I think the whole Rebel Moon experiment was a miscalculation on everyone's parts. Netflix for suggesting the PG-13 cuts, and Zack Snyder for, unfortunately, not being a very good writer in his own right. And yeah, I love Rebel Moon myself but looking at it without bias... this was a mess. But I'm sure Snyder will be fine, he's about to work on a much smaller movie soon, and hopefully, given the right material, he can easily make a comeback. However, Snyder will have to show some restraint. And yes, we're obviously going to get Rebel Moon 3 and Planet of the Dead. Snyder and Netflix have both been adamant on it. And hey, if Red Notice and Extraction are getting sequels, then AOTD and RM will get at least one more movie.

This is one of the reasons why he's so disliked a lot. It sucks cuz he'll always be one of my favorite comic book directors.
I disagree with us removing the whole freedom thing and just interfering with his projects all the time, because that's how we got Josstice League. In THIS case, Snyder himself has to re-evaluate how he does his films and maybe start working with other writers instead of writing his own scripts.
As a fan of Zack Snyder, I’ve noticed that his quality took a SHARP downturn a few years ago. It’s like, he stopped caring about making his movies/shows, and that care used to be a staple of his style that I love so much. It’s just sad.
I feel like there’s an alternate universe out there where instead of movies Snyder was a comic book writer/artist in the 90s on the same level as Rob Liefeld. Every thing about his work just reminds me of the bad edgy 90s comics of old.
Actually snyder got inspired from twisted metal/heavy metal magazine where he grew up reading those comic. Beside him, Scott Ripley and James cameron also reading those magazine and that's why this 3 directors has strong visual Cinematography
I feel like zach Snyder is somewhat similar to George Lucas in the sense that hes really really good at coming up with ideas shooting beautiful scenes stuff like that but isnt always so good at writing dialogue and pacing his stories very well he needs a good script writer to narrow down his creativity
Twilight of The Gods shows that Zack Snyder can still produce something good whenever he isn’t involved in writing the script and works with talented creatives like Jay Oliva.
He also needs help in the cinematography department, a good cinematographer would have given him a good ear flick every time he suggested a slow mo shot or making everything in the background of the shots blurry.
@Vaporious2000 I agree with you and George Lucas is one of my favorite filmmakers but I think they both have similar problems Zack Snyder's is way worse though because George Lucas is way more competent at portraying his ideas but he still has problems at certain things that being said I still love the prequels and pretty much everything else he's made
I love Zack - his DC films are my favourite CBM’s EVER. But this Rebel Moon Universe - both PG & Rated-R cuts …… I HATE. Part 2 in Rebel Moon is my lowest ranked Snyder film(s) ever. Such a shame - I just want Army of the Dead Universe back and fleshed out.
I watched part 1 and was bored. I was wondering when that cool robot was going to come back in and kick ass. He never does. The rest of the characters are lame, especially the main character. I haven't watched the director cut or part 2 because why would I.
The reason why there are PG-13 versions is because Scott Stuber wanted to use Zack Snyder's popularity to kickstart Netflix into the theatrical release business, he is basically responsible for Rebel Moon even happening, when he was overruled by Ted Sarandos in october or november, he left the company shortly after, the reason why Zack had a 35mm film version to show at CCXP in Brazil was because it was supposed to be used for a real theatrical run that never happened. CCXP was more than welcome for it to be shown there as an exclusive. There are NDAs on this but you can put the news releases about Rebel Moon, Ted Sarandos talking repeatedly about theatrical movies not happening, and Scott Stuber leaving the company in January together.

I found the first release "ok". Like, when I was about to get into the story, BAM, it cut to another scene in another planet, you could feel the movie was chopped as hell. And for Part 2 I barely even remembered any of it. I went the same as you, it took me some time to watch the director's cut, but when I watched a couple of weeks ago I really really enjoyed, especially part 2. I love Zack Snyder. But I am aware how polarizing his movies are so if you hate it, that's okay. I understand. To me, Zack is like someone who reads an instruction manual. If he follows it right, he will make a great movie, like 300 and Watchmen. Or sometimes, he reads it half assed and made Man of Steel. But when he tries to make his own instruction manual, he makes movies like Sucker Punch and Army of the Dead. As for Rebel Moon, I thought it was okay. Maybe if he drafted the story better, he would have made something better. Like develop the characters and show how awesome they are, cut the unnecessary, make better action scenes, etc. I know he could have done better with the films.

