Already booked the tickets for the exact same flights in this video in early summer. Looking forward to it as ive travelled on the a346 before and i really like their unique toliet.
Thanks for sharing, least you got to fly an A340 whilst they're still here. I flew LH twice long-haul in May 2018 in economy, its definitely a huge step down compare to their premium cabins (First/Business). Loved the arrival views as you came into Hong Kong!
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I'm just really glad to have ticked off the A346, shame it wasn't the best flight ever but it was worth it for the aircraft. And yes, I got really lucky to have been able to get such an amazing view of the city.
Swiss has tons of A340ies and A330. Iberia as well. They are pretty common as european airlines don't want to replace their old airplanes with new ones.
@@petermuller5800 the 600 variant is indeed quite rare. Swiss has a metric f*ton of A340-300, which is their bread and butter long haul plane (together with the A330). They charge often twice or tripple the price than their competitors with newer aircraft (e.g. Cathay with A350-1000) while offering only a mediocre service (not bad, but not worth the price). For Iberia, I'm not sure anymore. Flown them in the 2000s often, but not that much lately.
Flying Lufthansa (I've flown around 20 times) is like taking a coach, never memorable for good reasons but no major complaints either. It's ok . I have flown quite a few times from Hong Kong and Lufthansa is often the cheapest one.
Breakfast is a joke - it’s a proper long haul flight and they don’t even bother serving a warm second meal/breakfast. On a Cathay flight you will get two hot meals + mid flight snacks.
@@ExploreWithLia That's exactly my thought. Thought I had missed my chance when Corona grounded them all so I'm happy some have returned and I'm not letting this opportunity pass
Very good and comprehensive review! As a German I used to be proud of LH because of their incredibly diverse fleet and constant good product but nowadays I almost feel ashamed because they keep disappointing everyone, not only their passengers but also their employees. Their pricing is one of the highest in the airline industry and on several occasions they sell Basic Economy Tarifs with no checked luggage while other full-service carriers may offer similar or cheaper prices with luggage included. And you get nothing extra for that amount of money. In contrast, you get a cold and unpleasant breakfast for such a long flight. Disastrous! Even Air China serves two hot meals on their FRA-PEK 9h flight.
I've had such small "snack" breakfast on a 6 hour flight from Berlin to Doha (Qatar). But on a 12 hour flight? Come on, Lufthansa! Does the airline care for service, or do they wanna squeeze out the last cent, so they can pay record-high dividends to their shareholders? Hmmm, at the moment, the latter.
Could not find a Cathay pacific flight in Premium economy who is cheaper than Lufthansa. They are double the price than Lufthansa! Sometimes they have good business class offers.
A340-600 Is One My Favorite Air Plans.Great Trip Report

That's awesome! Enjoy your flight! ;)
Nice trip report! It’s also cool to see a woman doing them. Female aviation enthusiasts are rare!
😢 Harri GaeL ❤️😭❤
Every flight in an A346 was so comfortable and pleasent. Toilets are under Deck, Not to hear flush, Layout 2-4-2 and quite cabine

@@svr5423 Swiss and Iberia don't operate any A340-600 (anymore), as of 2024. It's this particular version of the A340 that people are fascinated with.

I flew on a Lufthansa A340-600 from MUC to LAX, but in Premium Economy. I found it very enjoyable. WiFi sucked on that flight as well.

Is that not flying economy in a nutshell?

Yeah definitely. It's a huge shame how far Lufthansa's fallen.
I booked a one night stay return trip from BRU to JFK via MUC just to get the chance to fly the 346 😅
That's awesome! The A346's so rare these days and it's only a matter of time before they're all gone.

I was never disappointed, maybe my standards are lower idk. Will be on lh796 soon and im excited 😊

Harri 😢❤❤ GaeL ❤️
towards Hong Kong I'd prefer Cathay pacific anytime. It's their hub, their cheaper than Star Alliance, have newer planes and offer superior service.
Oh absolutely. I did this flight purely for the A340 haha.
CX is certainly much better however they are double the price as LH😢

well 2:55.
