Ron, you're my favorite bassist. One album that I've played for decades is George Benson's "Beyond the Blue Horizon." What you do on "So What" is captivating. The way you and DeJohnette play in your solo sounds more like an improvised dialogue, which has never been matched. Now back to Mulgrew Miller. I love the melodies he finds on "In Your Own Sweet Way." I love how he develops the solo and plays short phrases which answer each other, and how he uses his double time phrases with discretion. It sounds like he's using Duke Pearson's "Jeannine" as a vamp to set up the time. Timeless, soulful, elegant.
i wish they were more recordings of mulgrew playing standards in solo piano. i truly think that's some of the most beautiful things in the world. he's an inspiration, i'm such a big fan of him.
It is so inspiring to get this comment from you, Sir. Thank you! I love your music I am your big fan. Mulgrew Miller, Donald Brown, James Williams, Harold Mabern, Jeff Keezer ✨✨✨✨✨
One of the things I love about Miller is those long versions of tunes he does... If you wanted to study him, there's so much contained on just one of these to last you a long time I guess. And then there's his harmonic palette, which, at least for me, fit him in the category of players like Kenny Barron, Barry Harris etc... toe curling harmonies.
he doesnt seem to be brought up much in discussions about modern pianists unfortunately. i guess it's because he didn't really innovate much, he was just a solid modern player
Mr. Miller was a great musician and a true friend of mine... Thank you for sharing his music here.

The great ron Carter wow ❤
Why is he playing in that disgusting place?
As an Irish Catholic, I'd rather see him play in the US or Europe.
Not some parasitic state like Israel.