I’m not a fan of Snyder’s filmography, (mainly because I haven’t seen most of his projects.) but I’m happy he has a lot of fans and I wish him the best of luck on his career.
problem with a shitty writer, and snyder is one of those, he didn’t write any of his successful projects, is that more word counts won’t make their writing better, if anything, taking words from them would yield a better result, if rebel moon was the studio letting him have his ways and putting everything in, then he really has nothing to offer in terms of story or world-building, just slo-motion and his brand of corporate safe “edge” over scenes that carries no weight, so in the end it’s an uphill battle to even care about the visuals
I still like it, with flaws and all. Are they the best movies that Zack Snyder made? No. Are they intresting? Yes. Do i want a conclusion to Rebel Moon? Yes!
@ out of the core team, Djimon Honsou as Titus was probably my favorite simply because he’s Djimon Honsou. The guy has an awesome screen presence, and it’s cool to see him kickass considering how jacked he is for 60
This was such a massive letdown. This was supposed to be a competitor to Star Wars. Instead it’s just Zack’s extreme edgy vision of what he thinks SW should be. I can’t believe I was looking forward to this at one point.
Rebel Moon had potential but at this point I just don't care about it. Also did you listen to the audiodrama about the origin of the Jimmys? To be honest I gave up after 2 episodes because I got bored of it.
Actually Aris in the original version looked like a simp like “hey look a blonde chick, I must hit that booty even it it mean going against my brotherhood”. However, the director’s cut makes Aris literally a Rebel and this whole movie should have been his story of redemption. Now you understand why he liked the chick. Using Kora made no sense. Heck she “k*lled” an immortal being whilst Aris literally had to smoke his dad in front the entire family to prevent said family from getting hurt and still…..
There are comic books about this, there was supposed to be a Ttrpg too. The sheer out of touchness Zack displayed with this Rebel Moon franchise reminds me of when Will Smith was so certain After Earth would be a success that he planned to have comic books, video games and phone apps made for it before the movie even released.
Zack Znyder when it comes to everything outside of writing is great. While I haven't watched the second rebel moon, I did appreciate how "epic and big" the scope was but was hindered cause of the awful writing and pacing. There are a lot of beautiful shots, the scores and sound effects are amazing but the writing is just his bane. If Znyder ever learns to just accept his writing is crap and just gives his ideas to someone else so they can turn it into an actual coherent well paced story his movies would much more enjoyable then just mind numbing eye candy with 40 mins worth of slow mo. Like for example one thing I love in Man of Steel and his version of superman is just the sheer raw power portrayed when he fights, the speed, the strength, the way he flys is just oozing comic book nerdgasm visually and I doubt any other director will ever get close to the eye candy that was Znyders portrayal of superman. The writing sure wasn't there 100% of the time but dear god were the fights amazing and till this day I'll just watch those fights just for the sake of watching them.
Snyder didn't do script in any of his movie, he only did screenplay. Man of steel itself was written by david S goyer with Christopher Nolan in 2009. Because of his screenplay in all of his movies, he capable to do good visual on screen.
Rebel Moon is proof that you must have a great "story". Snyder is one of the best at action pieces, blowing things up, fight scenes, slow motion cuts, gore, etc. none of that matters if the story doesnt resonate with the audience.. it wasnt a good story and thats why it failed. Thats why Nolan is great because he spends years developing a story and does research on the subject material before anything else. thats whats lacking from other creators, they are not working on the STORY
The writing was terrible and so much about that world didn't make any sense. What you're left with is pretty but it has zero substance. Filmmakers seem to have blinders on when it comes to getting various shots that are in their heads onto the screen. They want so and so to fight such and such in some place doing some thing. They don't seem to care about what consequences the shit has as long as they get it. Lucas is really really bad about this and it's why he ruined his old films and why the prequels look like PS3 games. It's why the original Jabba's palace music was replaced with that horrible mess. Snyder did nothing but "get the shot" in Rebel Moon. Ever else took a back seat and that's why those movies suck ass.
I tried getting through this, i wanted it to be great so disney could see everything they were doing wrong... but sadly it wouldve fit right in with Disney's garbage star wars.
Showing the reviews for a snyder movie wasnt really relevant imo. Reviews arent what matters. The amount of money it makes matters. So i think your early point by showing the reviews was irrelevant.
