In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Silent. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. Did he end up playing animal well? Honestly it was definitely one of my favorite games I played this year and I did everything I could do before I had to look up a guide I only needed three eggs and I'm sad that I literally missed them stupidly. But on the other hand that game was an absolute blast
Yes, Baalor played Animal Well. He said it's a cute game and the upgrades / metaprogress are done in a unique and fun way, but he doesn't like that there's no music and that the game does not give the player any direction.

I was afraid of Dead Branch for a while because I didn't want my hand filled with random cards. But then it single-handedly saved my ass in a Heart fight, and now I'm sold. It rocks.
It’s one of the best relics in the game and is borderline unfair. The key to understanding its power is that it puts cards into your hand THIS TURN.
Branch is card draw which is kinda decent
Bad with pyramid unless you have corruption
Never underestimate the power of random bullshit
Dead branch in a watcher deck with deva form and all the exhaust energy and smite cards is busted.
Timestamps for when Baalor picks up the cards in the thumbnail (Bouncing Flask x2 and Catalyst x3):

Catalyst #2: (43:45)
Catalyst #3: (50:58)
With so much Poison falling from these Bouncing Flasks, it's no wonder these cards were the Catalyst for a Silent victory!

You got a Burst Poison deck! I literally just got something like this last night, though I was lucky enough to pick up Adrenaline too for some Burst > Adrenaline combos. On the other hand, you actually got a Catalyst, which was missing from my run -- Burst > Catalyst definitely insane, I just had to settle for Deadly Poisons galore, so I had no scaling.
A change to dead branch i thought of is: Every 3 cards exhausted, gain a random card. Or something along those lines , between 2-5 exhausted cards
At 45:40 - you wouldn't play Apoth if you had 1hp and a [Pain] in your opening hand, I suppose. Rough start but it's a possibility.
Well done on that Silent Run. Catalyst is Op as hell once upgraded when you got 30 poison and 2 of them the game is over for the NPC.
I never knew what I was missing with Burst + Catalyst until now. I've only been doing the good ol' Envenom + shivs brute force poison strat and never knew it was this easy to stack up massive amounts of poison damage. I'm such a scrub lmao.
Catalyst is broken. It's almost worth taking with zero poison early in the run

I had a very similar deck today. I do love silly poison.
Won a run last night with pyramid + choke + bullet time! It was fun. Always liked the idea of choke, but never made it work…. And bullet time just seems like a bad card, yet that deck actually made it!

I won today first time on Silent. I had burst and then I cant remember the name it was a 3 energy card which duplicates a a card 2 or 3 time and I just stacked catalyst and then used skill on one of them, probably overkill it was doing 2000+ damage. Literally so good.
4 turn heart kill wouldve required a 5th energy for the apo

Why didn't you card remove in the shop in act 3?
I like how he confidently gets a 36+ cards deck and wins easily whereas if my 22 card deck draws the wrong cards turn 1 I lose to heart.
Two words: card manipulation. It's all about being able to draw and discard to get to the ones you want

Had same run earlier today bought apotheosis and nex elite dropped the bottle then another one dropped the shuriken was a good shiv run went to the final boss but not beaten the heart I'm on ascension 19 finally

In the time eater fight, there was the shape floating in the background. Was that just a coincidence or does that tell you what boss you’re fighting second? I’d never paid much attention to the backgrounds before but looking up screenshots, sometimes there’s nothing floating back there.
I like that Dead Branch frequently breaks the game, and that sometimes it can be a trap due to it actually breaking your deck in the bad way.
why do the bottom right and bottom left daggers die on the turn at 39:49? someone please help explain
On their first turn, daggers attack for 9 and add a wound to your deck. On their second turn, daggers do a 'suicide attack' - they attack for 25 and die.
it just looks like theyre not doing their 25 attack because baalor had intangible

Baalor has said multiple times he wants to colaborate with Northernlion but Northernlion insists in doing a "bald brothers" stream in which baalor shaves his head, since Baalor is not willing to do that it probably won't happen :c

Honestly I hate dead branch. It’s definitely one of the strongest relics in the entire game I just think it makes the game less fun because now your deck building choices don’t matter as much.
I wouldn't say so. To use it, you have to build a deck with exhausting cards, but you also have to not rely on its power. If you use Dead branch and don't build a good deck, it's not that reliable.
It's a game changer but not a 100% win :D
+1, it makes the current deck useless and creates random cards you don't wanna play. If my run is fine, I always skip
@@Adidasstop I generally skip it too if I can't use it well enough or if I have a win condition already set up, yeah. It will make the redraw extremely random. But it already saved my ass even if my deck was fine soooo haha
Unless you have my luck. Then it appears only when no exhaust cards are present.
