Watching this trailer, I thought I saw the whole season but I realized it was mostly the backstory of the story. I really recommend this show because the acting and the story is spectacular!

I cannot believe all the comments of people who are upset that the trailer 'told the whole story' its history you should already know the whole story. This is just a dramatization and visualization of that. Why are you all so upset? Or are there that many Americans that ignorant of western history, culture and art? This is the story of the Medici they shaped the Renaissance and world history for god's sake.
Yes and everyone knows the Titanic sank and that the Germans invaded Poland. But the point is that the trailer spoils the show not history. Often times shows will manipulate history to try to make it more dramatic. How could you tell who's American just from youtube comments...

LOL you guys really think they study things like this like in middle school or high school in America?? If I asked my American friends who the Medici were I think they won't be able to answer. Yes, if you're Italian you know this and probably you know even better season 2 (to me it went like this idk with others) and you can't really complain, although this is no trailer but basically a summary of the whole series in 6 minutes. But don't assume people study Renaissance and Medieval times as thoroughly as we do. Things are different if they're history major or history buffs but generally I don't think they focus on this since it's not their history. Can't really speak for other countries too but unless they were directly involved with THIS history I doubt they'll know or remember much about the Medici.
The most correct part of the story, according to history, are the names and that they were bankers. Everything else is pretty fictional.

To everyone talking about how this trailer is full of spoilers, i recomend not reading wikipedia on Cosimo Medici, history of the Florence, or anything related to 15th century Italy.
Also, refrain from reading any other historical source on the subjects mentioned.
If you want to be extra safe about any other history tv show, do not ever read about any events that happened in history.
I was particularly angry when my girlfriend spoiled show Narcos for me telling me that (SPOILER ALERT) Escobar dies at some point. I never saw it coming.

actually no... a trailer is not supposed to show the whole storyline. Where's the fun in watching it if you know after watching this 5min trailer that his father is dying, he gets married, then they want him dead for treason... Sorry, but to me it really spoilt everything. They won't be any surprise moments after watching this, which is a pity because the character cast looks promising and the Medici story is a really intersting one.

except season 2 will have Lorenzo de Medici as the main guy, so Cosimo will be at least 70 years old in season 2, they will probably change the actor. It is a great series but the main reason I saw it was the King in the North

I was thinking of the Borgias and the Tudors during this as well as they were all powerful around the same time.

I. have just finished to watch the whole first season in Netflix ,and well as a history nut, Assissins Creed fan and having visited Florence 2 weeks ago, this series was splendid, well acted and with beautiful soundtrack, highly recommended

I have read that it will be about Cosimo' s grandson, so i guess it wont be any story with first season characters, am i right?? If you have any further information, please share it! i have read that season 2 will be about Lorenzo, but it was an old article. i guess there isn't any official announcement
Yes season 2 is about Lorenzo il Magnifico and some characters from season 1 actually make little cameos during the episodes. Since I'm italian I just finished it,and in my little I loved it. I recommend it mainly for the great scenarios,costumes and some of the dialogs. I personally don't know if it's already available in english but it is in italian. Have a good day 👍🏼

(rape) is going to come into the plot - I actually read that where Catherine was residing, for a time before her marriage, was besieged, due to some conflict, I can't recall what - I think that the scene was a good blend of history & fiction, & Masters of Florence should perhaps incorporate it in.
is Reign even remotely historically accurate?
I looked at them treating it as more... a springboard, if you will - as much as it frustrates me, sometimes you have to just park your brain at the door & enjoy something purely for entertainment value; if the era & performances piques your interest, then it's doing its' job. I'd be hard-pressed to call it historically accurate, but, most of the people were real- if not always accurately depicted: Mary *did* have 4 ladies... but they were all called Mary - so you can see why their names were changed- as with Queen Leeza (historically, her name was Elisabeth, too similar to Elizabeth I)- they seem to have conflated Claude with Marguerite (despite mentioning her vaguely earlier on)- & there are plenty of hints to the real history, sure enough - watching the religious conflict was interesting- as I was uncertain how they'd handle it, because I had ancestors (from Lorraine) whose departure from France predated the more famous exodus of the later 17th c (that may get covered in 'Versailles'), due to the religious wars- in particular, the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre. Over all, you have to take shows set in the past with a grain of salt: they can't include everything.

When I first read these series of Medici I felt cultivated, (bas relief) the Spanish rule couldn't handle the Italians, Penelope the mother of Raphael kept wearing a white veil and it felt like she swung with different men to distract people. It wasn't until the priest who underneath, kept pressing his colleagues to do away with some of this pressure, which they did.
