This video doesn't include the basic attacks clip from the Stellar Blade PlayStation website, where it's more clear that enemies have shields that need to be whittled down first before you do any significant damage. Also, if you check out the combat demo from around 4 years ago (from a very early build), you can see that the game plays similar to Sekiro (parrying/dodging) but with flashier movement, combos, and finishers.
Jaw agape, the fucking sound design is so crunchy. It's not Doom level of overtly "in your face", but it's nice and chonky, like satisfyingly so, without being ultra distorted. BRUH though.
tbh one of the most important aspects for swordplay to feel satisfying imo is the sounds. like a solid blade slash or deflect sound can really make the difference in hits feeling good and just feeling like whiffing air. sound here was great along with those sweet animations.
I'm not even gonna cap, kinda expected more with all the hype surrounding the game. It's definitely gonna be a game to get just to support ShiftUP, but not pre ordering or day 1, thanks for the video!!!!

I play all and it just looks like Nier Automata evolved. DMC 1/2/3/4/5 and Bayonetta 1&2 are way faster with way more combos and abilities, Stellar Blade could have more, but so far they had show the guns that look similar to the droids and the sword with 5 combos and some viscerals, which is the regular light moveset on Nier. Final Fantasy 16 could be the only FF game that resembles just the combat system for the amount of combos you can do, which are limited.
Nier Automata if they focused on the generic flashy combat which is the least interesting part about the game, these clones always fail to nail what makes Nier great. The mysterious characters, the philosophical story, the thought provoking narratives.
The combat looks very mid, very super move finisher with a gun! Neir combat was like 7.5/10 good and that’s not what I want in an action RPG ANYWAY! We want to use melee weapons, with a parry mechanic, and acrobatic movement to dodge with I frames! Make it beautiful, make it fun, gameplay is always king
