I travel about 80% for work. When at home, I use a Double Edge razor with a feather blade and prefer it so I totally get what you were saying about the DE razor. When traveling, I can't carry DE blades in a carry-on bag so I picked up the Braun Series 9 which is similar to the Series 7. Your video content helped me decide on the Braun and I don't disagree with a single point that you raised. Keep doing reviews. You are thorough, professional and objective. Well done.
I own the one blade and it works well for me. I bought the one with the beard adapter that has the “wheel adjuster”. That one gives you so many more length options than a bunch of different adapters with the touch of a finger.
I have the Philips One blade and Braun Series 9. I use small circles with the Series 9 when shaving my head and I get a very close shave. But like you said I using both. Your video was very accurate and consumers looking for a good razor should appreciate your honesty. 👍👍
I purchased the Braun Series 9 a few weeks ago and will likely return it. Like you, I've found it takes too many passes to cut the hair on my head, but does well on my face. All of those passes really broke me out the last time I tried it. To me, $199 is too much to pay for just a face shaver. I've used the Andis T Outliner and foil shaver for years, but they always die shortly after the warranty expires. Thinking about trying the One blade on my head.....
I feel the one blade cuts better on the head, but the blade is very small, so requires a lot of work to cut the whole head. It is a much better finishing tool than a complete one. The best thing for my head is still a DE safety razor and little shaving cream. Then I'll use the one blade to get some of the spots i might miss(around the ears and such).
I have the attachment for the Series 7 that does mostly the same job as the OneBlade does (being able to cut longer hair down to the skin), so using these two attachments, I can get a VERY clean and smooth cut with just one razeer and the two attachments (both fit into the same carry case together). That said, I would still recommend buying a OneBlade since these are MUCH cheaper, easier to carry and in my opinion, better at Body Grooming (since they can be used in both directions where as the Series 7 attachment cannot, which adds time to the shave). If you can, buy both, one for the main cut and so on, the other for touch-ups, and boom, you will have a very clean, smooth cut with no nipping at all.
series 7 seems like the ultimate all ine one if you dont want more than one shaver. I have the oneblade and it does a solid job,But i have to have another shaver that is designed more for my balls. Would you say the precision attachment for series 7 works well for down stairs area ?
Great personality. I saw this shaver and was like.. WTF is this? Electric, but looks like a regular razor? And this video has done a really good job at demonstrating it. Thanks.
Just switched to a series 7 from using a razor my whole life and I’ll probably return it. It takes an incredibly long time to shave even the slightest of stubble off my face and it leaves me cut up and rashy, while missing many spots that just won’t get shaved no matter how many passes I take. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or what but I haven’t had a close shave once with it. I’ve tried wet, dry, and with and without shaving cream all to no real luck. Disappointed considering the price tag
When I first started using it, I had it set to the sensitive skin speed which is low. When I did that, it was similar to what you are describing. Now I use it at full speed and it is night and day. Take that with a grain of salt though because I mainly use this to shave my head.
Great comparison. With the Philips since it is a clipper, I wonder if using clipper oil would sharpen and also help it shave better? Like the oil you would need to put on your Wahl clippers. I know with any steel there will be oxidization and corrosion over time especially when wet or humid, oiling will help with that also.
If your bald before you shave your head check the shaver foil before using, My Braun Series 7 foil has torn and my head is all scratched and bleeding, Going to have to wear a baseball cap for a few days.
i cant stay clean shaven either, after a week of shaving regularly my skin just hurts and get pimples everywhere. literally tried every method. getting tired now, dont mind rocking a stubble but i want the option of shaving too.
Does the braun series 7 or the Phillips one blade cause pimples, ingrowns or blackheads? Trying to decide which is the best in preventing these. Thanks
For me they both caused irritation but it took some time to get to that point. I mentioned that in the vid, and honestly don't remember the amount of time exactly. I've been wearing a beard through the winter. There were no ingrowns or black heads for me. Skin got red and rashy after awhile though. Still think both are the best I've ever used
@@MichaelWTurner Ive been using the gillette skinguard razor and its been giving me a lot of ingrowns and black heads. In your opinion, do you think these two electric shavers will be more beneficial?
I cut myself twice with the oneblade…once on neck and on lips, and it’s difficult to get all the😢 hair around the lips regardless. And sore longer than nick with blade. Would the series 7 eliminate that problem, especially for shaving hairs around the lips? Thanks.
