  • What do you do to produce a multi-camera live-stream event from the middle of a huge tree farm for a wedding? Cameras have batteries, but pan and tilt? What about master control switching? Audio mixing? Wireless camera connectivity? Cellular data in a remote area?
I'll walk you through one solution for producing a stream like this, where one operator does it all. Multiple cameras are able to remotely pan and til to follow the action, audio is mixed live on location, including stereo sound for the nature that surrounds the bride and groom. Then see all the cameras, switch between them, and send that signal to the internet so remote friends and family can take part in this couple's wedding.

Not sure if you are still monitoring this, but can you tell me where you got the small shelf for the top of the 13’ pole? I can’t find one to save my life…just really big ones. Thanks!

Love it! What a great walkthough! I know about the initial setup but it is always nice to have confirmations about how it is generally done. The Modem tripod was gigantic or seemed to be! Loved the low tech "card board" solution, something I have been concerned about and wondering how I would deal with it in the future. Not good for Osmo based cams unfortunately, but fantastic for static cams in direct sun as I could guess might be needed in sports sotuations. Love the tinkering you do! I initially liked the google pucks for their battery powering capability. I prefer the simplicity of a higher output router, but then you get the drawkback of needing 19volts, which you can't do on anything other that car charger AC adaptor sorts of things... Jury still out on how practical that is (I haven't done a recent test for time).

Yes, the google Wifi does have the advantage of being easily battery powered, but shorter range. When I need longer range, I deploy multiple pucks.

Hi Mr. Burokas. This video is a couple of years old now. Do you still find this set-up useful, or have you modified -- a little or a lot? Thanks.

I still have all the same gear, but covid stopped my in-person production cold. I went to remote production using vMix to handle up to 8 remote guests each with their own independent connection that I could manipulate. For small gigs I now also use a YoloBox that can accept DSLRs and long-lens camcorders.

@@IEBATechThoughts Thanks for the update. I was strongly looking at mobile streaming solutions before the coronpocalypse, which put the breaks on those efforts. I'm beginning to re-approach now, but am leaning towards phones over NDI (as opposed to SwitcherStudio and its competitors) with a Tricaster Mini.

@@rbraxley That does offer a compelling solution, and NDI opens up so many other avenues. It is nowhere near as simple, inexpensive, and lightweight as SwitcherStudio, so they really are like two different tools in the toolbox. Switcher Studio was a great tool and I used it regularly when it fit my needs at the time. But since Covid, those particular clients haven't come back. If they did then it's the perfect widget for that need. :)

Great video not seen anyone do this type of setup. Could we possibly set this up at a basketball game one Center court camera, then using 2 iPhone cameras under both hoops on a gimbal unmanned? I use vmix and a atem mini. How would I control the gimbal. I know we could use NDIi for the iphones bia vmix but how to remotely control the gimbal? Once again you videos are excellent and explained very well!

Hello, do you have the phones connected to the m1 or the puck? I am a new switcher user and would like to do outdoor events. Thanks in advance.

I separate the cellular to the M1, and then ethernet to the Google puck for WiFi.
1: if the M1 goes down because of heat (which it has) the phones all stay connected and communicating. This is important because any manual settings are lost if the devices lose contact.
2: I've had much better success with Google's 2016 WiFi pucks than I've ever had with the M1 WiFi. If fact, they've never let me down. The M1 WiFi has.

    Nice. Thx for the tour.
What batteries are you using for pucks, and also the gimbals? Ran into this yesterday.

We have several different kids, usually with two outputs, for when I need to power both the gimbal and the phone from one external battery.
