@@Real.384 yea Ive seen its more of an RPG style game. The story still seems good but at least the judgement games still have the brawler style gameplay I suppose
I think it's the perfect end, but also the perfect battle to be followed up by Tanimura, who's fight and music parallel this song. With Daigo's, it's one-on-one against a strong, honorable man who doesn't know what to do if it means he loses face anyway. And to back that up, the song is climactic and lost in its composition. Then For Faith hits. A battle against an asshole who only uses others, and is weaker than a bag of sticks, so much so he acts like a pussy the whole fight. And the one he faces is Kamurocho Grey Zone Jackass, the most resolute person out of anyone, and who would preservere through a thousand men out of pure will to fight. Backing that up is a strong but mediated piece that ends relatively early but keeps banging on, not changing, but always varying.
Wow, Yakuza's western advertising didn't help it at all. You don't "Thrive in Tokyo's Adult Underworld", nor is Kamurocho ever referred to as the "Sin City District". It doesn't make it sound like a Japanese crime drama, it makes it sound like a Japanese GTA.
For a long time that’s how it was marketed in the west-as a Japanese GTA. The original dub is filled with swearing and “street talk” to try and emulate that feeling. It wasn’t until fairly recently that Yakuza found its own footing away from the “Japanese GTA”
Say what you want about localisation but the Yakuza 1 Dub was comedy fucking gold. Hell even the devs know about it because they got Kiryu's VA from it to do his voice in the LaD English dub.
Glad that this is basically Daigo's Theme, especially this theme is used in The Colliseum tho when you Fight against Him, that's Official right there for The Sixth Chairman Himself 😌
to think about everything daigo went through in yakuza 3, it's really no surprise he messed up so badly in yakuza 4. dude got shot, put in a coma, and he wakes up from that coma to see mine die, and then he has to learn that kashiwagi is dead, kanda is dead, hamazaki is probably dead, and majima is on the verge of leaving the clan again. and kiryu just says "okay bye" and goes back to the orphanage. the clan is the only thing daigo has and mine understood that, he did everything to protect the clan for daigo's return. and I think some part of daigo wanted to do everything in his power to keep the tojo alive for mine's sake, so his death wouldn't be for nothing. but daigo inherited the clan at its absolute worst, rock bottom, too many mouths to feed and not enough money to keep it alive. he was desperate and he couldn't just throw it away like kiryu did.
"I'm not mad, just disappointed" the theme.
That's even worse than being mad. Especially if it's from the guy you looked up to and call him your literall hero.