@boboboy8189 i know but isn't it (mag. 7) derived from 7 samurai as well? I haven't seen 7 samurai so I can't compare that but I have seen Mag. 7 which is comparably similar to Rebel Moon just without the space opera thing 😅

problem with a shitty writer, and snyder is one of those, he didn’t write any of his successful projects, is that more word counts won’t make their writing better, if anything, taking words from them would yield a better result, if rebel moon was the studio letting him have his ways and putting everything in, then he really has nothing to offer in terms of story or world-building, just slo-motion and his brand of corporate safe “edge” over scenes that carries no weight, so in the end it’s an uphill battle to even care about the visuals
Snyder did screenplay for this movie but script was written by 3 people who never won any award
Netflix should just become the Asylum streaming service.
I still like it, with flaws and all.
Are they the best movies that Zack Snyder made? No.
Are they intresting? Yes.
Do i want a conclusion to Rebel Moon? Yes!
I had a pretty fun time with the directors cuts. I think Ed Skrein as the Admiral was the best part, he was having a blast.
He is, for me none of our team are relatable
@ out of the core team, Djimon Honsou as Titus was probably my favorite simply because he’s Djimon Honsou. The guy has an awesome screen presence, and it’s cool to see him kickass considering how jacked he is for 60
This was such a massive letdown. This was supposed to be a competitor to Star Wars. Instead it’s just Zack’s extreme edgy vision of what he thinks SW should be. I can’t believe I was looking forward to this at one point.
I swear Rebel Moon looks like everything mixed together and it doesn’t fit. It’s the Sonichu of movies.
The Snyder fandom when you say something slightly negative about Snyder movies 0:01
Snyder did the impossible, he made Disney actually make a good decision about Star Wars...
And it was STILL better than the acolyte 🤷🏽♂️
No it isn’t.
@ yes it 100% is. Had more views AND the RT scores shows it better
Nice video. Audio mixing could use work, imo. Volume seems way up when you play a clip.
Rebel moon is a global phenomenon and the hate is strictly online
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Please don't announce your delusions so publicly.
Had an impact on me. Loved them this world is better.
It was BvS:TC v BvS:UC all over again.
If the franchise wasn't so funny and I have alternatives, I'd be very disappointed. These films are BAD but HILARIOUS.
Ngl my faith in daddy Zack is being tested every single day
It baffles me that Snyder made it pg13. It's Netflix.
Tex came back before GTA VI
So called Star Wars killer, bite him in the ass, LMAO
Hab den Director's Cut nicht gesehen.
The Suicide Squad novel don't have the true final act from Ayer's cut. You will have that in the screen writting. Wich is available.
I’m not gonna lie I still haven’t seen the 😂directors cut yet I only watch movie one
you can tell he's Tex by the way he walks!!! 🚶♂️
Bro finally came back with the milk
Would it be interesting if He would Direct The Legend of SPyro Trilogy? (I'm a Huge fan of it) I Mean he did Legend of the Guardians
I just want legend of the guardian sequel......
“Rebel Moon Experiment”
Bro it was just another generic bad movie, stop trying to act like it was anything other than that
Showing the reviews for a snyder movie wasnt really relevant imo. Reviews arent what matters. The amount of money it makes matters. So i think your early point by showing the reviews was irrelevant.
Yes it does matters, without good review, even a profitable film won't have sequel
@boboboy8189 that's a logical fallacy
i cringed at twilight of the gods sadly
Cheese has risen🧀
🫡
im only interested in his army of the dead corner
That was cancelled
@@TheBlond49what? When?
@@gbrogo7139when they announced rebel moon few years ago
sure
Damn i didn't even notice you've been dead for five months
I missed you too
Ok
What a massive let-down. My goat washed 💔
Why are all the transition joke about gay sex lmaoo
You're welcome 🗿
It looked like garbage right form the 1st trailer.
The definition of streaming content slop. And the comic is even worse.
I had hopes, but it was okay, not great not bad just okay. Really forgettable
I'm just disappointed 😞
Sorry Snyder but Magnificent 7 was better. 😢 hope he does better next time.
Snyder didn't do magnificent 7, he do seven samurai if you watch his interview
@boboboy8189 i know but isn't it (mag. 7) derived from 7 samurai as well? I haven't seen 7 samurai so I can't compare that but I have seen Mag. 7 which is comparably similar to Rebel Moon just without the space opera thing 😅
Snyder should stop trying to build a franchise a focus at one-off stories
