I don’t believe H2A visas are capped. The problem is it takes two years to get a 6 month worker visa and farmers often can’t predict their labor needs that far in advance. Also workers work for multiple farms and no single farm wants to pay the sponsorship fees. The program is flawed.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how immigration works in this country and in Florida. Migrant work is typically seasonal (because agriculture and harvesting is… seasonal). migrant denotes workers who are in a transitory state WRT their residence. The numbers this segment highlights are describing tens of thousands of essential workers who travel to the state for a seasonal position before returning home (and home could be another state or country). Agriculture is a difficult industry to try and crack down on immigration. Many states have tried (and failed) because in politics, immigration is only used as a propaganda tool as you’ve used it here. Immigration is not disrupting any industries. Get a truck and go to the big cities and transport workers. Unemployed can't afford transport or cars. Someone is transporting illegals here in America. LaRaza?
I don’t believe H2A visas are capped. The problem is it takes two years to get a 6 month worker visa and farmers often can’t predict their labor needs that far in advance. Also workers work for multiple farms and no single farm wants to pay the sponsorship fees. The program is flawed.
My adult daughter has been in Australia on a work visa, now she wants to become a Au citizen. The way the US is going, I am ready to get my other kiddo over there! The Au poisonous critters are easier to spot than the ones here in America!

Finally, someone with vision. You get it. Meanwhile, the conspiracies about "Bill Gates owning all the farm land" spread amongst the right, in the most ironic way.
I blame China surprisingly not the Jews this time
Florida's voted for this. 🤷♀️
Excellent point - and food prices will inevitably rise.
You act as if small farmers use illegal labor.
Some kind of freedom, huh, Florida?
Perfect to Desntis lovers.....
Yes it is called obeying the laws of the land.
*Cruelty is the point.*
That's the Republican way, all right.
Yes. It is cruel to expect you to stop using slave labor.
Since when is it cruel to enforce law's???😡😡😡 Why don't you let them move in with you???😊😊😊
No!!!😡😡😡 Obeying FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAWS is the point!!!😡😡😡
Be mad at the companies who decide not to pay up and go cheap. Theyre the ones who got yall in this situation.
Wrong ! It’s consumers. Look at how they whine. When companies try and cut cost by cutting gas station attendants, put in ATMs, eliminate carhops, self checkout, etc. So many businesses have cut hours because citizens won’t work like this. We have been bring in pickers for ever in this Nation goin back to importing Chinese to build railroads and pick pineapples in Hawaiian Islands.
Employer has to Sponsor immigrant, respect them, and pay them well, giving them the Work Authorization card, do not blame FL, blame the employer.
Nope, blame the racist scum in power.
So once again farmers will not have enough labor to do what they need done. They already know native born Americans can't do this work.
It’s more like “won’t” instead of “can’t”
Wont do it at artificially low prices. The wages will sky rocket.
@@benjaminrobinson9140 The prices will Skyrocket!, but people need a fair pay
No, won't do the work. Because they don't want to be paid "Slave wages."
@@AnthonyOMulligan-yv9cgthat’s the part folks always forget. Companies will always find a way to get theirs, whether it be the worker or consumer.
It's illegal to work in the US without legal status in any state. It has been the law for as long as there were immigrants. The law basically is telling law enforcement they can't turn a blind eye on this anymore.
Actually it is now telling law enforcement it can do its job.
You are not making easier for inmigrants to regularize their inmigration status so they can work legally either. So you don't give them permission, but also don't let them work ilegally haha.
Anyway, if you are doing this is because OBVIOUSLY you don't need them, so just go and do their jobs now 😂
I hope my people never go back to that stupid state ever again, there's nothing but disney and old people there.
The thing is... the U.S. depends tremendously on foreign employees, documented or undocumented, specially in Florida, as Floridians will not be willing to do a lot of jobs, not just agricultural.

I’m sure all dem proud boys can work.
Now latino truck drivers refused to deliver to Florida. Others are following their lead.
They are way too replaceable to do protest. That's the simple truth. Know why people in poor countries don't protest? When they do, they get fired and hundreds of others swarm to take their place.
And the crime rate is dropping. Just more and more good news.
Maybe they should get legal citizenship instead of trying to enter an live in our country illegally 🤷🏾♂️

@@undisputedtruth6176 Americans won't work those jobs. Why do you think migrants were doing them. See what happened in Alabama when they implemented a similar law in 2012. It was an economic disaster. Check it out if you dare learn the truth, bigot.
why can they just hive them work visas or worker IDs that way they are lawful workers ?
The DeSatanis bill worked as expected, the problem now is that all Floridians will pay the consequences.
There's no consequences. The republicans got rid of a people who are politically in opposition to the republicans. They have anchor babies to stay here and then turn it into a expensive socialist / communist state like California where you have little freedoms and big government.
The whole country should do this... Happy to pay more for legal citizens.

