Sorin is the only guy on yt! Bringing this live as it is! No one, does it best like he does. Master!
Ain't that the truth brother!
The backlight will probably no longer turn off when the lid is closed, because the ON/Enable pin is forced on all the time.....UNLESS that 3.3v rail also goes off when the lid is closed. Still better than having no backlight at all...
ah I was wondering the consequence of bringing current from another rail. And could it damage the rail as it will draw much more current that was intented?
@@ytrew9717 It could damage a good rail. Depends on the power draw of what you are connecting to it. You can't power the CPU or GPU from a teeny tiny little power rail. But I remember Sorin explaining that often times power rails are rated for 3x the current draw than what would actually be needed. The parts cost the same and engineers like to be safe so they use higher rated parts which is fortunate for such "dodgy" repairs.
In this case though there is virtually no chance that that additional load would damage anything as it seems to be an enable signal. I don't know exact numbers but I'd estimate an enable signal drawing just a couple of mA max.
@@fabian11235 thanks a lot for taking the time to explain!
That as always is a class act and yes you are the Maestro of all electronics repairs. Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful example of how to apply your knowledge of electronics together with the inner workings of the laptop screen....truly a genius at work here. Can't wait to see more upcoming videos.
what some call a dodgy repair we look and see its a genius repair and better most times than the manufacture :)
Operating while the patient is awake 🤣👍😂
Doctors they are doing it, why we not? :D
Kao i uvek sjajno💪💪💪👏👏👏🇷🇸♥️♥️♥️
Komša razbija :)
He's shown that tric here before!
Absolutely briljant!
Sorin did it again. Nice find and you can adjust it. Thank you for the update
Brilliant lesson, how to fix but not how to fix. 🙃 Love it - thank you for showing how this works.
Pretty sure to solve this on some lenovos could install an older video driver, or go into bios and turn the brightness up to full while in there and unplugged so windows remembers it at full brightness wjen unplug the charger
excellent work yet again . brilliant work keep it up.... i've learnt absolutely loads on this channel ....
Awesome video, very helpfull. I have exactly the same laptop with exactly the same problem!
A few years back I couldnt even find anyone with the same problem, now there is a video with detailed instructions on troubleshooting and fixing this! Thank you!
Thanks my friend.. always teaching.. and Still at 70 always trying to learn.. Carry on..
I've seen that before in computers "updated" from Windows 7 to 10.
Wauw, a perfect repairing job. I love you man.
Very very very best teacher .... Tanks
Somebody else would change display right? Just because they don´t know how to solve this issue. Really well done job as should be.
If this problem really due to super io signal changing the display is not going to work
@@kumarshubham3230 this is not really the point of the comment. But i think some of shops would just say mlb issue unrepairable.
May be
not only somebody else would try changing the display, they would do it with the battery connected and bye-bye backlight circuit!

Love those bespoke calibrated wires.
Amazing Sorin.
Nice job
The master ! 👨🔧
best of the best
Another great video, thanks
good work king, love you
also local to Sorin workplace. which is east greater london. which we all know anywway. i actually scare myself with how much info can be garnered and deduced from practically any photograph. lighting, photography equipment , style era, time of day .. it's all amazing really. and Artificial Intelligence is doing it automatically. I just typed it out.
Thank you.
Big like Sorin ! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'm glad to see you again and I'm glad the constancy of posting videos! A greeting and only the good!
To keep lid close no backlight function and display off screen saver functionaility, could you use the 2 volt from sio to switch a 3.3v supply via a transistor.
Thank you
Thanks
Good job mate 👍
But that seems that maybe you will receive that same laptop to fix a faulty EC in the future, no?
It shows that you don't have to work like a robot
Need a very nice head Surin
Nice job.. We will call it "o romaneasca" :D
Good job
What happened to the sound, I had to use subtitles. Maybe his home audio is so good that the shop audio now sounds bad - lol -.
Wouldn’t disabling the power save features solve this ? Sorry if it’s a stupid question
no
@@Customer22374 fair enough, stupid question it was then 👍
I would say that was my first thought, change power profile to High Performance.
It wouldn’t alter the screen’s brightness when charger removed.
Just depends on if the charger is required for highest brightness if it’s one of those eco laptops that use battery and charger to achieve that brightness.
@@Customer22374 care to explain why?
When you close the laptop lid, will the screen still go dark with this fix?
Point to check but dim is working so most probably it is also going to work
when the lid is close will the backlight still stay on?
Genius
Video short and nice 💪
Interesting
Masterpiece 👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👋👋👋🤗
❤️ Good 🙏 job ❤️ boss ❤️🙏
I have Lenovo Flex 3 1130. keyboard mouse not working. suddenly shuts down. I think this problem is chronic in this model. I couldn't find a solution anywhere, can you help me?
Najleprzy!!!!
It worked but what was the real problem?
As he prolly said, the SIO is responsible for the backlight, and he bypass this fuction from the SIO and the backlight was always on.
Correct me if im wrong.
@@ChrisPavlides correct , led on signal become high on the startup chip.. but can become low when u close the lid, so he has to test that also.. can be that closing the lid the backlight will stay on now..
The voltage that is already present on that cap( 3.3v with charger and 2.2v without) now with the added wire that brings 3.3v to that cap dont sum together? I mean 3.3v+3.3v=6.6V or am I wrong?? Thanks For Sharing
No voltage difference is same so voltage remain same only amp increases but load is limited so nothing is going to happen

no its very good example because when people try to fix it them selves , you will be very rich with all there blow outs lol
It's Lenovo....lol
just from one screen shot of the laptops keyboard (2:14) , i can tell the owner (or most frequent user) are right handed. Do not use numerals or special characters in their login password, or possibly other passwords. But they will use the characters: HTIORNEUP. Whats more.. any online account they may have is going to be similar passwords and that they use a password manager for those logins. a guess would be the browsers own password manager as they do not have the the time, maybe knowledge or possibly computer credentials enough to utilise or install a dedicated password manager. but thats just speculation.
