Using Civil 3D 23 and I've watched about 20 videos trying to explain this, especially the most recent ones and this is the only one which succeeded either way for using mtext with fields and using attributes with fields, and not only that it works both ways (in testing). Great stuff, thank you.
Pretty good demo. I noticed CAD and ENG didn't update. You where using Sheet Custom Fields for them. I feel it's still better to combine an Xref of repetitive Titleblock information (lines, keyplans, logos, notes etc) with some locally needed Sheetset Fields. It would be better yet if Autodesk would figure out a way to enable fields in an Xref to update/repopulate.
Great effort sir! Please tell me do I have to create a separate sheet set for every single project? I tried for other than multi-sheet project but it is not working.

Man you are my hero 🙌 you explain it soooooo well bro 👏👌👍
Great video! Regarding the hashtags at 2:27, is there a way that they do not appear after setting up the field? I want to set up other fields ready for when we change to revision B but I do not want to see "####" all over the page when we submit revision A. So far when I go back into the DWT and add fields for the revision B, it does not populate for the existing files in the sheet set manager. It was input exactly the same and I regen the drawing. It does appear when I create a new sheet.
what kind of attribute is used for per sheet number? It cant use custom sheet properties because once the sheet number is changes its updated automatically; sheet number needs some other field's variable.
Hello, great video. I have an existing block with attributes. When I open the dwg to update the attributes I can't figure out how to add fields to the existing attribute definition. Seems I have to rebuild the whole thing.. Any ideas?
Hi! This is really helpful, however after I add my custom sheet set properties and then type REA I’m finding that nothing is updating. I still either have ### in the place where I want the information. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
A few things to try would be to make sure your drawing was saved once, sometimes saving and reopening works. If it has been blocked in twice can cause this issue exploding can help tell if that is true be ready to undo though encase that is not the case. Also the custom fields are case sensitive
How would you add the Current Sheet Title to the title block using Sheet Sets & Fields? I cannot get the "CurrentSheetTitle" Field to work correctly, or any of the "CurrentSheet" fields to work for that matter... Any hep is appreciated!
about sheet number and total number of sheets, what if i want to put the sheet number & total number of sheets of drawings for each division of drawings(i.e. ARCHITECTURAL, STRUCTURAL, etc) and then also i want to do the same in in combination of the divisions. what fields do i need to use?
You said "total sheets will not update..." ? That was one of few reasons I revied similar training videos for last 12 hours. I still don't understand the purpose of sheet sets. I thought DWGPROP is just a tool for adding custom fields. How hard for Autodesk was just create a field for sheet count???
I am working in AutoCAD 2020 and I am struggling to insert the created title block into layer space. Any advice? It asks for me to specify my insertion point which I do then the edit attributes window pops up at which point I click ok but then the sheet is blank and the title block has not been inserted. Thanks for any advice
You have to create a template (.dwt) with the page setups in them, you can also then use that template to create a sheet set template to for sheet sets. This way all drawings serupnusing sheet set manager will have all your settings as well
Good question think you’d have to use an expression to achieve this under sheet set custom. Will create a how to a bit later in the week will need to create some test content to show you how to as I don’t usually do it this way.
Setting it up takes time, but when you have to print 100 page plan set, and make a change to the date on every page this does it with only a few clicks. Instead of having to open 100 separate or at best maybe 15 CAD files (with multiple layouts) or mess with the creating a xref titleblock. Only easier step would be to create 100 layouts in layout space, make the titleblock a block, and edit the block. Don’t know if my personal sanity would go well with 100 layouts spaces. You only have to do it once, and save it into your template or create one.
@@AIMCAD Thanks. I copy plotsheets from one project (A) to another (B). Including the DST file. Is there an easy way of keeping the file names but linking it to the new project without having to relink every sheet individually?
@@AIMCAD or type softer. You can also ( depending on post video software) creat a filter for the keyboard sounds and use it to filter out the keystrokes. 😀
I'm sure the tutorial would be good if you slowed down and didn't beat the crap out of your keyboard while you're typing. I was listening with headphones and had to take them off because you were typing so hard.
Please be mindful of your presentation. Some people would get the impression you're high because you're pounding the keyboard quickly and loudly, and doing things a little too fast.
I've watched several videos trying to get a better understanding of sheet sets. This is, by far, the best instructional video on it that I've found.

the best video i have seen on how to created these shet sets lol great work.
Thank you very much for this great tutorial!
It covers all I needed to know to understand sheet parameters.
Have a big Thumb Up from me!
Glad I stumbled into this video, really good.

Great video. Just what I was looking for. Thanks for posting!
You explained it very well. kudos! 👍
Comprehensive but simple. Thanks mate
explanation and the way of teaching niceee

Great explanation. Thanks.
Finally something I can understand (y)
its very good demo keep going and realy thanx
Great, thanks. How to sync the Sheet sets to a Page Index?

Can this work with xreffing the title block in as a separate drawing?

Yes this is possible, will make a video and link it here probably this weekend
@@AIMCAD thank you very much
is there an option where i can only use one dwg file for all sheets instead of having multiple dwg everytime i add new sheet?
Marvel Culture yes you can but you’ll have to manage your layers using viewports.

Decent tutorial bro, glad I’m not the one having to buy you keyboards that you beat the crap out of. Lol. Sorry but it’s annoying.
Lol, that’s why I have to do these videos to afford keyboards. I should redo this video my new mechanical keyboard is much easier on the ears.

Yeah mechanical keyboard is loud in this one, will be posting a new video for 2020 soon hopefully you find it better than the last
