Awesome video! Dave's and Heroes are my local shops. But, I saw some that I need to go see. You have already inspired me to expand my pull list. You should do videos on the Atlanta comic convention and Dragon Con.
of both of these videos i’ve only been to 3 stores ( the one in griffin, book nook, and oxford.) very surreal to see these shops on camera. while book nook has it’s flaws it’ll always be the shop i bought my first flash action figure with my own money. great job on the video
My dad worked at the Fantasy Factory from the time I was too young to remember until the Recession hit. As somebody who spent as many days a week there as I spent at home from pre-school to my senior year of high school, I can confirm you would have loved to have grown up there.
It’s so funny how I was waiting for infinite realities as it’s my local shop and I was starting to get a little sad until I saw it at the end AND it’s your local shop too! Haha funny how life works, this has been the only comic shop I’ve been to so I’m glad it’s top tier! Earned a subscriber from me ❤
Used to go to Book Nook from time to time, the employees have always been kinda on the standoffish and rude side lmao. Always felt like they were judging you for your purchases. I go to Origin Story now in McDonough, it's average like you said but it's the closest to me now by a longshot, so I love it with all my heart.
This was a lot of passionate work and it's a fantastic video! Would love to see you do a trip to Tennessee or North Carolina. My LCS is Bosco's Comics, Cards & Games in Anchorage, Alaska. It's been around for 40 years and I'm very loyal to this amazing store. They converted an old car wash into a big and beautiful comic store years ago, with a gaming room that's also used for a monthly swap meet.
saw the first video pop in my recommendations(subbed to wait) finally the second part comes out. had to see what you'd say about the shop in LaFayette. I'm not even in to actual comics and pass the shop on my way to work but wanted to see what it was like in your video. thanks man
My first attempts to get into comics were thwarted by rude comic shop employees who intimidated me, so I get your Book Nook hesitation entirely. I have some decent, old school shops near me but the one I go to weekly is the smallest, doesn’t really do back issues, and honestly doesn’t have a great selection either. But that’s ok for me because they’re super friendly, I don’t collect back issues, and they can order anything I put on my pull list so their selection isn’t really a problem for me. The customer service aspect goes a long way. Regardless; this has been a fun series. If you ever end up in Texas, Ft Worth had a shop called “Holocron” that exclusively sells vintage Star Wars toys and merch. It’s like an old school comic shop without the comics.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that I have a few LCS's in my city in Texas. But compared to many of the shops in Michigan and Georgia, I'm realizing they could really step up their game. I would go hog wild in some of those shops! Thanks, Kurt, you're providing a valuable service to the comic book community!
Out of morbid curiosity I googled the shop that shall not be named that doesn't carry new issues and it's really a gaming shop. LIke... this channel has a focus and it's not gaming, fam. Great video, Kurt!
I saw you guys at media mania. I was lugging the huge boxed halo reach legendary edition to my car when y'all shot the intro. Glad you liked the store, it is indeed a hole in the wall but it's filled with treasure! I was hoping I'd find the video. I saw part one and was like that's the guy! So I subbed and waited for part 2. Good job.
I'm a regular at the McDonough location of origin story, and I've visited the majority of the areas shops and just wanted too echo your comment that their priced books are super affordable. i often joke with them that they must hate having good comics cause they price them so low as to get rid of them fast, lol! great series too btw, was glad to see a few shops i haven't been to .
Wow. I grew up in Bremen, right next to Carrollton, and used to frequent Quest a lot as an early teen, mainly for NEW issues. Since when did they stop?
We didn't actually stop. What we did was stop ordering extra copies for back issues. We have hundreds of standing order customers who get their new comics each week. We turned the shopping experience into a graphic novel store. We have a 20,000 square foot store that stocks trade paperbacks, hardcovers, and omnibuses. It's still worth a look as long as you want more than the latest issue of the comics (unless you set up a standing order for the books you want to subscribe to).
@KurtWilliamsReviews No worries. We just try to warn customers who are only looking for the newest issues. We have a subscription service for customers who want new comics.
lol when I’m in editing mode, I choose whatever 3-second clip of dollar bins that seems most valuable, and I guess that happens to be new mutants a lot of the time I love new mutants! I finally bought the last issue I was missing in the 100-issue run of volume 1
I just went to quest comics in Carrollton for the first time after living in villa Rica for months.... Now its weird that you opened the video like that
I liked the intro. On our website, we have a statement about back issues. We state that we do not clutter our store with back issues, but we still get hit with negative reviews because we don't carry back issues. It's just not part of our business plan. And it hasn't been for 25 years. We celebrate our 40th anniversary this May.
@@QuestComicShopCarrollton I meant more so because I have been in the area for months and a week after finding y'all this channel mentions you specifically in the way they did. Was more surprising than weird
Yo! He really didn't do quest in Carrollton! I thought it was a joke. Anyways go North. Do TN and go to Dewayne's in Kingsport...if you want to do others in TN whatever...but go to Dewayne's
Book Nook has this Simpons like “comic book guy” working there that lords over his little minions. I am often amused there.
Awesome video! Dave's and Heroes are my local shops. But, I saw some that I need to go see. You have already inspired me to expand my pull list. You should do videos on the Atlanta comic convention and Dragon Con.
Crossing my fingers that they’ll accept my application to be a panelist at Atlanta comic con 🤞
We from the Fantasy Factory loved having you here at our store Kurt!

I’m there every Wednesday morning!
I was born in Dekalb and raised in Stone Mountain. Thank you for the information
Infinite Realities is one of the best. Me and my nephew visit as often as possible.

Loving this series!
Daves Comics in Fayetteville and My parents basement are 2 of my favorite

Im not even from the States but I appreciate your effort.

This is my favorite type of comment, thanks for watching!

lol I think I know who you are referring to at Book Nook, there's a heavy set guy that's a real jerk and condescending to just about everyone.
Wow. I grew up in Bremen, right next to Carrollton, and used to frequent Quest a lot as an early teen, mainly for NEW issues. Since when did they stop?

I was dead inside: That's the deal lol
Quest Comics does sell new comics weekly. I get all my issues there.
They told me otherwise on the phone, I wash my hands of this

FANTASY FACTORY!, YESSSSSS!!!!
I work across the street from Steel Collectibles. Owner comes by a lot, nice guy.
The Moon Man comic was signed, possibly by the creator Kid Cudi. Which would definitely make that book expensive.
Titan Games and Comics is my favorite in the city
I apologize for my quest comics comment in the last video I’m new to comics!! Hahah. Love the videos
No worries. We are a graphic novel store more than a comic book store.
What about myth & fable in Rossville ga
More comic reviews in 2025 please 😀
Sure thing pardner
Was it Dr Nos and Galactic quest that got a 29 each in the first video? Thanks for the thorough review in both videos.
Sounds about right
I'd be curious if you did these visits undercover if they got similar grades, especially in particular, bunjee's. that dude is terrible, lol!
I wonder that too! But if an owner prepares for my visit, it just shows that they care and put effort into the shop 🙏
🎉Battlegrounds Baby! 🎉
Kurt, about every time you're browsing the bargain bins, you show issues of New Mutants in the bargain bin, is this on purpose lol
lol when I’m in editing mode, I choose whatever 3-second clip of dollar bins that seems most valuable, and I guess that happens to be new mutants a lot of the time
I love new mutants! I finally bought the last issue I was missing in the 100-issue run of volume 1
All three would be hipster is hilarious
