Unless you're willing to flash a modified BIOS, you're loosing at least about 15% performance running any Arc card in these older OEM systems as Arc is designed around Resizable BAR and these systems have no way to enable it despite being supported by anything with PCIe Gen3. Granted, the RX 6400 isn't really an option either since it's problematic in Gen3 slots and the 1650 is just too expensive, and you mind as well get the 3050 6GB. Hopefully the 3050 6GB will push used 1650 LP prices down to a more reasonable level, but I've managed to grab a couple for around $100, and that's what I would suggest people with these system buy.
H61/H81 chipsets for 3rd/4th generation (which is what is in the Optiplex 3010 and 3020) only support PCIe 2.0, so a modified BIOS may or may not help in this case. But I wouldn't be surprised to see it for the Optis since they're so popular. I would have liked to see him run some actual GAMES, not just 3DMark. Oh, hey... we meet again. lol
@@SeeJayPlayGames You're absolutely right, the 3010 and 3020 are Gen2 only, so the BIOS mod would be worthless for those people, but the system in the video is a 7010 which uses the Q77 chipset and definitely has Gen3. So it would absolutely work, but I don't think it's worth, even thought the A380 is really the best value at around $100 right now in the LP market... at least for a new card. It's just that modifying a BIOS and flashing it to the system is super risky for most. But yeah, I would have liked to see some actual games testing as well. Still might be better than resorting to something like a 1050 Ti or an RX 560 on the used market. I'm currently working on a bunch of testing with a ton of LP cards, A380 included. So, I'll be finding out for sure.

I’ll work on new videos demonstrating it in a different brand of old office PC with PCIe Gen3.

Interesting to see an Arc work in one of these old Optiplexes. I had a nightmare of a time trying to get a B580 to work in a Dell Precision T1700, and never could get it to work reliably. Most of the time it would boot to a blank screen, no Dell logo, couldn't get into BIOS. But occasionally if I left it off for a while, I could get it to boot into Windows. Then if I tried a reboot, it would go back to the blank screen. It definitely was hanging at boot because I couldn't RDP into it whenever the screen was blank. I initially had a E1240v3 Xeon w/ 16GB ECC, but I also tried it with a 4570 and 16GB non-ECC just to see if having an iGPU would make it less confused. Interestingly, I was able to get into BIOS once on the Arc card, and for video it showed me two options of "Intel HD" graphics, so I'm not sure it could tell the difference. I was running the A28 BIOS, which was released in 2019, and I didn't find any further updates. Since it seemed like it might be a hardware issue, I tried the Arc card in a more modern PC and it booted every time. I also tried Radeon and Nvidia cards in the T1700 and it also booted every time. I've got a Seasonic 750W in the T1700, so there shouldn't be any power issues unless they're at the pcie slot. I know the Optiplex 9020/7020 towers provide 75W at the slot, but I couldn't find any spec sheet to say for certain about the T1700 tower. All I know for certain is the problem isn't driver-related as I couldn't get anything to boot most of the time: not the SSD, not a Windows 10 install usb drive, nothing. I played with a number of BIOS settings (whenever I was actually able to get into BIOS) to no avail including specify the video adapter rather than defaulting to auto, turning legacy compatibility mode off, secure boot on and off, etc. So yeah...fun times :) All I could really conclude is the T1700 and B580 just don't like each other. But if anyone else manages to get a similar setup working, please let me know.
regarding the unsupported video configuration, in the Dell Bios there under Settings - Video - Multi-DIsplay, you'll need to check that off, then you can boot the unit and be plugged into the onboard or add on card.
I have seen several YT vids on not using resizable bar on the ARC series. Seems to hobble the GPU by about 15%. YMMV. I think you could make a video with this setup, and show how well it plays some older and less demanding titles. Since the vid card could be transferred into a new build, down the road, you might get a mom/dad who want to upgrade the old Dell in the garage for the kids to play minecraft, roblox, or something similar, and then move the card to an upgraded PC in a year or two as the kids get older.
I'm going thru what you went through right now. Except, my A380 fans stop spinning just after it starts booting. I've had to put a fan on the A380 to prevent overheat. @mayconrj2149 Without the fans? Absolutely it won't. It gets REALLY hot and I know this because when I first trying getting the card to work, it was in my test MB with i310100. The fans would not turn more than a second while it waited for the drivers to load. The card locked up during the driver install and it burned my hand when I reached down to see how hot it was. Your only option is the Sparkle which is a single slot card. I did get it working in the Thinkcenter following pretty much what the author of this channel did. I put it back in my test MB and now, oddly, the fans turn as they should. However, I could not get it to work at all (stuck on VGA light during boot). I 100% do not recommend this card to anyone.

