Hi @kennethdodemaide8678 ... I am finding that out with each reaction I do of John's music. I plan on doing more in the future. Take care and rock 'n' roll ...
This is just fantastic ❤ I also have seen and heard several different versions and I am an Aussie but John really outperformed any others. John is the G.O.A.T. Thank you for the reaction and positive comments. ☺️
Hi @Deblaw60 ... The song requires a performer who puts themselve in Jesus's place during these last days of his life; feeling the emotion and questioning his life to this point. John did that with his wonderful interpretation. Thank you for your complimentary comment. It is much appreciated. Peace from Wisconsin ...
To me this is the greatest cover and performance of this song. John’s vocals are just next level, he is a vocal powerhouse. If you don’t feel emotional listening to this then you can’t be human lol. Thanks heaps for the great reaction. Can you please check out John Farnham “burn for you” live the concert where he’s wearing the black shirt. This song is about John’s wife and how he missed her going on tour, it’s a ballad and acoustic live performance
I saw this production in Brisbane with my husband and three kids. Kids aged 8, 10, 14. They were mesmerised. Before the actors go on stage, they take a position at the end of audience aisle seats. Jon Stephen’s sat next to me. Watching my kids faces during the performance was amazing. They were entranced and moved by the whole production.
Hi @rossmanv6 ... Your's is a huge compliment. I so appreciate it. I love this song and I loved John's interpretation of it. Totally excellent! Thank you for subscribing. Rock 'n' roll forever ...
I love John’s version and also Ian Gillan’s. Ben Foster also totally nails this song in the later Australian production- especially towards the end where some of the notes he holds are unbelievable. I strongly recommend you also look at John’s performance of Dear Jerusalem from this same show- you will find it in high quality on my page. It is absolutely mesmerising. Stunning. Breathtaking. ❤
Hi @Dr_KAP ... I agree, Ian's original version is excellent. Ian has that voice to hit all those high notes. Ted Neeley's version from the movie always sends chilles up my spine. I was super impressed by John's version. It is interesting that he was dressed in more modern clothes giving the song a more updated look. The rotating stage was also a nice touch so the audience had a good view of John. Then John's vocals, wow, loved his interpretation. I will have to check out the Ben Foster version. Dear Jerusalem by John may be a future reaction. Thank you for your wonderful comment. Enjoy ...
@@drivingwithtodd1781 agree ! I feel the same way about this song as you do. I just watched Ben Forster’s version again and omg wow !! some of the notes he hits in the powerful moments of the song- seriously please please watch it and let me know your thoughts.
@@drivingwithtodd1781Aussie here. I totally agree with you about Ted Neely. He was the original JC in the film production, and set the gold standard. He has aged with the role over the decades and this adds a gravitas and brokenness to his performance. And then there's his wail of grief that sears through you to your core. He certainly made the role his own.
Hi Kappy I really love the Jerusalem song - John is simply amazing. I memorised the whole show when I was young because I used to play the record constantly in my teens and I saw the movie too, which was fantastic. We teenage girls loved Ted Neely. I know I'm a little bias and of course the type of show this was is different to Ians, Trevor's and Ted's but John really did put everything into this and it really shows. He reckons he can't act - he called himself a buffoon once LOL! So humble and genuine. Love him ❤️
@@AussieDebb he did a great job. He doesn’t reach the notes that Ben Forster did but his tone is stunning and his interpretation is very emotional. I love all the versions not sure which is my favourite !!
John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time. The passion and emotion he puts into every performance is epic. John can sing anything, any genre. Such an awesome performance.
I had a brief look back at what you have seen, you have done lots of Olivia Newton-John. You will love her singing with John with the song Please Don't Ask Me. At the time Olivia and another singer Anthony Warlow were fresh into remission for their cancer, and John wanted to help them get moving again and organized the trio to sing at a concert they called The Main Event. John has a very large catalogue of all different sorts of music genre's. He can also be heard in the background of quite a few songs by other artists doing simple back up vocals. He has also sung with many legendary names and groups, and also has his own fan base from some of those big well known names that adore him.
Thank you for this great reaction. John is a beloved legend here in Australia. His vocal range is phenomenal, and he can sing anything, in just about any genre, even opera. Please react to him singing 'Help' from Classic Jack live concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The emotion that he puts into his version of 'Help' is mind blowing. I've heard it dozens of times, and it still brings me to tears every time. I recommend that you always listen to John live. The studio versions of his songs are excellent, but he truly shines in his live performances. His stage presence, mike stand tricks, silly jokes, and his interaction with his audience and love for them are second to none. I've subscribed to your channel, so more Farnsey please.
