I lived in Sunnyvale for 53 years , my father came here at a young age, my grandparents lived here for 70 years , this town always have been a real safe , patriotic , a real friendly community , this all changed starting in 2004 , slowly liberal take over has been under way in this city , it has turned into a left wing nanny state city, with the cities community officer that tell you how to keep your yard and tell you what you can do to your house , how many vehicles you can have on the street anywhere , rents are ridicules , gun ownership is looked down and Sunnyvale has passed local laws restricting further gun ownership legal gun ownership , as of 2016 these are facts, the police department is severely under staffed, the fire department the same , city counsel and manger just care about the dollar how to save it , the fire and police combined jobs makes it hard to fill positions , the rest of the country these jobs are separate but not in Sunnyvale , the city will not change because its cheaper to do it this way , the city is exploding with population because of local jobs and the city only cares about collecting money and all services are less then secondary , I talk to police and fire I know what goes on in the trenches , Sunnyvale has always been good sweeping there dirty laundry under the carpet , the city HATES bad publicity at all costs , the schools are OK at best except for cherry chase area , they do have there gang problems , the city with there community offices (code enforcement) will look at every hose and force you by bulling you , they call it warning you they have codes for everything , they will go in your back yards without your permission look in your windows , people privacy in this city is a myth I experience this live this, and have had no problems with the law , lastly the type of people that live here are complainers , snitches, busy bodies that will call the city on you for anything not everyone but 80% I own 4 business here my family has had selling them all and moving cannot stand it here anymore , there is no place for a christian conservative here anymore , I will miss the weather good bye Sunnyvale glad to be gone and you who plan to move here good luck you will pay dearly for living here.

"the police department is severely under staffed, the fire department the same"
If you lived there for 53 years you'd know they're the same people.

Well, I for one am glad you left. Anyone who starts a post by using the words 'liberal', and 'left-wing' and then follows up with a ten-page essay that lists everything that is wrong with the city clearly thinks WAY too much about politics. Personally, I think it's just too expensive. Every other reason you gave was absolutely irrelevant to me. Good luck in your new location, but please leave your political views elsewhere.

VHS material. So many good memories - Police Academy, Married with Children, and many, many more. 😀
It's sad that the big tech has become so evil.

I think Al Gore visited Lakewood park (in Sunnyvale Lakewood Village area) when he ran in 2000. I did not know both Bill Clinton and Al Gore visited in 1993.
