It's the fact that I have the game but I'm too scared to play it alone 😭😭 tbh this was probably the best play I've seen in a while not rushing and actually understanding the game
This game is so haunting. The general lack of music and minimalist hud make it very immersive. And the end bit with Sahara's lab was a big WTF moment, especially realizing the cyclical nature of the plane crash. One of my favorite games of all time
Don't listen to what the game says about "recommended mode", it was meant to be played on Hard survival. Normal and Hard modes lack some very interesting mechanics like calorie management, weight, athleticism and strength management. This is what happens when the game is rushed and the publisher tell developers what the players "really need". Formerly, The Forest had even more complicated system with under-eating, over-eating, over-working effects, also stews and meat vs. junk food effects. It got trimmed not once, but twice: first they removed everything related to junk vs. healthy food, making soda and candies a perfectly fine diet, and effectively killing the purpose of stews. Then they locked weight and athleticism management exclusively to Hard Survival, effectively scaring people from even noticing these gameplay mechanics. In fact, I would not be surprised that most of the players don't even know its there. Yeah I know the game kinda contradicts itself: it implies you need to find your son quickly, and it is perfectly fine if you don't care about eating properly. And you can do it, you can beat the game within a couple of hours, without building all that stuff from your survival book. But at the same time the game has so much more for you to explore. You can build amazing structures, fight cannibals with traps and crafty tactics, build up your strength and athleticism to the point you don't even need a climbing axe to pass the obstacles in caves, set a net of fast-travel lines, do some cannibal behavior study, and even chill with your friends, all the fun stuff!
The game actually helps you with finding new crafting recipes. Put something on the crafting spot in the middle of your inventory and hold your cursor over the gear wheel next to it. A list of items will appear. The items on this list can be combined with the item on the crafting spot.

Plz my friend and I were idiots and walked into the game not knowing A THING and the first thing we did was go “oooooh cave with three drops let’s explore” and somehow managed to kill the original cannibals but then came across the spider one and Oh boy DIDNT end well at all
Love the long commentary free playthrough but if the majority is spelunking then it's hard to watch as it's too dark to see anything. That being said, I'm still 'watching' LOL. Just subscribed and look forward to watching your other videos even though I'm console player. This game is more my husband's style. I'm an Uncharted, AC, Far Cry, Tsushima, Wildlands kinda girl but I thoroughly enjoy watching others play this type. Thanks much

Love how no one bothered to put their tray tables in the upright and locked position while all that was happening, and the airbags didn’t drop either…that plane sucked 😑

@@MichaelJGetsTheJobDone ,Yeah man I can imagine how terrible it is to play on the highest difficult,those cannibals motherf****rs are tough as hell,I guess this is on porpose so you can find someone to play with you and enjoy the multiplayer as much as the singleplayer.
There was an achievement for doing so if I remember correctly. And I tried to unlock as many of those as possible during this playthrough. So, yes, I probably did! XD
I wish they would fix the stupid "Moon" meter in this game, it's what made me give up on it, repeatedly finding myself stuck in the night part of the day night cycle, stumbling around in pitch black unable to do anything because the Fatigue meter is full and the character refusing to go to sleep as if he has insomnia. I know the game is meant to be harsh and demanding but this crap makes it literally unplayable for me.

Yeah, there're multiple things wrong with this playthrough. This was one of my earlier videos when I just recorded me playing games. Since then, I learned how to properly record videos. I actually recorded a new playthrough of The Forest just a couple of days ago.
