Joe: Hi. My name is Joe with Camco Manufacturing. Today I would like to talk to you about the Gen-turi Generator Exhaust System. As an Rv-er, you will rely on your generator when there is no power hookup available, but along with the convenience comes undesirable noise and exhaust fumes. Running your Rvs generator produces harmful and potentially deadly carbon monoxide. During Rv rallies and times when there is a large concentration of Rvs, what we call dry camping, exhaust can become on even greater problem, concentrated carbon monoxide can spread up to 15' from the exhaust pipe.
Gen-turi improves the quality of the air, in and around your RV, by venting carbon monoxide above your Rv's roof line. It's critical that, when running a generator in these circumstances, you use a generator exhaust system, not only for your own health and your safety, but your neighbors as well. By using a Gen-turi, you can reduce noise and vent the fumes above the roof line, keeping the air healthy and protecting your family and your neighbors from harmful, ground level carbon monoxide. The Gen-turi stainless steel pipe directs hot generator exhaust into the vertical discharge tube. As the high velocity exhaust enters the discharge tube, our specially engineered Gen-turi design draws cool air up into the tube and mixes it with hot exhaust. The resulting warm air exhaust mixture is lighter than the surrounding air, causing the mixture to rise up the tube.
As the rising air mixture leaves the tube, it creates a vacuum, drawing more cool air in and up the tube, with the exhaust. Gen-turi is easy to install and disconnects quickly. It has no moving parts and requires no power hookup. We will be going over basic installation. You will need to read and follow all warnings and instructions in the booklet that is included with the Gen-turi. The Gen-turi system is designed only for use while the RV is stationary. We also recommend that carbon monoxide warning devices be used in your RV.
The Camco Gen-turi Air Cooled Generator Exhaust System is designed for use on most exhaust systems. Adapters are included, which accommodate most installations. Before installation, make sure you exhaust system is in good condition, with no holes or leaks. Visually inspect the side of your RV in the are above where the exhaust pipe extends for any obstructions. If there is anything in the way of the Gen-turi will be mounted, you will need to re-route the exhaust.
Instructions for re-routing are included with the Gen-turi. In this step, the Gen-turi mounting adapter with the cross hole will be permanently attached and positioned for future mounting the Gen-turi section. Measure the outside diameter of the exhaust pipe. Determine which adapters you will need to install. Slide slotted end of mounting adapter over exhaust pipe, allowing 2" of exhaust pipe to slide inside adapter. It is easiest to mark exhaust pipe to verify the 2" insertion. Next, you will install the bushings and the mounting adapter. For best results, install the bushings one at a time. Start with the smallest and work up to the largest. All bushings and mounting adapters go in slotted end first. Be sure to offset the slots to provide a good exhaust seal. Tap bushing or mounting adapter onto exhaust pipe if necessary. Never strike bushing or adapter directly. Use a wooden or plastic block to prevent damaging the diameter or surface of the bushing. Turn mounting adapter to locate holes vertically. Position exhaust calmp over slots on slotted end of mounting adapter and tighten. Mount elbow and lower section of tube into mounting adapter using included lock pin. Be sure that the assembly is snug to prevent exhaust gas leaks during operation. Slide upper and middle tube sections together. Slide these sections onto lower section mounted on RV. After the Gen-turi assembly is put together, locate positions for I-straps by pulling the free end of Gen-turi bungee toward side of RV. I straps should be far enough apart to apply tension on Gen-turi tubing from left and right and high enough to relieve pressure on generator exhaust pipe. The I-strap can be installed by either using double sided tape or rivets. Today, we will be using double sided tape. Mark I-strap locations. Clean and dry application area. Remove backing and apply first I-strap. Check vertical alignment of Gen-turi, then apply second I-strap. Allow adhesive to cure for 24 hours before attaching Gen-turi. Connect Gen-turi bungee to I-straps on RV. Start generator. Check for prop
