i’m a few days in, and although i got a longer pixie (due to a quarantine bleaching moment/fail, then using black dye over that bc my roots would grow so fast), my hair is for sure going to hit that weird mullet stage a month in, and i’m already dreading it 😂

Very helpful! I'm 14; only got the cut cause my hair was insanely damaged cause of stress, poor diet, heat damage etc. Since hair is such an important part of your image, it got me rly depressed, especially since I was insecure otherwise. Now I've had this cut for a year, I think it suits me well but I get mistaken for a guy a lot as I have quite a prominent jawline. And I've always wanted long hair. So from now on I'm growing it out, planning the stages. I'll update. Wish me luck xx

I’m growing out an asymmetric bob, bleached and purple highlights. I’ve had long hair most of my life and now, after all the edgy cuts, at age 66 I’m ready to settle in and grow it out all natural. When much younger women would ask me how I got my hair to grow bc their hair “just doesn’t grow”. I told them “The key to long hair is...(drum roll) don’t cut it!” Lol and it still is. Definitely cut the mullet but not another single hair. I graduated high school with hair down to my knees but of course from 1968-71 it was all about HAIR. Oh, I had the most outlandish hair in the 80’s. I see some 80’s fashion coming back and really really hate it. I hope this trend does not return. IMHO the 60’s had the best fashion since 1954.

I've tried to grow my hair out 3 times at this point. Everytime I was almost to a bob, I'd give in and go platinum and end up damaging it and have to start over. You are right on with saying it is almost impossible to grow it out bleached! This time I am about 5 months in on my natural hair. I've got the sides buzzed for the last time about a month ago. But I'm itching so bad to bleach it! Videos like this help and remind me the end goal will come and to not give in to the bleach!

Loved you transformation and fortunately my fine hair grows fast and I may have only a one year wait for shoulder length hair. I loved being able bro put my hair up. A little tip for girls on the mullet stage: what did I do to grow my pixie cut was to cut that mullet and the hair is more next to neck, so the upper bangs can grow until you can have a bob haircut. My hair took over a year to reach that lenght even doing what I mention, so don't worry and go to the salon and explain what you want, you can grow a pixie cut even cutting it

I have to say that it's ok to bleach/dye hair (blonde) and grow it out.
If you only bleach/dye your roots it's totally fine. Just don't overdo it... don't dye it all the time!
Better have it done once by a hairdresser, and then only touch up the roots.... it's better then dying your hair yourself and dying it to many times and then having to cut it.

Honestly my personal recommendations when growing out your pixie:
A)Biotin vitamins. I use this and i made sure my doctor said it was okay. It works amazing but this is not going to grow my hair alone like its a vitamin not a miracle worker.
    B) i know this is gonna sound like ape poo crazy... but i actually cut my own hair at home. I use a razor, actual like hair barber scissors, 2 mirrors(one large and one hand mirror), hair clips and rubberbands, a big old tee shirt i dont care about anymore, a spray bottle full of water, hair oil, a pin tail or as I call it a rat tail comb/brush, a headband(mine is like that flexable one with the wire so it bends to the shape of your head,A1 for this type of stuff) and yes some like clippers(if possible, find someone you trust to help you cut it)
I do this at my own risk, this is one of my recommendations and you dont have to follow it but it is something i am doing to help my hair grow out into a smooth bob. If you dont trust your self on this part, dont do it or practice on maybe some costume wigs like I did.
1.spray your whole head of hair wet, get your rat tail and slick it all the way to the back of your head and smooth it out til the wet hair is flat as possible to your hair (once and a while during all this, you might need to do this step over and over) then you have two options:
Option 1 of Step 2:Once all the wet hair is slicked back smooth, witha and mirror to guide you through this process by using 1 hand and guiding it to see the back of your hair, use the larger mirror to see the hand held mirror and get the scissors or the clippers and trim towards the nape of the neck in a straight line. You should end up with a straight line up in the back of your head.
Option 2 for step 2: the person you trust does the line up towards the nape of the neck for you(easiest one if you can find someone)
Step 3:use the razor and clean up any stubble on the back of your neck
Step 4:while hair is still damp, apply a thin layer of hair oil to the tips of your hair
    Done :)
    C. Invest in castor oil. It is by hair the best oil when it comes to thinning hair or growing out your hair.

