Sorry, I don't have experience in washing it, as I no longer own it. However, I do own a few fleeces, and they do not shrink when washed as long as you hang them to dry and don't put them in the dryer.
I have Patagonia better sweater, Arcteryx covert and kyanite LT. Love the fit of the covert the best. The better sweater is a touch warmer and nice but slightly loose on the midriff. The kyanite is very light and stretches well .
How does it compare to the Arc fleeces? Do you need to be exercising/trekking etc to wear it on its own? I guess if you’re static/walking around town it won’t be warm enough.
I would say that this fleece is most like the kyanite in the Arc'teryx lineup. Similar in weight and warmth. As with all fleece jackets, they are warm, but breathable. They can work as a standalone, but only if it's not too cold or windy. They are great as a layer under an insulated jacket, as they will then provide extra needed warmth. Sometimes just a thin light shell over it can make a big difference in keeping you warmer.
Lot of people drag down the zip-neck version of R1 Air compared to Full-Zip Hoody. Don’t agree with them. This is a 2nd layer fleece, not jacket. For me, hood is just a nuisance. As for sizing, depends on the person. I am 195cm,110kg, athletic build and XL is great for me. XXL is to wide around my abdomen. As if it is designed for people with large stomach
The nano puff is an insulated jacket, while the R1 is a breathable fleece. The nano puff will be warmer. The fleece can also be worn under the nan puff jacket. The R1 fleece is great for high output activities as well.
Does it shrink after washing?

Great reviews. Keep going!

I love my R2 🙌

The full zip, compared to 1/2 zip, are all different options that we can choose from. Something for everyone.🙂
In terms of warmth, do you think is better than Patagonia Nano Puff?

What color is that?
Sorry, I don't remember the color, but I don't see that same color available at this time.
as always great video
It’s all a step down from Arc’teryx.
