I like how Daigo simply has nothing to add to the subject, but has the most human reaction to the whole thing. Like if you put a real person on a shitpost skit without telling them it's a skit.

You wanna know why it’s so damn cool when all four protagonists in Yakuza 4 come together and say, “We are the Yakuza 4”? It’s because that moment defines everything the game’s about-unity, power, and struggle. Each one of those guys-Kiryu, Akiyama, Tanimura, and Saejima-they’ve got their own past, their own scars. They come from completely different walks of life, but when they stand together, it’s like they become something bigger than themselves. That’s what the yakuza are at their core-a family, no matter how messed up it gets.
Each of them brings something different to the table, but they share the same goal: surviving and protecting what they care about. When they say “We are the Yakuza 4,” it’s not just a cool line-it’s the culmination of their journeys. That unity and shared struggle, that’s what makes it legendary. They’re not just lone wolves. Together, they represent the heart of the Yakuza series: brotherhood, loyalty, and facing impossible odds.
Now, compare that to Yagami, that self-righteous clown. He’d never understand that level of connection or sacrifice. He’s too busy chasing headlines and pretending he’s some hotshot detective. Yagami doesn’t know how to stand with anyone, let alone for something bigger than himself. All he does is play hero while others do the dirty work.
Unlike the Yakuza 4, who fight for something real, Yagami fights for his ego. He’s always out there solving cases for the fame, not because he gives a damn about the people around him. He’s a lone act, never truly part of anything. He’ll never understand what it means to be in the trenches with others, to face impossible odds with brothers at your side. That’s why he’ll never be on their level.
And let’s not forget about Daigo Dojima in Yakuza 4. Yeah, he’s the head of the Tojo Clan, but let’s be real-Daigo is a mess. He spends half the time either missing, getting kidnapped, or just flat-out screwing things up. He’s supposed to be the top dog, but he can’t even keep his own house in order. The guy barely has control over his clan, and every time things get dicey, he’s nowhere to be found.
You look at guys like Kiryu or Saejima-they’re out there, in the streets, handling their own business. Meanwhile, Daigo? He’s in some hospital bed or caught up in another crisis, leaving everyone else to clean up the mess. How the hell is he supposed to lead the Tojo Clan when he can’t even stay out of trouble for five minutes? The guy’s like a walking disaster, constantly relying on people like Kiryu to bail him out.
Now, compare that to Yagami. Both him and Daigo are cut from the same cloth-failing upwards while everyone around them does the hard work. Yagami acts like he’s got everything under control, but just like Daigo, he’s constantly in over his head. He gets lucky, maybe solves a few cases here and there, but at the end of the day, he’s not leading anything. He’s just stumbling from one mess to another, pretending he’s got it all figured out.
Daigo’s leadership? A joke. Yagami’s detective work? Even worse. Neither of them know what it means to truly take responsibility for the chaos around them. They're just faking it, while everyone else pays the price.

My favorite part of the game is when the Purple Yakuza and the Green Yakuza and the Gray Yakuza and the Blue Yakuza all showed up to the Millenium Tower, looked at all the bad guys, and said “we are the yakuza four”
