Micah, this was terrific!!! My grandfather was born in 1881. He was a conductor on the passenger and freight trains in Western PA. We have a few artifacts from that time, including ticket punches, lamps, and hats like the ones you showed in this museum. I really enjoyed this episode, and I truly appreciate the care you put into showing the showcases full of artifacts! Thank you!!!
It's a great little museum. It's free so definitely donate some to help keep the place up and running. They do a good job educating young and old folks alike.
That is the old Morse code used in the railroad days. Some of the letters and numbers are different today. There is no more spacing or longer dashes (dahs). All numbers now are a combination of five dits (dots) and/or dahs (dashes). In the amateur (ham) radio community, it is more commonly know as CW (continuous wave). The dits and dahs are the breakup of the continuous wave.
