So happy to hear your going back to the longer videos. Love the kids as much as anything. Really takes me back. Your kids behave much like my family, respectful, etc. I have to say that I was disappointed with the short videos. Wondered if it was because of Abundant Plus. Thought you might be phasing out. You are #1, being honest, with a few other farm families running close behind. Love you all. Rebecca giving the kids vitamin shots, Gideon drinking every last drop without drama. Kids getting gifts, things they have earned too. Rebecca off in the distance next to Josiah, swept his hair. So much love. Heartwarming and much needed today, any day. Your videos are quality to me. Love the angles, content, variety, and much more.

Great insight. Good to get inside your brain for a sec. Honestly, I was being more topical. Sticking closer to whatever I thought was the main story of the day. Figured it would be better. For a time it was better my longevity. Really, I need to mix up the filmmaking just to keep it interesting for me, so I can last for you all.

Honestly, I actually prefer the walking and talking. I don't prefer the documentary style stationary lectures. It's one reason I don't watch Roots & Refuge much, as much as I love Jess, I just don't love her filming style.
I do enjoy yours where you're taking us through your day and physically bringing us with you, talking to us as if we're walking right next to you. That's one of the the things that attracted me to your channel and kept me here.

I loved the old videos because it felt like we were hanging out with you and actually getting to experience it as if we were there. When the music was added the feeling went away and it turned into something that was trying to hard to be professional. Loved coming along to experience the days challenges and learn with you. Still watching and appreciate all you do to help and encourage people. Your drive and self discipline are admirable. I just think if you push too hard to do too much, you and the family might loose the intimate relationship you have with your viewers and maybe some of the joy of homesteading with your family.

I love how you are ALWAYS thinking about how you can improve. Whether it be for yourself, the family, your business, the farm, etc. you are always thinking, planning, and working towards that goal. You are a good role model for your kids to emulate although they probably don’t appreciate it yet. They’re kids. They want to play. But you show them that they are an important part of the family, farm, and the business. Good luck with the new cow/ calf. Keep moving forward❣️

Its less about the length (I like the longer videos better) and more about feeling like we are "along for the ride". Meaning, "we" are around for the happenings on the farm. The last few months, we have missed out on a lot of farm activity and it makes us feel less part of the journey, speaking for myself. I have been watching vlogs and have that feeling like I don't know whats going on, that things are different and "we" don't know anything about it. Its absolutely ok for you to keep things private, but in comparing your current vlogs to previous ones.....I think that is it. Also, I LOVE the walking and talking so hopefully Dan won't listen to you....gotta keep the work moving along even if you are dragging us along.

Love the old style video! Thanks! The best part was at the end when you stated it took 45 minutes. The biggest disservice homesteading channel do IMO is when they make Premier One Fencing and animal moving look to fast and easy, The videos sometimes make it look fast and easy. When ever we have moved animals in Net fencing it is a lot of work and takes a long time.Don't make it look to easy cause it's not.

I grew up on a chicken ranch... we had a tool to catch chickens... it was a piece of heavy gauge wire... somewhere between #4 and #8... bend the end 10 inches back into a U, leaving a gap between the main stem and the u of about 3/4 of an inch... then flare out the end 3" about 20-30 degrees... leave the entire tool about 5' long... handle end can be bent back tightly to provide a thicker handle.. you can then use this to catch the chicken's leg much more easily than chasing them and tackling them...

I like the longer videos and the walking and talking. I often watch in the late afternoon or in the evening when I'm taking some time to rest, and I make a cup of tea or coffee and relax a bit. I know they say people's attention spans are shorter, and thus the shorter videos became popular. But as a Gen Xer who grew up before the internet and all these distractions, my attention span has thankfully been preserved.

I got very excited when I saw this video was 20 minutes long. Absolutely yes to the old style longer videos. I agree with you - the walking and talking is distracting and much better when it’s on the tripod. The way you filmed in the older videos with a tripod and a transition every minute is beautiful and very watchable albeit a lot of work which is greatly appreciated. I’m excited for you to go back to the old style and thank you for all your work.

I like your walking and talking videos. Feels like I am right there with you.
Most of the time, you are very smooth with carrying your camera.
Thanks for all of your teaching and sharing of your lives.

My kids (1.5) (4) and (7) watch your show together. Our favorite is when you walk and talk and show us daily life. My kids are less interested when your holding still and talking. We love watching you as you go about your daily life. We have a homestead also and it is fun for the kids to see other kids doing what they do.

since the tall tripod became a fixture, seems videos went to earthquake mode, sometimes I cant watch the jostling hurts...I love this farm. fam.

With all your work with the chicken tractors and coops, now that you are expanding your area you work. Question is are you seeing better tick control as you develop new areas? I would think various poultry help.

Walking and talking not a problem just so long that we aren’t focused on your face and miss some Important info
I’m a city girl (country at heart) can’t afford to go into a+
But I enjoy your family I like to see the working side of your farm
That’s what first attracted me was the working of the farmstead

@@theJustinRhodesShow I’ll never forget watching your videos all night when my wife and I had our first child staying up through the night allowing my wife to sleep. I binge watched your videos. You’re the reason I got a garden some raised beds and chickens. ❤️ Nothing but love for you and your family!

19:35 that’s a clean mustang, also personally I like the walking and talking because it just feels more realistic you know.

After reading a few of the comments and watching you for years a piece of advice. Your walking/filming/talking conveys a sense of energy that a still shot cannot deliver. By placing your camera on a tripod you start to look like your talking at viewers and not having a conversation. Some shots should come from a tripod but don't overthink a style just because you read it in some book or listened to a film editor who doesn't know how to edit your film style. It's working and helps you connect with your audience. Just a thought or two.

Great point. I'm also trying to make movies that I'd like to watch and that will interest me in making them.
