- Now let's get this straight... before there was James Bond, OSS117, Jerry Cotton and Harry Palmer, there was Drake... John Drake. I find it hard to think of a cooler show than 'Danger Man/Secret Agent' or a cooler actor than Patrick McGoohan. R.I.P. Patrick.
The best Bond that never was.
I was able to buy all the shows on DVD...both Danger man, the early ones, and Secret Agent...and the Prisoner...which I actually won!.. from BBC America, in a contest they had...
Patrick McGoohan was the best and coolest of the cool 60's agents...
I love the music and it's so appropriate for this wonderful video. Patrick was incomparable. Thank you for creating it.
I still live in the sixties...
The music is amazing and the video is energetic - from a faithful subscriber who is always entertained by the jrrylpz Brand!
Very nice tribute to an amazing man...Patrick McGoohan. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Be seeing you!
Sorry, I usually list the music but I forgot. It is Syd Dale's 'Sky Diver' from the album 'Like a Breeze'... I highly recommend it.
I was thrilled to find this- an excellent tribute Patrick would have appreciated. Even as a child seeing him in TV shows and movies such as "Ice Station Zebra" I have always been fascinated by this intense actor. When he died I read a lot about him - he was an amazing creative talent but also an equally interesting person.
Heinz Kiessling "Sky Diver"
about three quarters the way through there is a photo of him standing in front of a magazine stand, above him in large letters "THE STAR" so very true and did he plan it?
My heart accelerates when I see an Aston Martin, and he is driving a convertible one, great! Thanks for sharing more gold nugets with us.
Great tribute!
I agree ... John Drake was the very best.
Peter Falk loved working with Patrick.
Thanks for the nice comments. The original tune can be found on YT. I like the 'High wire' theme from the later series myself. Cheers!
Personally I ALWAYS casually lift my hat to girls passing me at speed in sports cars...glad to see John Drake did likewise. Thank you for another excellent presentation, well done.
@vawlkee
glad to see someone agrees with me about the "secret agent" theme tune.
it was pants!
beautiful tribute dont know how i missed it until now. nice way to end the evening.
Well done, jrrylpz. I got into this show after seeing The Prisoner on DVD. Every episode of Danger Man/ Secret Agent is a-m-a-z-i-n-g! Most, if not all, where written and produced as small-spy films, with more reality than most of 007's movies. There was a lot of thought when they wrote John Drake: a real serious spy who is not looking to amaze people by the car he drives, or by his life style. The cherry on top was that he did not agree with most of the orders he was given (he'd even argue with his superiors,) but he did it anyway because it was his job. I cannot remember the title now, but my fav episode is when Drake is sent to Africa to find an agent who was selling information. His superiors told Drake the agent would have a fair trial. Drake finds the agent and delivers him to his contact, who would bring him back to the UK. Drake takes a different fight with the wife of the agent. He promised her, everything will be alright. Upon his arrival in London, Drake learns the agent was found dead, executed, on the road to the African airport. Oh, man, the face of Drake when he had to explain that to the wife, priceless!
Very Well put together, thanks for sharing.
You know it!
