This game literally made me cry- I love it- it holds a giant place in my heart, and I will never forget it. It's truly a beautiful game, with an amazing yet simplistic story, the animations, the design, everything is just so.. different. It's amazing, and it deserves all the love in the world.
It's a good game, and a hell of a fun one with friends. My only complain with it is that it feels like untouched potential. Like the first planet is beautifully designed and has a unique atmosphere, but the other planets feel like reskinned versions of each other. The terrain is very similar, and resources are not really unique to the planet, and can often be found on other planets. It makes it so that you only set up a few bases to cover all resource needs, which removes the point of visiting all planets. It would be cool if there were unique resources at every planet, or unique terrain. Another thing they could do is add treasures that makes the character stronger, since what you start with you carry until the end of the game. And for the story each planet is the same, charge some purple alien Apple product and repeat. It would be cooler if there were important pieces of the story on each planet, like some broken machine scattered on each planet, or some back story (like the alien facilities in Subnautica). Anyways good game, but it has more potential. I do however feel the devs care for the game, so I hope they improve it as they have done already.
to me each planet quite unique tho in term of resources. yep they might have same ore in different planets. but there's different gas in each planet's atmosphere isn't it? since you have to use gas to make higher tier resources. so I think it's kind of unique enough for me tho.
I definitely agree. I can gather most of my resources from sylva, and the ones I can't I can trade for. I can obtain all the gasses I need from three planets and thee terrain is similar. Also there's no incentive to explore. Exo caches are marked on your map, same with gateway chambers and, when you have a probe scanner, probes
I have to disagree with "resources aren't unique to the planet." Each planet has different resources, while also having base resources such as Compound and Astronium. And there is unique terrain. The deeper you go, the more difficult it is to dig, and so you have to use a bigger drill mod. Also, they recently added space snails that you can collect that give you certain benefits. Hello! This should assist in a better understanding of the Printer menu in your Backpack. This also may already be answered by now; not sure since I did not scroll comments first, lol The Printer menu is sorted on the right. Underneath the window that shows your Rate of Bytes per minute being processed, The small blue squares show you what printer size you need to use to print the items on the left. This is the list from left to right: 1st blue square: Backpack Printer. 2nd blue square: Small Printer 3rd blue square: Medium Printer 4th blue square: Large Printer The first Printer on the far left, is your Backpack Printer. This means small things (like small batteries, small generators, small wind turbines, tool augments like the Terrain Analyzer for painting, and tethers) can be printed from your Backpack. The square one step to the right from there is the Small Printer. Things such as a Medium Printer can be printed from the Small Printer. Also, Medium platforms, extenders, rover seat and portable field shelter for saving while exploring the planets. Next over to the right once more, is the Medium Printer. Use the Medium Printer to print the Buggy and the Rover, also Medium platforms and medium generators and the Research Chamber, as well as Chemistry Lab and Large Shredder. The last blue button, is for items you print using the Large Printer. So you can find the Largest items on the Largest Printer at the end. Using the Large Printer, you can print things like, Extra Large (XL) platforms, XL wind turbine and solar array, a permanent shelter (like when you start the game), large rovers, and medium and large shuttles, also landing pads for the shuttles. Every item in the left scrolling menu corresponds to which size Printer you have selected from the blue squares on the right. That left scrolling menu has blue, pink, or gray holograms of what the completed printed item may look like. That's my summary of the Printer menus. 😊
my friends found it in alpha, and got me hooked with its multiplayer. however, when 1.0 launched, I was the only one of the group who still played it. So, for two weeks i played around 3-4 hours a day and had a sort of lonely space adventure, which this game excels at, intentional or not. This game is a gem for multiplayer, but those midnight adventures will always be special to me alone. good stuff
I thought I had an original idea but apparently it is already implemented in this game, today I found out about the existence of this game and apparently it has everything I had thought of, such as procedural terrain generation on planets, terrain manipulation etc. I had this idea thanks to the inspiration of no man's sky and minecraft.
When a friend of mine and I got it in the beginning of the year we were sitting there straigt for 10 hours 5 days in a row because we couldn't stop playing it, the hours just flew by and we just kept on exploring and building factorys on every planet.
The music is my favorite. It's peaceful but also changes turns when you're suffocating. The one flaw I see is the new mission thing. I feel that it makes the game easier than it needs to be, but I'm not completely complaining. The game is one of my all time top 5's. I remember seeing it on the xbox store when it was game preview and telling my friend that we should buy it. Never regretted it since.
I absolutely love Astroneer but apparently no one else does because my friends wont even bother to try it. I can only dream of how much fun multiplayer is.