I haven't cut myself with the oneblade nor the series 7, so I can't say. I don't use the series 7 all that much anymore, but I use the one blade on my neck maybe 3-4 times per week. Your skin might be way more sensitive than mine, or your shaving technique is very different, so it is very hard for me to say.
@@MichaelWTurnerThanks for reply. Never used an electric shaver before. Can you use an electric around the lips without fear of cuts? With the One Blade I may have pressed two hard as it was difficult to shave all the fine hairs with it. I have also read you need to be sure the One Blade is flat across your skin to avoid cuts. And, yes, have very sensitive skin.
For a finer lineup, I use hair trimmers to shape my mustache and beard. Wahl hero is what I currently use. I use the oneblade to touch up in between during the week. Like I mentioned to clean my neck front and back and also to clean the corners of my mustache. I do tend to keep the oneblade flush against my skin and not use the edge. Get hair trimmers of some kind. Andis t-outliner, wahl detailer or peanut. Something like that to shape around lips
I sold it a month ago. For shaving my head, I now use the cut buddy shaver or the merkur razor from this video. For trimming down my beard and cleaning my neckline, I still use the oneblade. I pretty much always have a beard and rarely wear a goatee. My skin simply can't handle it.
Was just wondering if you wet shaved with a shaving foam or just water in the shower with the Braun series shaver. Does the wet shave cause less ingrown hairs and razor bumps? Thanks 🙏🏾
I wet shaved with a foam in the shower, but honestly I feel my head does better with electric shave lotion and a dry shave. I constantly have a full beard, so I barely ever use it on my face. But I get no irritation on my head. Sometimes I use the Braun and sometimes I use a DE safety razor
Never used that one, so wouldn't know. Everyone's skin and hair is different. You should buy it from a place that has a good return policy and try it. I will say that I use the one blade on my neck with no irritation. I don't use the Braun for that area
Using the oneblade alone, I shaved for about 4 weeks before having irritation. For my skin that's pretty good. A combination of the oneblade and Braun got me to 6 weeks
i just got the braun s9 and i returned it because it was so slow and did not get all the hairs on my neck plus major irritation this philips is interesting. im also interested in philips trimmers, corded detailers, and panasonic facial hair remover
@@SunflowerSunflower-nb9gt yes its way better than braun s9 but its not perfect. I use it dry so no cream and its fast. Still causes redness on my neck. I changed the blade after one year. Depends on your skin. For me, I am able to go about a month without irritation, but that's about it. That includes hair bumps. It definitely does the best for me though
I am Middle Eastern so obviously my hair is extremely thick, coarse and curly. Not only that I have very sensitive skin as well. I used a cartridge razor and that gave me ingrowns everywhere, soreness etc. Used a safety razor since I heard one blade over 5 is easier on the skin. Still get loads of ingrown hairs. I’m considering buying the one blade as I want something that will take the hair length very short but not completely under the skin. Does the one blade shave very clean and close? Or does it take it down short and not completely clean shaven. Appreciate it if anyone could help
It cuts close but not as close as safety razor or something like the Braun in this video. It might be worth a try. You ever try using a set of hair clippers like an Andis t-outliner or wahl 5-star detailer?
@@MichaelWTurner I used a random Philips clipper which trimmed the hair relativity short but still quite long stubble. I was looking for something which does the same but takes the hair a bit shorter but still not completely clean. I bought the one blade and will try it and let you know how it feels on my skin! Hopefully it’s doesn’t take the hair too short and underneath the skin as this is a recipe for ingrowns everywhere for me
I am also half middle Eastern and dealing with a lot of painful ingrown hairs and red bumps on one side of my face now from a three blade cart. I tried a de before but didn't like it as my skin is real sensitive. I also tried a wet and dry electric razor and it just gave me razor burn and didn't shave close. I'm out of options. I might try a two blade razor or just the oneblade now
@@MichaelWTurner You're welcome. I have sensitive skin like you and sometimes get razor burn even with electric razors. The tallow almost miraculously calmed the irritation, cleared up the razor burn. I sometimes combine it with a nice, fragrance free lotion. like L'Oreal Collagen Filler. Shaving is very tolerable now. I use the Vintage Traditions Peppermint. Works well as an aftershave lotion too. It's relatively hard to work with, but worth the extra effort to apply. Give it a few weeks of consistent twice daily use and I think you'll be impressed. Downside is the pretty high price, but you only get one face for the ladies. :)
