First is that whole job is like polishing a turd. That whole flat room area needs to be rebuilt because it originally was a DYI project. With the roofing, siding and the addition, That's a $75K to $100K job. I blame the home owners. This was probably the cheapest bid, there were no permits pulled, likely an unlicensed contractor. My advise to anyone hiring a contractor; License, Insured, permits and most importantly NEVER hire someone that hasn't been in business at least 5 years and more extensive renovations, 10 years. Bad contractors that are doing bad work and lack experience don't stay in business more than a few years.
I have a long update video launching tonight. When you hear the conversation (argument) with the contractor, please chime in with your professional opinions.
This contractor been at it for a long time and is surprisingly a big name in this area. He is well known as a hack by other contractors in the area. Many often wonder how he has stayed in business as long as he has.
The hope is that the contractor will come and do the work to open the wall to prove their framing is proper. Otherwise, the homeowner will have to hire someone to open the wall at their expense.
I just found your channel through this video and I've been loving your content!
Happy you're here! :)
that sister joist killed me. i feel bad for the homeowners, but i'm glad they're trying to do something about the bad work.
Why would you spend that kind of money on a reno and not get rid of the flat roof. That would have been #1 on my wish list.
You should inspect the whole house before they spend another dime; it all looks sketchy. Being the bearer of bad news is never fun.
Tom Hanks will have to narrate from Italy
First, call the city or town to see if the so-called Contractor is Licensed and has Liability Insurance!
Which means nothing. First, ask for references and follow up on them.
@@nonyadamnbusiness9887 The so-called "references" may have been scammed, and are oblivious to it!
No contractor licensing here.
4:29 try to drill a hole though the OSB. You should feel if there is a beam or just cavity with insulation.

Tony hawk half pipe lol
Only way that was worth 60K, is if there's 59K in materials. 😢
What do you mean you'll see if they'll let you do an invasive inspection? The contractor doesn't get a say in that...

That’s just awful! The boys from the school shop could have done better.
