I remembered the lines in a number of theses adverts, I couldn't believe it's 33 years since they were first aired. It seems like it was yesterday . They were happy days and I really miss them.
They cut scenes out of this premier (Shutting the shield door on Hoth) - I didn't realise till I bought the widescreen version a few years later... and my mate never knew until the Special Edition came out!
Was there no In vision announcement, or did the uploader not bother to include it in the edit?. Watch the Granada In vision of Empire Strikes Back from this day and see how happy the announcer (Charles Foster) is compared to all of the miserable southern announcers. There doesn't seem to be many uploads from the Granada region for some reason. I can't believe that Martini Extra Dry advert was still being shown as late as 88. I have a recording from April 1985 and that same ad was shown during an airing of Goldfinger. Some of those old ads back then seem to run for a quite a few years.
Most of my VHS tapes have suffered appallingly over the years, not helped by a number of causes, such as bad video heads being dusty and crappy recorder and excessive re-recording and playback which has degraded the tape over time, but at least (unlike DVDs) they will still play in a working machine, and even if the tape has snapped you can patch it up, but once you get a tiny scratch on a DVD (or some cases with some of mine not a even a scratch and kept in their cases) you discover it no longer will play. On recordable DVDs the dye underneath will fade over time resulting in loss of data (the Taiyo Yuden brand don't but they are quite expensive).

When the adverts are more memorable than the film you taped :)
My father recorded Empire Strikes Back when it aired on ITV on Christmas Day 1988.
What about copyright?
That advert for Harveys Bristol Cream was ludicrous.
It wouldn't look too out of place in Britain now!
I remember watching this live. It was the day I met my wife.

I've got this recording somewhere, but it's for the Central region. Some adverts are the same, but a lot of different one's too.
They must have gotten a vhs and some blank tapes for Christmas that day
Oh to be that age again tho...😳😳😳

Whatever happened to Monterez? Sounds like an interesting mix.
Debenhams sales are a thing of the past now too.
Nice trailer for Scrooged.
