    You did a fine job Andy, looks great. Racing Fords to me are always blue, all the Shelby's, cobras etc. Again, that's my impression. Ferrari is red. So when I build mine it will be blue. That's the beauty of plastic modelling, we can build our own dreams.

      @yetsunfang 5 років тому +1

      yeah, it's the international auto racing color. Italy is red, USA is blue with white stripes en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_auto_racing_colours

      kalbs89, if you sand ALL the paint off, you can do a decent job on a metal body model. I've done it on a 1/24 Mercedes rally car because to me, most rally cars tend to be white. It came out nicely.

      I am the same. Ford racing means blue and white stripes. I will be going with those colors. But it is your model and feel free to do any color you want.

I had problems with glue on windshields on my earlier builds and didn’t know about the car wax trick, thanks for sharing that. I use clear glue for clear parts now and have not had problems since. Great video as always. But honestly the doors make this model look a bit like a toy, they should have had a little gap there. But you could create that effect also by a sharp knife and Tamiya panel liner.

  • @johnschultz2908
    @johnschultz2908 3 роки тому

    Use Meguiars plastic polish. Amazing stuff. Most auto stores will have it in their detailing department. How about a fine wash in the panel lines. Based on your armor, you should be pretty good at it. I use a true watercolor prior to the clear since it is so forgiving. Add a very small drop of dish soap to the water and it should go down nice and smooth. Sorry, this is an outstanding build Andy!

    this kit looks amazing… i guess, it would be awesome with the Tamiya blue in the spray can on your bench, too..!

    Try putting your decals in water backing side up...it keeps the curl from happening. I put them in water for 20 sec or so then pull them out and let them sit on my mat face up. It keeps the backing rigid so it's easier to slide. I use warm water and swap it out half way through. Also add a drop or 2 of decal solution in the water to break the terger pressure.
    Tamiya Racing Blue was made for this kit. Along with metallic red.

    andy … nice paint-job … took note of the 'layering' effect you applied … the end result proved awesome. and the color you chose was, in my view, spot on.
    reading a couple of the other comments … it's true, having gaps in body panels would make it look more authentic. s'been 50+ years since i sat down to glue a kit together … maybe it's time i picked up a kit. also, keeping those mirrors detachable was a nice tip.
    btw, andy … loved that tchaikovsky in the background.

    Great job, nice clean build. Splash paints are base coats and require gloss coats. Base coats are easier to paint as you are not trying to obtain a gloss with the base coat, only a good a solid base for the gloss top coats, which can be sanded out, like Andy did. Maybe if you build another one of these, you might consider spraying the stripes.

    Good video on this new kit.
    I ‘ll like to say that for model car kit building, the car body is best to be sprayed with aerosol spray paints like Tamiya spray cans.
    The thickness of the spray can paint work always appeared ‘true scaled’ against the real car. Whereas, air brush painting suits military models building as the objects are not refine products as compared to flashy automobile. In fact , I do air brush only on my presentation drawings.
    Spray can painting whether is gloss or clear coat on metallic colour on a well prepare ,cleaned, and sun warmed up body will give you a high gloss and stabilised looks without any polishing.
    You can sun bake the model car body under the sun in a clear booth but with proper ventilation for half a day to achieve a more sharp and permanent look. The model will appear closer to a metal automobile rather than a plastic object. Never spray a car model body on a rainy day !
    To achieve variation in colour finishes from standard spray cans, you can venture into using light metallic colour coat on different undercoat colour to alter the finished look. It is fun to see your own version of colour scheme for car model building. After all, the car industries are now producing cars of exciting colours.
    As for this Ford GT kit, it is really well made except short on engine compartment details. On those meshed air intakes areas, I think using nylon mesh netting as substitutes is better and relevant.
    Have fun!

    Very clean build! The kit looks a lot nicer than the Revell race version, I hope Tamiya make a racing version of this. It would be great if Tamiya started making their cars with weighted and bulged tires though, as an aircraft builder this omission really stands out to me, but I rarely hear car modellers mention it.

    I’m actually doing this kit right now. Super nice super good quality. I love the tamiya kits I feel like I don’t ever want to buy another revell or Amt again. And the mpc and the monogram ones are always straight garbage. I love this ford kit but it was definitely a pain in the ass getting a few things where they need to be. Very very tedious on some of this stuff. Yours came out really nice though man. Props.

    Thanks for the great build review Andy. What did you end up using for the interior red accent color ? I didn't catch you identify that so my bad if I missed it. Also, the exterior color looks great. Did you have any issues getting color or clear sanding the rear body forward of the engine glass. I'll call them sailplanes, but they look to be tucked up out of easy access. Would you recommend painting body parts before assembly in this area ? I think I've seen that recommended in other reviews of this kit but would appreciate your thoughts. Again, thanks for the build.

    Andy, since there has been lots of online discussion on how TS-13 Gloss could damage the decal ( even the Tamiya labels the warning on the spray can), I was wondering if you have any issue at all. There has also been remedy by doing layers of mist coats and to avoid wet coating. What's your take on that?
