I am very upset that this show was not not cancelled, but that they never released the episodes that were recorded. This was well on its way to being one of my favorite shows :(

This was so good tho. The concept, plot, pacing could do a little speed but it's amazing. I hope it gets funded again. :(

hey idiot. the time machine didn't "went" to new york. they said it was taken there, to be in an exposition. Which doesn't makes sense, since the machine was in that period travelling through time. You can't have a machine travelling through time AND staying still and being taken around at the same time.

Yes, the only time machine in all science fiction that even takes movement of the stars and planets into consideration is the Tardis. We are already used to it, if you didn't get it yet.

This show is entirely to good to be accepted by today's audiences. They would rather watch the simple minded garbage they love to see.
Too good? The acting is atrocious and the premise doesn't even make sense. Just go back in time and not tell his friends about the time machine and hey presto, problem solved. Very poor writing indeed.

@@LittleLeighVisual Also most things just happened because of "idiot plot". Bad writing indeed. I.e. there always is an easy solution, but they managed to screw it up every time. Also the time machine itself didn't make sense at all, since it always changed they way of how it worked. Originally it froze in time, then it jumped, then it could even teleport,...
I'm not sure about all that but I really wish they would've made more than one season

Funny you wrote that, because in the movie this show was based on, Jack flips through TV channels for Herbert and says that in their time he was an abomination but in our time he's an amateur.
Pretty sure that is literally one of the main points of concept for this show, and of course the novel/film it is based on...
Read a detailed account of what shape The Ripper left most of his victims in, and ask that again.

so, having absolutely NO IDEA this even existed, I wondered to myself why there isn't a remake of the 70s version. Here we are, and this looks pretty good!
I can't see why a remake was necessary, honestly. It's not as if there was anything in the story that needed updating.

That's unfortunate. I expected a fun time-traveling adventure, but it dragged like a brick. The show was much more exciting and fast-paced while it lasted.
The original had Malcolm McDowell in it, the new version has some nobody in it. It's often said, but whoever it is who gives the go ahead for new productions should stop rehashing old ideas, it almost never works.

The show was very interesting though, H.G wells distorted the fabric of time and created 3 new timelines while trying to save Jane
I just watched the entire season 1.....Its a very good show, but with a lot of Contradictions and holes in the story about the Time Line and its affects. But what a real shame they cancelled it.
I don't understand how you can say it was a great show and then rightly point out that it was full of plot holes, in the same sentence lol. Why would you want a show full of plot holes to not be cancelled? Lol there's much much better shows out there with really great writing, acting, directing and plots that make sense and are tightly intelligently written.

The problem is Malcolm McDowell and David Warner were so superb in their performances anyone else is pale in comparison. That is why it was canceled. They really needed to cast some impressive talent to make this work.

I mean why give H.G Wells a clean cut I mean the guy is from the 19th century and why does he look like a teenager... and that Jack the reaper guy looks like a GQ model, like what the fuck man, he's not even scary, nothing edgy about him. The concept of this show was on point but who ever was in charge of the casing and directing killed this show.
he didn't have a clean cut, he had a moustache. Also, the guy worked a hell of a lot in various occupations in his young life so he would have been quite muscular

They don't show his glasses in this trailer, but he wears them for most of the 1st episode, then without explanation, never again, except for a brief 2nd episode moment while working on time machine, then a second later mysteriously, they're missing!

I saw the original 1979 movie and am looking forward to seeing this. So far it is not on UK satellite TV channels so I am wondering if the pilot episode is out on DVD as a TV movie? Back in 1993 I think it was they made a movie along similiar lines where Sherlock Holmes freezes himself and is woken up in San Fransisco in 1994, where he then proceeds to solve a case involving a descendant of Professor Moriarty who is a crime lord.

So in the TV show The Adventures of Lois and Clark thr superman show which aired yrs ago, there was an episode where H.G. wells time traveled to prevent certain things from happening..... Well, apparently they thought it'd be great to make a show based on H.G. wells and his time traveling....

Will this be out on Blu ray i haven't seen this new take. ive seen the original 70s version years ago when i was a kid and liked it.But i have seen on the web that its been canceled its a shame as i dont watch series as they just go on and on and i forget to watch them and cant keep up with them unless there all on Blu ray as a complete box set but this one i would of watched lol

they juggled time travel, love and murder... and they focused the least amount of attention on time travel. made it hard to give a shit about the story imo. Could have been great.

Yeah, watching this trailer it's the exact plot, only Welles chases Stevenson through time to San Francisco not New York, Stevenson was Jack the ripper, played by David Warner who is brilliant. this and Westworld are two great movies, TV seem to be running out of idea's.

Everything doesn't have to be (and isn't) but many "original" movies/books/series are derivative of something that came before it.