I think the scalp massage tip actually would work to make it grow thicker and faster... I had a cast on my badly broken lower leg for 4 months in 2004. When I got the cast off, I freaking had to shave my lower leg EVERY day, or else I had coarse, abundant hair on it. The other leg was normal. TO THIS DAY - 13 years later - the broken leg's hair grows faster and thicker than the other (just a bit...not as exaggerated as before). And it's not like there's even a difference between my legs. I didn't have surgery, didn't need any pins or anything, and have even run lots of half-marathons and regularly do cartwheels, etc. So basically, it HAS to have been the pressure from the cast, since everything else is back to normal.

    • @jasminepurtell6105

Actually, it's not due to the pressure - it's because your body was working hard to fix your broken bone by increasing the amounts of nutrients/hormones/etc in the area! My brother broke his wrist and had the same issue, and the doctor told him the reason why :P

    • @windyventure
      @windyventure  7 років тому +1

Thank you for watching! I got maybe 2 or 3 "real" haircuts with an inch cut off, otherwise I would do baby trims in between by yours truly. I only had to get haircuts because I colored my hair a lot so my hair would be longer had I not colored my hair so many times. I'd recommend no color on the ends and maybe 1 trim per year, but if you are coloring your ends then more haircuts will be necessary.

I've had short pixie hair for a few years and I'm finally growing it out. I actually started growing it out a couple years ago but after having my baby my hair fell out like crazy and I had to cut it. I've gone through the struggle of hating the way it looks and wanting to bleach it and trim it to look cuter but your hair just does not grow out nicely at all. aside from trimming the neck mullet the best thing is to just leave it alone and find some cute hats! until it's long enough for a pony and then you have more and more options.

I'm at 9 months and one day to be precise. Two days ago my mom chopped off my LAST mullet! When I straighten my hair, it's officially a short, layered bob. I'm sosososoososo happy! I've had short hair now for almost four years, and I can't wait for it to be long again. I used to bleach my hair on my own as a teen, but no more lol! I'm thinking about bleaching it at my 1 year mark, or around there somewhere. My hair is very healthy and strong, so it should be fine. I just really want my pastel purple hair back.

My hair is bleached white and I've been managing to grow my hair out pretty successfully so far (I'm on month 3) so I definitely wouldn't rule it out - though I will admit I have naturally dark blonde, fine hair and bleach doesn't take very much time to develop on it.

"Give zero fucks" lol.... I'm in the 7 months grow out phase... grrrrrr! But like you said..... can finally see progress.. I refuse to cut off my mullet! Today is the first time I attempted some French braides.. and they worked!! Hallelujah!! Braids and Bobby pines will be my best friends for the next year. Thanks for the vlog hun... I needed it! (Ps.... I am using at home temp/semi perm hair color to keep the grey under control.... but lots of oil as well!)

I totally get the long style pixies on course hair did work. I have course hair and I'm cringing the longer pixie but at the same time I'm excited I'm growing out my buzz cut. Your pixie cut looked great on you though.

I currently have a short (long on top) pixie. I had a half shaved/half long bob before and one day...like many other times before in my life (3) I got my clippers and went to town...I really hate that im like that. But anyways, I got it professionally fixed and had a 1in clipper all around and long bob/top kinda thing going on. So it’s been a month and I already have horrible bead head most days and just trimmed the top to get the bottom to catch up so I don’t go through the mullet stage...I hate it! I can personally say that if you don’t really think about it and aren’t stuck on your hair growing taking long you’ll look back and have long hair again. I hate that when it’s just to a certain length and you cut it again...don’t do it! Unless you want to, cause of course it’ll grow back.

I’m at the ugly short mullet stage now. It’s at ear length and now kinda past my neck tattoo at the back. But I’m not getting a trim till the one year mark in February, if I decide to anyway. But I shaved my head completely. I can’t wait till it’s long again. My idol has the nicest hair and I envy her right now lol.
But I feel that my short hair makes me look 10 years older so I won’t cut it short again. :(
I have hair envy. I only cut mine 1-2 times a year if that. I take hair vitamins and use HG shampoo and conditioner. Right now it’s growing rapidly fast, Bondi boost.

Olive oil seems to work well for coarse hair, but on fine hair it’s not nice. Coconut oil is kind of nice. But argon oil has worked best for my very fine hair.

This is an awesome video and blog post. Thank you, Thank you, so much. I have been searching for how to grow out a pixie and just did not like what I found. Not informative enough I guess. Anyway, as you can see by my photo at left, I have a short pixie. It looks great on me but I just want longer hair one more time. So I'm trying. lol I am at the 1 - 2 month akward stage. You styled your hair so cute at all of the stages. Hope I can figure it out soon and not give in a another cut. Enjoy your trip ! And please blog about it. You are very interesting. Cheers ~
