RFT 155363 - OConnell St Public Art - public Art Intervention Proposal for O’Connell Street Limerick
Myself and my good friend and renowned artist John O'Connor entered this large scale bronze sculpture for the above competition in Limerick last year (2019). It was to demarcate the changes in the streets uses and be an iconic symbol for the city. it was loosely based on a celtic torc but given a modern take in its form.
We were delighted to be shortlisted to the finals this year, but sadly didn't win the competition, the winner hasn't as yet been revealed. We would like to sincerely thank the following who gave their time and expertise in the endeavour, we had a lot of fun and you were amazing.........