Might I say that the crafting is EXELENTLY simple? Even the most difficult to get material is very easy once you have access to titanium iron and helium I went from only having one of these bad boys to having three in one seccion.
Research catalogue help First tab - backpack icon: Shows items printed with backpack (small items) Second tab - small printer icon: Shows items printed with small printer (medium items) Third tab - medium printer icon: Shows items printed with medium printer (large items) Fourth tab - large printer icon Shows items printed with large printer (XL items) Fun fact: the dots on a printer's icon correspond to printer's number of resource slots
I remember when this had first released in early access. My friend had told me about it and it seemed like such an awesome concept. I then proceeded to forget it’s existence for a few years but I had a friend who had gotten it on ps4. I eventually bought my own ps4 and got the console version of astroneer as soon as I could and I don’t think I have ever had so much fun playing a game with my friends before then.
Back in high school my best friend and I used to play this on the weekends. Time would fly by, drama would not matter, and we would just play for 11 hours straight talking about life and enjoying our little planet with our little base. Recently I just installed the game again, and I cant help but feel lonely. When we finally got to the point where we could go to other planets we built this big ass truck with everything we needed, and we travelled halfway across the planet to lift off, it was a beautiful road trip, and the last thing we ever did in the game. 10/10, thank you for some good weekends Astroneer
12:41 So I’ve got very far in Astroneer, and I have to say that automation is very good if you know how to use it. For example, I put my main base on Glaciologist and make a small storage silo factory. 1. The mining drill mined it 2. a robotic arm put it in another platform with a furnace. 3. Once smelted another arm picks it up and puts it on a platform with a small printer. 4. The printer is set to infinitely create storage silos. 5. Lastly a robotic arm picks the finished storage silo that’s still in a box and puts it on, ironically enough, a large storage silo. I got 2 storage silos filled with storage silos and it’s awesome. An automatic hydrazine farm is really good too but I’m not explaining how I did that because it’s even more complicated. Anyway, like I said, I think automation is very good if you know how to use it.
You have a point and it's not just you - objectives are not a good addition, they remove the curiosity from the game, instead of figuring everything out by myself I now have to follow some stupid instructions just to get a shitty reward and new instructions. I once made myself a buggy - I gathered and refined all the materials as well as collected the bytes to discover how to craft it by myself without paying attention to the quests. 2 minutes after traveling with my buggy I found a weird triangular box, I opened it and I got a new reward from a quest I didn't see - another buggy which made the one I made no longer so special If I saw the quest I wouldn't craft a buggy myself but also if I didn't have a buggy I wouldn't find that box for a long time
Purchased the game on Christmas in 2016, and can say that everything you mentioned is 100000000% accurate. the multiplayer is how you described it; but I would wager that depending on the people you play with, it can be even more chaos. Personally, I had a group of friends who I also played No Man's Sky with on a regular basis who also enjoyed Astroneer. we ended up colonizing all planets (besides the home one) at once, because we built the recourse infrastructure to launch everyone in quick succession. watching me and 4 buds hop into orbit like a snake was hands down my favorite clip I have ever recorded. this game is absolutely amazing, and I honestly started to play it a lot more after seeing this video for the first time. love the videos mate!
When the research menu was first added while I was playing, I found it very confusing and hard to navigate like you do. But once I realized that the 4 different tabs are the 4 crafting tabs. The first tab contains all the items which can be crafted on the player, the second required a small printer. The third needs a medium printer, and the third a large printer. So if I know what I'm looking for even if it's something new I can narrow down where it should be with relative ease.
This game is one of the weirdest I’ve played and I feel emotional whenever it comes to mind, I played it in a time where i felt so lonely and depressed and this game to be completely honest amplified those feelings, the game is great in design and content but what should’ve helped me only made me more anxious, so in conclusion it’s a incredible game but I definitely find it quite lonely and definitely not for everyone
I am so glad he talked about the inventory system. I can't stress enough how awesome it is. Not only that the power system is also very intuitive. If you are someone how is busy and doesn't have a lot of time to understand extremely complicated mechanics and complex menues and ui of games then this is perfect for you. Having lack of time is the main reason I haven't tried games like satisfactory and no man's sky. But I love astroneer. It can be picked up instantly. The game also doesn't tell you much to do anything, you will make your own goals. Which resource to go for next which item to craft next and that makes it even more fun. If you are still confused what to do or how to get started, get a chemistry lab and try to make nanocrabon alloy.