What consequences? Having jobs for actual Americans? My, how terrible.
Mexico is full of migrant workers waiting to come here legally on H-2A migrant work Visas. We have been hiring them legally for years and have never had a problem with getting help. Most people don't realize we have legal ways of bringing in migrants.
We do t need any immigrants and you're a traitor if you say otherwise
I’m curious: why don’t these Florida farms hire legal workers. Is it really because they can pay them much less or is it because it’s difficult to get the farm worker visas?
@@lamdao1242I think its because they would have to abide by the law and pay them a higher wage.
@kevinmalone3210 if it was that easy theyd be doing it more. The labor shortage is ridiculous
@@kevinmalone3210 Exactly, most don't because they don't want to pay legal wages. We pay travel expenses, provide housing and pay them legal wages. Another thing is when they are hired legally they have taxes deducted from every paycheck. The one's hiring the illegals usually pay low wages in cash and they pay nothing in taxes.
"They can handle the heat"
Sure, when you have no other choice.
America is in a weird bind. Evidently, parts of the economy rely on the labour of people who are not legally in the country. The nation continues to need a large number of people who are not fully accepted within that nation. Nothing has changed.
We need to make a 180 degree turn and become much better at welcoming new immigrants to our nation. We should be world class at bringing them in, teaching them our language, laws, history, and way of life. With birth rates below replacement, this has to happen. We're screwing it up big time. All for a few dollars of extra profit in the short term. If we had a better system those workers could be legal. Right now it takes an act of god to become a US citizen. If I've got a winning player I want him on the field. Not riding the bench because of some regulation.
@@JeffScott-1978 First there is no valid reason to let people stay in our country when they come here illegally. Second to stay i think learning to speak English should be a requirement. Third i have seen worker programs work successfully in other countries and think it would be an excellent idea. These countries with worker programs do hold up their laws against allowing illegals to remain in their countries and we should do the same. I do not want a criminal for a neighbor and anyone who enters this country illegally is a criminal.
I LIVE IN REDLAND. THIS IS ANOTHER LIE BY MSNBC... Look at everyone going apeshit over fake news🤣🤣🤣
@chelsealindsay4821 This county is predominantly English speaking. It's ridiculous to live in this country and hear "there is no national language". Every country has a national language. Even us. We speak English.
No, that's not true. The welfare state created this situation. There are millions of able-bodied Americans who SHOULD be helping with the food harvest each year. Instead, the welfare state has allowed the AG CROOKS to exploit cheap foreign illegal labor. Imagine if your local auto body shop, painting, and welding shops could replace all of its labor with cheap, illegal foreign labor. Of course the prices would be cheaper.
Florida> The land of unpicked fruits & GOP Nutz 🤷♂️
Few I bet.
I don't see any of you donkeys out there doing the slave labor. What's the matter? YOU too good to pick oranges for $2/hour? Mad you lost your slaves?
So he made illegal immigration...illegal?
Give your Americans the jobs!
Border problems could easily be solved by streamlining the system. Simply offer cost-deferred visas and work permits, along with background check for anyone who wants to visit and/or work. This way non-citizens could be taxed to cover indigents, and law enforcement could focus on real dangerous people. Too many resources are wasted on redundancy.
People crossing national borders are no more or less bad for the country than people crossing state borders. Population increase through immigration is just as good or better economically than population increase through domestic birth. The vast majority of people trying to get in could afford temporary housing to get started, but end up losing their life savings paying crooked smugglers to get them past our absurd restrictions. This is all counterproductive and just political pandering.

Yes, like they do in Australia and other countries.
Republicans LOVE stealing the money from immigrants with their legalized thievery.
Well, the governor is showing everyone he is not woke by passing a bill that shows how racial prejudice and discrimination is alive and kicking in FL. that part!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem is 90% of the crap work is done by illegal immigrants, not legal immigrants. Let all the illegal immigrants leave Florida and let all the agricultural companies go bankrupt. That'll sink Florida's economy and maybe the people will dump Desatan and his GOP imbeciles put of office.
This is a path for people to work while going through the immigration process. DeSantis is appealing to a very small base by denying them time to become legal residents. Once again he's hurting his economy
This policy doesn’t protect anyone or anything. Ron will lie to you say it’s about protecting “legal residence” or whatever but the facts and material outcomes beg, BEG, to differ