Your appreciation of this song helped me appreciate it better because even though I love John, and had been to the original stageshow of Superstar back in the day, I had trouble liking this particular song. Now I do! Thankyou!
I've heard quite a few versions of this song and I think John's is the best. Of course as we all know, his voice is phenomenal but the emotion he puts into this version is mind blowing.
John's performance in this was incredible....Also referred to as The Agony in the Garden....which I think John shows that to perfection. At the end as he stands there looking up to the 'heavens' The audience are silent and not a sound till he sings that end so hauntedly I always have chills. Great reaction Todd.
I had the good fortune to see this production when it was playing in Brisbane, and it was unforgettable. I'd seen JC twice before in the usual stage setting and l loved them too, and it's hard to compare those performances to this concert in-the-round style production, sans stage and with an updated, more hard core sound. Even so, this is the performance that stays with me, as it was a star studded cast. The entire concert is available on UA-cam by the way, and if you watch to the end, you'll see Tim Rice himself in the audience, having flown from London to give it his stamp of approval. Thank you for choosing this. Yours is the first reaction I've come across by someone who has actually seen JC Superstar. And that's just sad.
I saw the original Superstar in Australia, back in 1974 (I think). Trevor White was Jesus and he was remarkable, wonderful. But John takes it all to another level.
I'm so glad you did this one as you love it so much! I just think it's incredible all the variation John brings into his performances to serve the song and in this case the character. Couldn't love him more.
I love this version of John's over others because the others are great vocal performances, but John brings you in and you believe he is having a real conversation /argument with his Father. You also truly feel the battle of wills and emotions as he has that conversation. I saw a reactor who swore Gillam's version would be the only one for him - then had to nudge his childhood favourite to just a smidge lower than John's version - the man can just bring you into his emotions in a song. Thanks for understanding the meaning - I have seen many people who have no understanding of even what/where Gethsemane is let alone the Superstar Rock Opera.
Thankyou for reacting to this. It was watching John sing this on another reaction channel that made me want to watch this entire production, and it was so good.
Totally big smile of my face too. Thankyou...great reaction. I knew when you said that you have loved the performances by Ted Nealy and Ian Gillan, that you would understand the song and appreciate the rock spin that John put onto it. Each of their performances are iconic and i think John certainly adds a whole new level to it with his powerful vocals. You might like yo also check out the cast performing Everythings Alright in which John also performs along with Kate Cebrano, and Jon Stevens and the rest of the cast .
Hi @carolynh8866 ... Yes, John definitely put a different spin on the song, but if felt right and told the story with great emotion. I have the need to check out other performances from this 1992 version of "JCS" as you mention. Maybe even another reaction. Thank you for the wonderful comment. Keep rockin' ...
Everything's Alright is performed during our Saturday night show, Hey, Hey It's Saturday - we couldn't go out on Saturday night without watching this show first, it set the scene for a great night out!
Great reaction thanks. This was a later concert version as you can probably tell by the music arrangement. John's voice and interpretation is phenomenal. His versatility knows no bounds. I hope you do more of it. Everything's Alright, with Kate Ceberano, John Stevens and John Farnham is one of my favorites.
Such a wonderful reaction, not only John's incredible voice and interpretation but explaining to viewers what it was all about. Thank you.💞💯 there is another clip performed by the all the cast of "JC Superstar" they did on a TV show called "Hey, Hey it's Saturday", it features a couple of other Australian performers... Where possible, review John's Live performances. His official releases are very good but 'Live', his talent and showmanship, come to the fore. One of my favourites (and I've seen all of his performances hundreds of times ) is When the War is Over...the last time which I recommend you review. The Farnham journey is a long one but at the end you will ask yourself why you hadn't heard of him sooner.
Try the ensemble cast on the Hey, Hey it's Saturday show, everything's alright, with Kate Ceberano and Jon Stevens, Farnsey was JC himself and they did a bonus, though you may get blocked.
John is an amazing singer and beautiful person and I agree with your review but I must say I had the luck to hear a voice this past week that out does any other I have heard. You need to listen to Dan Vasc sing Gethsemane. NO ONE does it better!! Then listen to him do Amazing Grace… god given voice!!
John can sing anything. He is the ultimate performer.