Hey man idk how often you check your comments but it’s nice seeing where you are now from when i first watched your unturned stuff back in 2017 and stuff
Actually got this game about 2 years ago. It used to be so different and it’s so amazing to see how the worlds flourish with life now. It was such a basic game with so little to do at first but has quickly become a game changer.
Just started playing today, got small shuttle and went to desalo and did a sweet jump with ghost division in the background with a tractor before I had to go.. best gaem! :) Played about 5 - 7 hours without even realising
Dude not gonna lie I LOVE the inventory system! Glad you mentioned it, it’s so creative and innovative as well as simply very intuitive, like any child would understand it.
Only if you are determined to learn how to play, if you come in the game with the expectancy to understand everything from the start, no, it takes effort to learn
actually automation works EXTREMELY well in this game you just have to understand how the auto arms work that can take some time but its not hard to build a machine that automatically transforms stored soil into scrap so you can get any resources you like
My friends and I built a ramp to the sky limit on Sylva. It’s surprisingly high we got to above the orbit of the spaceship when it orbits the planet. Pretty sure we were closer to the moon than sylva.
When you talked about going over mountains by just changing the world i immediately thought of how I made a “worlds most dangerous road” and lost my tractor trailers to a ravine bevause the road I made goes down into a ravine I was so sad because the road wasn’t finished and all my power stuff was on those trailers :(
I tried to play this with my friend, but on i think the 4th planet we started getting unbearable lag spikes. We found out that it was because the game saves way too often, every time you get in or out of a vehicle. Despite the numerous bugs we encountered, like simply sliding going faster than the game loads things, it was a good time while it lasted.
3 years later and the game still amazing! I played with a friend in 2021 and we had so much fun. Now I'm trying to convince other friends to play with me
My favorite part of Astroneer is the art and how bubbly things can look, so mainly just exploring the planets and assets. My most hated part of it is the May update, which brought new power items, a compass, and mission log. I hate this because I feel that getting lost or trying to figure out how to create something such as aluminum or aluminum alloy was a big part of what's fun. That sense of not knowing what you're doing, and then the satisfaction of figuring it out. Now that part has been taken out of the game and it becomes boring after a while with everything practically done for you, making you feel like just a worker instead of being in charge.
First binged this one in Beta, and love how the game has progressed. Loved following their dev journey on the System Era UA-cam channel even more. I do wish that the research menu was a little more organized. If you think about how big the item is that you are looking for, you can determine which of the "printer size" tabs you can rule out. But it can still be hard to find things. Also, wish that the new mission objectives would auto complete for those of us that already have all of these things in our bases. Hate having to use resources to complete things that I have already crafted and used over the last few years, especially using the harder to find and interplanetary resources. lol. But Astroneer is still a great game all these years later.
Played for a week straight with a mate and completed the game. Probably my favourite game of all time and there's just so many things to do. When I say I completed the game that means I just finished that big galactic thing in space I forgot the name. There are still quite a few achievements and skins left to unlock.
It always amazes me how the first 4 minutes in these videos manage to be just a bunch of bollocks and advertisements, until i FINALLY get to what i clicked for.
I have been trying to find a channel that makes reviews/analysis of games in a way thats interesnting and actually explains the game and just found this video out of nowhere and it's amazing, Great content! keep it up! You reallly know how to see a game for it's content, beauty and unique ideas, you really see the core of the game and bring the best out of it, making me even more excited to play this games, or repeat them with a different mindset Also wanted to say that the new astroneer update fixed some of what you considered less interesnting in astroneer
been playing it since 2016, and it still manages to make me emotional and excited to keep playing. now, i've invited a couple pals of mine and i'm honestly dying to have some fun w/ them. love astroneer, and i absolutely recommend it (as well as other exploration titles, such as subnautica)
I have 50 hours on astroneer and I agree with everything this guy says. The thing I love about astroneer is that you can change the terrain all you want and make cool structures
Yeah especially considering I don't think there's a height limit. It allows you to build as much as you want and additionally with the new hoverboard you can literally fly across half the planet. This game is good at making it fun to do random crap
I always enjoy getting new joining players to go start on a different planet and start their own bases. When we need gasses for the first time and someone joins they start off on a gasous planet and get a base going. It lets them build a base the way they want and it gets infrastructure in place for when the home planet sends a shuttle by with supplies.
I created an Auto Extractor then headed down to the planet core taking with me power, research chambers, medium and large resource canisters and auto arms. Now the Auto Extractor is mining Astroneum 24/7 and the autoarms are sending those to resource chambers so my research credits will be 95 000+ soon.
What do you mean there is no combat? If you go out into a place with tethers, you can dig holes and if your friend wanders into it, you can just seal his tomb, until he dies of suffocation.
