I wish you all Fair Winds and Following Seas from an old retired Mustang. I made 12 deployments during my career as an enlisted Sailor and as a Naval Officer. It was always with great pride when we Manned the Rails as a long Navy tradition showing pride in your ship and paying respect to those you leave behind and when you return. All hands Man the Rail unless on watch or working getting the ship underway or arrival in port.
You will have at least six months of working 18 hour days and standing watch, fighting fires, and standing in line for chow for 45 minutes allowing you 15 minutes to eat. You will have days where you hate it and others where you are so proud to be where you are at that moment. You will hopefully have some great port visits although there are not as many as there used to be. Take advantage of the cultures and remember you are an Ambassador for the United States. During these long days of working seven days a week, you will develop the most incredible relationships you never thought possible. I still am in contact and visit Shipmates from 43 years ago.
Just remember that the entire country is proud of your sacrifices you will make, and are much safer with you keeping the sea lanes free for the world.
I salute you all. God Bless America!

We are proud of you guys .... we the people
Seeing this aircraft carrier makes me reminisce of the time I was on the USS RANGER in Nineteen Sixty Nine. I was twenty two then. I have mixed feelings about the Viet Nam war because we lost too many young men. Thank the LORD I made it home.
Made last two rides AO3 VF1 89-93
My father served in the Franklin D. Roosevelt, CV42, In ww2. It was supposed to be named the Midway, but it's name was changed after F.D.R died. He had to get permission from my grandparents to join because he was only 17. They had just passed through the Panama Canal when word came that the Japanese had surrendered. He spent 4 years in the navy, then switched to the army, where he served until 1968. He was a veteran of both the Korean war and Vietnam. But also had the ribbon for WW2. I asked him what sailing on the ocean was like, but he said he never saw the ocean, because he worked in the engine room, and slept below the waterline, lol. He told me to join the army in 1970 because the officers weren't jerks. I went in right out of high school in 1970. I never lived in one place more than 3 years. I took a tour of that carrier when it visited Okinawa, where pop was stationed when I was in second grade. I thought it was the biggest ship in the world. He showed me his old bank space and I didn't know how he could stand it. What a ship.
Good luck to all my shipmates, fair winds and following seas. Kick some ass out there!!
Safe travels, fair winds and following seas from a Nana
Fair winds and following seas gentlemen
In times like these that we are in and the situation in the world as it is, every time I see one of our proud Navy ships heading out to sea I'm reminded of the line from the movie In Harm's Way, "Another fine ship Going In Harm's Way." Fairwinds and following Seas crew of The George Bush come back home whole and safe. God bless.
My home be safe praying for everyone🙏💗
in the future when humans are at war with aliens they will look back at these times and say that is so fucked up
No weapon formed against you shall prosper
Fair Winds and Follwing Seas!🤗

May the great creator watch over you and keep you safe.
Hooray for the crew of the
CV-77 George Bush. Whatta beauty.
Carry on!
amen!!!
It is about time!
I've always wondered why the traditions of having all the crew manning the sides of the ship when entering or leaving the harbor.
Is it to provide some sort of visual security against oncoming ships/boats?
Manning the rail is a method of saluting (or rendering honors) used by naval vessels. The custom evolved from that of "manning the yards", which dates from the days of sail. On sailing ships, crew stood evenly spaced on all the yards (the spars holding the sails) and gave three cheers to honor distinguished persons. Today, the crew are stationed along the rails and superstructure of a ship when honors are rendered. Credit: Wikipedia
@@TheBearDenPhotography Thanks for the info~
The only time we ever manned the rail was when we entered and departed Pearl Harbor and passed the USS Arizona.
@@TheBearDenPhotography it would also be used to signal to other “days of sail” warships flying another country’s flag when passing that they were friendlies (not at their battle stations)
"man" I miss going over seas ( retired USN)
Yeah. That'll work.
All the best from England, just wondering is the food good on board, the catering amazes me, all those guys to feed.
The food abaord CVN 76 is ight at best sometimes cold sometimes undercooked but the shepherds pie is the best dish they serve at times
