. I went from using happy planner to using erin condren a5 and I love it and it is like you said it helps me be more porductive. Also use Planner Kate stickers which helps me get organized while having fun.

I love seeing all the different planners and sticker companies you use. It gives me ideas for my own planner setup. I need to get back into my planners. I think I am in a planner crisis as well.

I can totally relate, and it's perfectly OKAY to switch planners as your planning needs and life change. Since January 2023, I've gone from an 18 month HP colorblock as my main planner with a side order of EC Daily Duos in both sizes, to the 18 month Etta Vee Inspire 2023-2024 (which I used pretty consistently until a few months ago), to my latest "experiments" of a Hobonichi 2024 A5 Cousin and a Jibun Techo A5 Slim kit, which I purchased last month. Fortunately, with the exception of the 18 month EC, everything else was purchased months into the season at deep discounts.
I never thought I'd like a Hobonichi, but I love it. The Jibun Techo has some additional features that I like really, and I'm going to use the rest of 2024 to decide how to best use both - one for journaling/memory keeping and the other for planning/tracking. As of right now, I have no regrets because life and planner needs change all the time. 😎
You are totally right! Sometimes we just need to change it up. Things do change SO much. Thank you for sharing your story as well.
You can get little stick on coil holders to attach to a card and put your color code on that and clip it into the calendar section. You can also write on the page. I have done both.
I have some of those coil holders bc they were on sale but I have never used them. 🤔 I have A LOT of accessories from EC that I bought on sale but never used. I forgot about them until now. Thanks for the reminder. 😉 ❤
Oh that's a really good idea! I think I'm going to get that added into my system.
I have the same issue with Happy Planner things. So much that I just forgot about. Especially the fill paper.
@@CreatinginChaos also, look at the snap in dashboards. There maybe one that meets or needs or can be modified. I have also used extra covers to write on and for post it notes. Remember you can use dry erase markers on all snap in dashboards and covers.

I loved the decorational aspect of happy planner stickers, but I am a functional girly before I am a decorational girly. Planner Kate has always been great for the functional and helped me transition from happy planner to EC and then once I did that, I felt more on top of the things that were GOING to happen instead of just documenting what already happened, which is what I felt like happy planner was for me, a memory keeper. I now use a few different planners but my main planner is a Stalogy and while it’s tedious sometimes having to create it every week, every week it is exactly what I want and need it to be so the pay off for me is huge 😊.
Also, I don’t care what you use to plan in, if you keep making content, I’m going to keep watching. 🎉
Aw thank you so much. I am so glad that you will be here :) I feel like you told my story. Planner Kate has truly helped me transition to being a very functional planner. I think part of it is that I know where everything is. I'm not flipping through tons of sticker books to get what I need.
I’ve been pretty solid with my passion planner weekly till this point this year. The last few weeks I’ve wanted something different. Something new. So I kinda feel ya! I’m waiting for my HP Skinny Classic to arrive. 🙃 I’m here for the ride! I just love all the planners and supplies!
Just got my first passion planner and I love love love it but I’m an ec girl all the way. I wouldn’t use a hp again if they sent one to me thier quality is so bad compared to passion planner and ec.
@@Thesweetlifeofaplannergirl For me, with HP, it's mostly because the insides of every planner for the most part look the same within each layout. Before the company was sold, each planner had a very different look and personality. That's what drew me to them. They no longer have that spark.

I can't unsee it now that I see it. And when I bought an EC a few years ago, I really wasn't into the paper. But now, I just can't go back. I'm even thinking about putting Cloth and Paper or Plum paper inserts with my HP dividers because I need better paper.
That's why I always stayed too because of the cute dividers and the whole vibe of each planner. A lot of that magic is missing these days. It's a bummer.
The whole purpose of planning is to make you more productive. That’s what we come here to see. I want to know how you use it what you came up with to adapt it to your needs or scrapped it. EC worked for me at first then I tried EC petites and they worked. Then none of it worked and I found the HP dashboard. That’s been working for me for a while. Planning needs to change with our life otherwise it’s just another notebook. ❤

I also don’t have AC. Im in Southern California but our weather hasn’t been above 83.
It can be rough without AC. I'm thankful for good fans and good windows to hold in the cool air.
I like that you’re trying different things! I’ve traditionally been a coil EC Planner, but I’m also playing around with some disc options!

Welcome to the dark side lol. Using kits in an ec is so great and makes me happy. You should def get a daily duo. I use mine everyday I use my hourly as a catch all. I use the family organizer as a family hub. I use the monthly as a social media planner I use the a5 compact vertical as a mental health journal and the new vertical teacher as a wellness. I also tried the planner envy vertical planner and I love it. Just got my passion planner and I love that. And got another one on the way will be here next week that I haven’t revealed yet. I started watching your channel in 2018 when I was big into happy planner but last July I just decided that happy planner just isn’t the company for me because the price is up there but the quality sucks. Can’t wait to see what you do with the daily duo
Right the quality does suck. But I feel they have the best stickers for the money. Of course I always buy everything on sale. But you are right. Since the Stephanie sold the company I have lost interest and went to EC A5. Love it.
The daily duo is on the way haha. But now you have me thinking about the compact vertical as a journal. Oh man...I may have just gone down a rabbit hole HAHAHA! And the kits are the BEST! What are some of your favorite shops?
I really have lost some of the fun from HP. I wish it was more exciting again like when Stephanie was here. But I am glad she is enjoying her retirement.
@@CreatinginChaos I have about 65 simply guilded kits I use in my ec hourly and I get thier sub box every month. I also like planner Kate and plan with pizzaz I have about 30 of thier kits to use this year. I also just bought a passion planner real cheap I really like it too. But I’m a huge ec fan. And yea I use the compact vertical for a mental health journal every day I journal about how my mental health was that day. It really helps
@@CreatinginChaos yea ever since 2020 they do the same old thing. And yes they do have the best stickers for the value but you can also find shops that have huge sales and get a bunch. I just got 140 planner Kate add on sheets for 30 bucks