Can ReBar UEFI improve H.265 video encoding with Handbrake, or is it primarily for enhancing gaming performance? Because Intel Arc A380 GPU is the best choice for video encoding, if it can improve performance with ReBar, that would be great.
Thanks for the review. It be great to get a follow up on real performance rather than synthetic. My 7010 sff is currently on order and I have really been torn into which GPU. Never considered the A380. Ideally, the 1050TI or 1650 would be preferred but prices in Australia 2nd hand are just ridiculous. My 7010 will be used for emulation so almost willing to go down the not so ideal 1030 route (the DDR5 variant). Pretty keen to run some Teknoparrot games as a bonus hence the Navidia GPU preference but to be realistic , I think the 1030 is lacking a bit of fire power. I did come across a 1050ti variant from AliExpress made by GraphicsPlayer for $200 Australian dollars. Not a lot on intel out there regarding these. Anybody here got any idea if worthy of a gamble? Or maybe give this ARC a bit more consideration?
For performance, I’d recommend GTX 1650 or RTX a2000. How much more are each of those right now in your country? I’ve seen the 1650 price come down recently in the US. The problem with the a380 is lack of Resizable BAR support in PCs older than 10th gen. There is a workaround that should work for gen 3, but I haven’t been able to get it to work with Dell’s BIOS. A follow up on performance in games is coming, but without getting ReBarUEFI to work, it’s not pretty.
Look forward to the follow up :) Yes totally agree that the 1650 is the preferred choice but just out of reach financially. Currently if you can source on eBay or marketplace, folks asking anywhere from $320-400 US dollars and a little more expensive for the A2000. 1050TI a bit more realistic but have noticed they are snapped up very quickly. Seen 1050’s sell for around the $100 US mark here, but very hard to get. For the time being I’ve just snapped up a new 1030 (DDR5 Variant) which will be fine for now and will run most emulated games I throw at it and a few teknoparrot games. Just can’t justify spending that sort of cash at recommend GPU’s. It just defeats the purpose of building a cheap emulation system. Might as well put those funds towards a full rebuild using a 3060 for example and have the best of both worlds utilizing for newer games as well as emulation. The RX6400 looks like a good option at around $160 US dollars but again, being a AMD card , prob not a good option for teknoparrot.
Man, I wish I could buy something like this here were I live (at those prices, PC hardware is WAY too expensive here, and second-hand market is just old/broken stuff). Would be finally able to update my AMD K10 + GT 1030 big un ugly tower :-D

Can ReBar UEFI improve H.265 video encoding with Handbrake, or is it primarily for enhancing gaming performance? Because Intel Arc A380 GPU is the best choice for video encoding, if it can improve performance with ReBar, that would be great.
It looks like the answer is yes according to this Reddit post: www.reddit.com/r/IntelArc/s/wdL5qW5Sr3
are you planning on doing a follow up with gameplay and benchmarks?
Yes, here you go:

I got a question, can a rtx a200p 6gb ddr6 work on my dell optiplex 7010 sff?
If you have the 240w power supply yes. Just remove Dell’s proprietary retention bracket b/c the a2000 will stop it from closing.
@@OptiGPU Alright thx I just wanted to know cause I am buying one.
Look forward to the follow up :)
Yes totally agree that the 1650 is the preferred choice but just out of reach financially.
Hey opti i wanna buy a rtx 3050 low profile and i wanted to know if it would work would be cool if you did a vid about it
I will look into picking one up for a video - thanks for the suggestion!
That system doesn't support resizable bar so pairing it with an Intel ARC GPU is a bad idea

Apparently someone got it to work in a 7010 with ReBarUEFI on GitHub
Top 👍
Super!
thank god more people are getting and showing off this graphics card, im debating if i should get this or not
As long as you’re able to turn on Resizable BAR. It should be good.
Rx 6400 is better imo maybe better drivers mine got a 10000 graphics score in firestrike and 8600 combined score with a newer i3 8100 in an hp sff pc
I bet that 8th gen i3 recked the 3rd gen i7
What flavor? Orange