Hey my dude, I’ve been quite enjoying your videos recently, and I have an awesome game that you should try, I BET you will like it! Synthetik. It is a rogue-like shooter. Quite an unpopular one but so deeply developed and it has a lot of great mechanics, tons of weapons, classes, perks, items, name it! I just fell in love with it since I bought it. And it can be played with a friend. I really hope you will see this message :)
The research menu confused me at first, until I realised its separated based on what printer you need to make it. First tab is your backpack printer, next tab is small printer stuff and so on. Other than that I haven't tried automated stuff yet. Ive only just started playing about 5 days ago. Loving it though for some reason. Gives me No Mans Sky vibes but easier to understand. Also I love NMS a crap ton lol
The research system is ranked through printers so the first section is in your backpack. The second is made insmall printer. The third is made in the medium printer and so on.
the new galastropod update is one of the best updates they've given to astroneer imo, it was like the wanderer questline all over again but so much more enjoyable. (also the galastropods just make the game so much easier and that is nothing i'm complaining about since i felt like difficulty was never the aim with this game.)

2nd blue square: Small Printer
3rd blue square: Medium Printer
4th blue square: Large Printer
The first Printer on the far left, is your Backpack Printer.
Every item in the left scrolling menu
corresponds to which size Printer you have selected from the blue squares on the right.
This game is a gem for multiplayer, but those midnight adventures will always be special to me alone. good stuff
Always nice when someone appreciates greatness
Everyone who have made it to mid game knows about this hard to get substance: Nanocarbon alloy

Fun fact: the dots on a printer's icon correspond to printer's number of resource slots
I thought Astroneer was a bit silly at first; but, I'm amazed at how it has stuck with me. I wish I could play more of this game.
1. The mining drill mined it
2. a robotic arm put it in another platform with a furnace.
I love Astroneer, getting all the achievements is just fun enough without any of them being a massive grind or a chore to do
You have a point and it's not just you - objectives are not a good addition, they remove the curiosity from the game, instead of figuring everything out by myself I now have to follow some stupid instructions just to get a shitty reward and new instructions.
I once made myself a buggy - I gathered and refined all the materials as well as collected the bytes to discover how to craft it by myself without paying attention to the quests. 2 minutes after traveling with my buggy I found a weird triangular box, I opened it and I got a new reward from a quest I didn't see - another buggy which made the one I made no longer so special
If I saw the quest I wouldn't craft a buggy myself but also if I didn't have a buggy I wouldn't find that box for a long time
Purchased the game on Christmas in 2016, and can say that everything you mentioned is 100000000% accurate. the multiplayer is how you described it; but I would wager that depending on the people you play with, it can be even more chaos.
Its because best played with a partner
I absolutely love this game, Ive had it since Alpha and its been amazing ever since
I am so glad he talked about the inventory system.
Astroneer is the most relaxing game EVER
Until you get your rover stuck in a ravine
@@savary5050 lol epic 🤣 I guess the VTOL is going to be helpful in that regard
@@KuyaGameAstroneer Yes
It´s the guy!!
@@virtualcomet6808 lol hi there!
Finally, a game where the Terrain editing isn't broken and messy.
Hey man idk how often you check your comments but it’s nice seeing where you are now from when i first watched your unturned stuff back in 2017 and stuff
Tbh the build unlock menu is what I stay on for a while just because of the sound it has
Actually got this game about 2 years ago. It used to be so different and it’s so amazing to see how the worlds flourish with life now. It was such a basic game with so little to do at first but has quickly become a game changer.
One of my top 5 favorite games of all time. ps. i'm old
Just started playing today, got small shuttle and went to desalo and did a sweet jump with ghost division in the background with a tractor before I had to go.. best gaem! :)
Played about 5 - 7 hours without even realising
Dude not gonna lie I LOVE the inventory system! Glad you mentioned it, it’s so creative and innovative as well as simply very intuitive, like any child would understand it.
Is it fun without friends? I don't have any
Only if you are determined to learn how to play, if you come in the game with the expectancy to understand everything from the start, no, it takes effort to learn
I've been playing astroneer for almost a year now and some details I've never actually noticed, but it just increases my positive outlook on the game.
actually automation works EXTREMELY well in this game
you just have to understand how the auto arms work
that can take some time
but its not hard to build a machine that automatically transforms stored soil into scrap so you can get any resources you like
My friends and I built a ramp to the sky limit on Sylva. It’s surprisingly high we got to above the orbit of the spaceship when it orbits the planet. Pretty sure we were closer to the moon than sylva.
