My grandmother's name was Odessa. She died on my lap in church 39 years ago. This song means a whole lot to me.. I was 5 when I hold her as she died. I miss her..
She's in God's arms waiting for you brother. Make her proud everyday till you meet her up there.

I am so thankful for this song. I named my daughter, Odessa and found this song shortly after she was born in May 2024. We played it often because we liked it. But NOW she loves it. I play it for her when she is crying and she stops every time (unless she is hungry). She was irate trying to go to sleep tonight and she heard this song, and immediately stopped. She now sleeping in my arms thanks to this song ❤
My Granny’s name was Odessa but known to most as simply ‘Dessie’. She owned and managed The Cowboy Cafe in Canyon Texas during the 1960’s until her move to Southeastern Washington state in the mid 70’s. Her pies at the Cowboy cafe were highly sought after. At the end of her life, Granny’s second cousin Bob Wills was often the topic of discussion. I was fortunate enough to get to care for and live with my grandmother at the end and during her final years. Many afternoons I found myself playing UA-cam videos of Bob Wills and his band for her on my iphone. Granny and her mother tended to Bill’s garden
(they were not fond of his wives or mistresses) Dessie spoke often of how her brothers and Bill made instruments from utensils and scraps because “we were so poor that’s all we could find to make music as kids during the Depression.”
Music was their love and drive and passion in life - it was everything they had and all they ever wanted.
Her love of music continued until the very end of her life. Not much has changed Granny. She was an incredible bass guitar player, she told everyone who would listen that she had the most beautiful great granddaughter - she loved me zealously and was extremely protective and thought I was the prettiest thing she had ever seen in her life.❤️

I know this song is about Odessa Texas, but I can’t help but think of the small town of Odessa Ontario that I grew up in.
I spent endless days in the creek across the road, or in the farmers fields out back just exploring and interacting with critters and nature.
The 3 or 4 years I spent there will forever be the highlight of my childhood.
Thank you for giving me a soundtrack to go along with the memories!

What a fantastic album. Charley is so damn good.
I’ve seen him perform 3 times in concert here in the Midwest, all were killer shows! Out of the 54,000 some minutes listened in my Spotify wrapped this year, Charley earned 4,500 of them. Every album he puts out just blows my expectations out of the water. It’s been a great experience these last 7 years listening to his music! There’s a reason spotify said I’m in the top .01% of his listeners. Simply can’t say thanks enough for all the amazing music over the years Charley!

Hey, Charley has been my favorite musician for a good minute now, and I'm genuinely surprised more folks don't know him. I traveled hard for a couple years myself when I was 18 with the alice pack, banjo, dog, zero money always, sadness forever, combat boots, etc.. and all of his songs just really speak to the pure experience of it. (Well, and Choking Victim, but shhhh...)

Grew up in Seminole TX not to far from Odessa. It isn't a place I keep on my mind to often.
First heard Charley Crockett on SiriusXM Outlaw station playing Just Like Honey and I was hooked! Odessa is my favorite of his so far but so, so many are a close second! I don’t often like so many songs from one artist and I haven’t found one yet that I don’t like by Charley!
