  • Welcome back to Lake*Trotter. Fishing.
Ealier this year I said goodbye to my Grandad, Bampy Des. Today's session, 28th September 2024, would have been my Grandads 90th Birthday.
The past 3 or four days have not been good for fishing on the Afon Lwyd so just before midday I decided to check the conditions as I really wanted to put a few fish in the net using my new Wychwood Drift Nymph MK2 before the trout season ended. I waited months for this rod to be delivered and had a washout since I recieced it.
On checking the river, the conditions had much improved. Clearer water, running a lot calmer and lower. So I drove home and got my gear together.
I was very happy that on my Bamps birthday I could wet a line and hopefully Bamps could bring me some luck to catch a couple of Trout before the fish spawn.
I had a great day on the river and lots of fun. Yet at the same time, was kind of sad that my first season had come to an end.
I hope you enjoy this final Trout fishing video and thank you to all who have subscribed to my channel. Also, thank you all for your patience while I learn the basics of this magnificent, exciting method of fishing.
This would probably not have been possible without the help of one man, Nathan, who's expertise and guidance have dramatically improved my catch rate. So a massive thank you to Nathan, and the help is greatly appreciated!
Admittedly, I still need to work on my netting of fish as that can be a bit "sketchy" to say the least! But that's something to work on through the winter while I take on a new adventure exploring new waters to catch a new species on my list...the Grayling!
I hope you are all well and I'll catch you on the next adventure!
Take care out there and all the best!
Tight Lines, wet Nets and happy Spawning Trout!
