Kris was disowned by his parents. I'm sure it upset him but he went his own way and lived his life according to his beliefs and dreams. Willie also lives his life doing what he wants and if you don't like it then to bad. They understand each other and came to respect their beliefs and became great friends. Love them both. God bless Kris Kristofferson .loved him , both in music and in all the movie roles he played, Me and Bobby Mcgee was a great song. And love why me, so very much. Was very hard to lose another big legend. But as they say a true legend never dies, they just go on and on. GOD BLESS !! ALL the country music world old n new. They are all 1 big n very proud family. I heard each one of them sing in Anniston, Alabama years back. They came at different times.Both were fantastic in their own way. Willie never took at break. He sang through the break so we sat and listened to him.Kris was also fantastic.Great memories ……..❤❤❤

If you get the chance look for a book titled, A Storyteller’s Nashville. It is a collection of stories remembered by Tom T. Hall who lived with Kris when they were both struggling songwriters in Nashville. Tom T. Got his first hit with Harper Valley PTA. It took a bit longer for Kris but he got there as well. It’s a wonderful book and an accurate portrayal of the frequently chaotic existence that comes from trying to make it in the music world.

Kris had a realness, that you almost immediately picked up on…. Which gave value to the words he spoke.. and obviously he had a lot to say, in the lyrics of his songs..
He was obviously very attractive to the ladies, not just his looks, but the way he carried himself, he had a strength about him.. which is something young men should pay attention to these days…
I didn’t watch this entire video, to hear Willie say Kris was one of the best songwriters ever… hell we all knew that… it’s no secret!
I watched because I still feel sad that he’s forever gone from this world, also, because my dad was born the same year as Kris… and like Kris, my dad didn’t live a perfect life.. but he left me with some things that I hold onto, that I appreciate.. and he will likely be moving on soon, as well
Look for the good in people.. it does no good to look for faults, like searching for a gold nugget.. take the good folks leave us with… and pass it on, to someone else..

Anybody that knows anything about Country Music the word "SHOCKS" is BS. Willie and everybody else in the biz, have always been clear about Kris's greatness.
Great entertainer, just loved him.
Few songwriters of his genre had his songwriting talent: he wrote poetry set to music while everyone else wrote songs with occasional poetic lyrics, even Hank, Merle,& Willie who are Kris’s closest rivals for GOAT singer-songwriters
I’ll add an additional edit:as far as singer-songwriters Kris was closerto Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen than his fellow country artists:
great lyrics with mediocre to bad voice. Vocals are where Hank & Merle were greatly superior; Willie not as much but still better.
Kris would have been a great and wonderful soldier & sniper if he listened to his dad.. he's now gone with no score.. But, he is still great listening to..
I am a fan of Willie Nelson, I was not shocked however....