When you talked about going over mountains by just changing the world i immediately thought of how I made a “worlds most dangerous road” and lost my tractor trailers to a ravine bevause the road I made goes down into a ravine I was so sad because the road wasn’t finished and all my power stuff was on those trailers :(
So glad this is coming to Switch. Can't wait.
Actual video starts at 3:41
Community is awesome as well, it is the best I have ever seen
Busted! I'm telling everyone you think they're awesome 😎
@@Ginapedia OH NO
SHE FOUND ME SCATTER
At 5:31 the mini rtg was MY idea. They took that suggestion and added it to the game
I tried to play this with my friend, but on i think the 4th planet we started getting unbearable lag spikes. We found out that it was because the game saves way too often, every time you get in or out of a vehicle. Despite the numerous bugs we encountered, like simply sliding going faster than the game loads things, it was a good time while it lasted.
the first tab in the research menu is stuff you can craft with your backpack printer, seccond tab small printer, third tab meduim, fourth tab large
Awesome video! I love seeing Astroneer get more attention all the time, easily in my top games list
3 years later and the game still amazing! I played with a friend in 2021 and we had so much fun. Now I'm trying to convince other friends to play with me
Finally someone talks about astroneer its a great game would recommend
I didn't know one of the devs had died, he will be remembered through the game he helped craft RIP
When I hear people say “this game holds a special place in my hearts” I’m like bro… it’s just a game
YOU DID IT! ❤️
Despite helping in the moment, the compass kinda destroys the idea of exploration
By far and away and without a shadow of a doubt. One of the best Indie games ever created.
This guy really said “automation feels like more of a chore than a benefit” say hello to my friends auto scrap machine and rtg mass production
I agree the research menu is really convoluted. I still have to look through each tab multiple times to find the item I need.
I liked the adjectives they put in because you just do what you normally would do in the game and you get rewards to progress faster and smoother
My only problem with the game is I have no people to play it with cause they underestimate how beautiful and fun it is
Sameee
you should cover some more indie/obscure games like intruder or table top sim
the music is relaxing, the gameplay, even after 3 saves, is fun
I have been trying to find a channel that makes reviews/analysis of games in a way thats interesnting and actually explains the game and just found this video out of nowhere and it's amazing, Great content! keep it up!
You reallly know how to see a game for it's content, beauty and unique ideas, you really see the core of the game and bring the best out of it, making me even more excited to play this games, or repeat them with a different mindset
Also wanted to say that the new astroneer update fixed some of what you considered less interesnting in astroneer
You know this man is a real G when hes rocking the Retro suit.
been playing it since 2016, and it still manages to make me emotional and excited to keep playing. now, i've invited a couple pals of mine and i'm honestly dying to have some fun w/ them. love astroneer, and i absolutely recommend it (as well as other exploration titles, such as subnautica)
This presentation of PROS and CONTS is one of the best I have ever seen for a GAME.
Great job dude ;)
Keep doing such great vidz ;)
Never thought. Of that but it's a brilliant idea
The train update just came out, the research catalog is at least now organized in a strange way.
5:34 There is a health bar, it just regenerates very fast. Also oxygen is a main part of this game that you have to worry about.
Jumping from a youtuber like treyllo, I can understand why robo has 30 times the subs. Love you robo, keep doing what your doing.
Not even two minutes in and I already subscribed, seriously this guy is the real deal.
What do you mean there is no combat? If you go out into a place with tethers, you can dig holes and if your friend wanders into it, you can just seal his tomb, until he dies of suffocation.
My favourite gaming channel. No toxic masculinity, just intelligent reviews. Love it! Hope you get to 1M.
Curious, what is an example of toxic masculinity in a game review? Genuinely want to know.
Why is no one talking about the sound track? Really adds to the game.
Played it over 4 times and still each time its an awesome experience. They have trains now
The research menu confused me at first, until I realised its separated based on what printer you need to make it.
Ah, perfect. I was looking for a reason to get back into Astroneer!
Bro same just the perfect reminder to stop playing Minecraft and get into some other game
The research system is ranked through printers so the first section is in your backpack. The second is made insmall printer. The third is made in the medium printer and so on.
We need more planets bro
Ye
the new galastropod update is one of the best updates they've given to astroneer imo, it was like the wanderer questline all over again but so much more enjoyable. (also the galastropods just make the game so much easier and that is nothing i'm complaining about since i felt like difficulty was never the aim with this game.)
I saw this game was on special on steam, and I was intrigued but wasn't sure if I'd love it. After watching the first few minutes of your video I was sold. I can't wait to play. Great video.
Astroneer, Valheim, Factorio
Like the only games i bought full price
