Ok thank you for watching and your ongoing support, Much Love.
The *fan* is so essential, bro. That thing saved me from a missile once. The guy fired a heat seeker and I was the hottest thing in the Hind. The fan cooled me off juuust enough for it to miss Lol
Nice video! Just one thing to remind you. Choppers don't need to be continually moving. They are not jets. ;) Remain at your stand-off distance and pick off targets as they become available. If something shoots at you, you can't turn and burn away. You take it and kill the target. Most combat choppers are armoured. Choppers are an aggressive asset that uses distance, terrain and patience to win battles and accomplish missions.
The Hind is actually meant to be employed specifically in run-in attacks like this. It's big and fat, and its weapons are short-ranged. But it's also really fast and stable in forward flight, making it a great gunnery platform. So you fly towards your target at speed, take your shot, break-off before they fire back, rinse and repeat. The stand-off tactics you describe are more suited to the Ka-50, the Gazelle and (soon) the Apache. While the Huey and Mi-8 are employed quite similarly to the Hind.
@@arthurvilain7270 you are very right on the tactics employed to use the Mi-24. Which makes my comment a mute point in this case. However the Mi-24 (upgraded Mi-35)) is a close support & troop transport chopper when supporting infantry against light targets. But as a dedicated attack chopper its too big, not very maneuverable and limited in stand-off abilities. Flying at 335km/h is fast but try shooting a moving target, or a stationary target, at those speeds and hitting it with any accuracy. It has to be low and slow to be effective on the battle field. Infantry love huge, slow moving targets that need to repeat its attacks to be effective. In Afganistan it was a sitting target for infantry with RPG's (loosely) or anti air missiles (stingers), not to mention AA or AAA batteries. This weakness is why the chopper has to move so its not shot down by ... small arms fire or .50 cal guns. The technology in the Mi-24 is also dated and lacks the stand-off abilities (min: 5 miles / 8km) of western and Asian counterparts (Apache Gaurdian, Mangusta, Bell Viper, Tiger, T129 ATAK, Ciac Z-10) to deal with armour effectively. Though Russia's Mi-28 Havoc and Kamov Ka-52 are the best Russian examples of a dual roll support chopper, currently in service, that was designed to engage and survive light and heavy armoured targets with stand-off capabilities and effective infantry support. The Mi-24 is the "jack of all trades, master of none" chopper. Its a weapon of fear, not practicality in modern warfare. Good points @Arthur Vilain! Thank you. Note: The AGM 114 Hellfire Missile has a stand-off range of 6 miles (11km) and all US choppers can use them ... including Blackhawk and Huey transports. It also has fire-and-forget capabilities making it an ideal weapon for close in support missions.