I’ve used HP for years and have followed you for quiet sometime. I moved to EC back at the end of Jan and love it (I did try EC back in 2015 but it wasn’t what I needed at the time). I love EC’s paper quality, the a5 size, and that it’s not easily available bc otherwise I just buy planners bc they’re on sale or clearance with HP.
EC A5 compact vertical has been a game changer for me. I also did buy a DD for work (I’m a teacher and I’m hoping it will be just what I need for to dos etc). I also found Hemlock and Oak daily is perfect for me for journaling. I will go with the undated next year bc it’s gotten really chunky and I love the monthly overview/review and goals pages. Plus they also have free downloads for all of all their layouts. Makselife has free downloads and I’ve started using their goal system.
BTW regardless of what brand you use I’m sure people will still follow.

Definitely do what is best for you! I’m here for the ride :) I’ve thought about trying out other products but love the discbound system so much. Daily planners is where I’m not finding any planner company with what I really need so I might have to create something that works or change up the pages I already own.
You might want to check out the EC daily duo. I've looked at a few other daily planners and the EC one really stood out to me. That's why it's on the way to my house LOL

Girl, I feel you on this video. I’m not sure if HP will still be around for me next yr. I think so but idk for sure at this point in time still. I’m loving my EC as well. I tried EC on and off but I’m in it now. I have a classic size EC and my big HP. Idk why I’m feeling the coil at this time. HP has been with me since 2017. Discs are awesome and that’s why I love HP but I’m loving the plaid cover on my EC so I go in it lol. I will play around for a bit and see what happens after a couple of months. I’m not going anywhere so whatever planner you use is what’s best for you at this time.

You absolutely must plan in a way that brings you peace. I’ve realized that I love a Discbound system so I am in the slow process (due to cost) creating my own big disc bound system that I can update as needed.
I always thought I loved discbound too, but truly it's the only thing I've really tried and got kind of stuck. It's blowing my mind how much I am actually using this new planner system.
I don’t use EC because of their price point. Also ease of use. I have several reading journals in my line up and they are all different. Don’t think I could handle my planner being different too. I am staying with you though!!
So the way that I think about the price point is that I only need one planner for $70 in areas where I would have needed to put together several planners and extension kits and fill paper and metal discs for probably more than the same price point. Maybe I will make a video about this :)

@@CreatinginChaos I don’t use a stickers often, and when I am in my season of life when I just need to make lists it works so good!! Even in the A5 size I was surprised how much room there really was

I have been all aboard the Happy Planner train since 2016. I have had other generic planners in the mix as well, ones that I keep open on my work desk, but my main planner (Franken-planner) usually never leaves the house. I have been intrigued in the last few months about the Erin Condren planners, specifically the vertical and the daily duo. I agree that sticker kits make it so much easier to plan and be productive. There are pros and cons to them though: they save time when it comes to getting your planner set up for week/month, you can batch plan for the whole month if you have the kits you will be using in advance which can save you time on busier weeks; however the flip side to that is it leaves very little room for design creativity in your planner so even though the sticker books all have the same stickers, each person using them has a different looking spread. As soon as you turned the page I could tell that you were using your planner more than you previously had been in your Happy Planners. When you do the math between what you spend on HP planners, sticker books and accessories throughout the year, and what you could spend on an EC planner and sticker kits for the year, I am sure it evens out in the long run. I am going to suggest that you watch @plansarahplan here on UA-cam, she has a great set up video for her EC planner. I am here for the ride - carry on!
I would have to disagree about the creativity aspect. In the same way that we all use HP or any other sticker book and put our own spin on it, the same can be said for kits. I don't think I use the kit in the exact same way as someone else. And I'm totally here for cutting stickers and being creative with a kit rather than "using as intended." I will definitely check out plansarahplan. I'm excited to watch her stuff. :)
You really shouldn’t feel bad.😊 Although you show your planner and planning activities with the world, planning is very personal and it should work for you. I think we all watch for inspiration and ideas. You can still do that with EC. Sometimes you have to change things up a bit to remind you why you liked doing something in the first place. I also agree with you that the sticker kits are a game changer but for me I can’t afford to buy small shop sticker books and sticker kits so I stick with the small boutique shops (LLP, KOAP, etc…). Happy planner stickers are hard for me to design cute spreads in my planner so I no longer buy those.So…in other words change up and do what works best for you.😊

I love the kits and the whole idea of using kits but man they’re pricey, especially if you want to use a different kit each week, which obviously you do lol I just know I can’t afford by any means to spend $10-20 a week on a sticker kit for my weekly spread. Not when I can get a whole sticker book for a few bucks on the HP site idk 🤷🏼♀️ I’m not ragging. Not at all. Anyone who can buy the kits I love to watch them being used. Just stinks bc they are pricey.
There are ways to do it on a budget that is similar to what we spend on sticker books. I have found some BST groups on facebook and people are selling full kits. There are also lots of sales that go on for shops. You could also shop lesser known shops that might be looking for exposure or have things priced a little lower. I don't intend to spend $15 per week either. But I will also not be spending my happy planner budget on kits right now and with the amount of sticker books and planners I was buying, it really works out to be a similar cost.
