This is how it should be done. "CMON is paying us to..." No reason to dance around the truth with ambiguous statements. Rodney and Pep are demonstrating that this doesn't need to be a big deal.
Please do all the CMON previews, this was absolutely worlds beyond their previous efforts :)
Very glad to hear you enjoyed it, thanks for the encouragement!
Agree!
yes this version was a PERFECT way to explain the game and what things do in under 20 minutes! Great job! I love the exact dice rolling needed to explain things. I bet it took a few takes but it looked flawless good job! :)
Great video Rodney & Pep! You got all the necessary info about the game in under 20 mins and in a smooth, fun way. Looks like you guys had a blast making this.
We hoped we could find a balance of showing game play, but not leaving people new to Zombicide in the dark. Glad you liked it!
Yeah it was perfect! Keep up the amazing work :)
This is too awesome. I haven't got Black Plague yet, but I was told (by reviewers and others) that this was the best version of Zombicide to get if I was interested in it. :D There are just too many expansions out there for the original game. ;) I'm super happy that they made a sequel (of sorts) for this! Thanks guys!!
Happy to share Steve! They wanted Black Plague and Green Horde to both be potential entry points for people looking to get into Zombicide.
Yes definitely Black Plague is the best of the series, and now with this new Kickstarter, it looks like the series will keep getting better! Do recommend to get your hand on Black Plague or try it out at a gaming cafe (if one is near you) and test it out.
Yeah black plague is leagues better than the modern series by a large margin.
The only reason I would recommend the original to someone now is if they really don't like the fantasy setting and they are happy with a game that isn't nearly as mechanically diverse/flexible.
looking forward to playing Massive Darkness as well (before anyone mentions descent and the like, my GMed dungeon delving comes from Pathfinder, D&D 3.5e and 5e. There is nothing wrong with speedy dungeoncrawl boardgames)
Its nice to see CMON got someone who is not "green" and inexperienced explaining instructions and demoing a game. Congrats besides your dice rolling you were great.
Ha! The dice rolling continues to "plague" us.
I was super excited to see you guys showcase this on kickstarter! This overview was so well done- direct, high resolution view on minis, and clear gameplay as always
Very kind of you to take the time to say - thanks!
This is by far the best "overview" game video in the internet... It is half a playthrough and half rules explanation... if the goal is to understand the game to decide buy/dont buy, this format is spot on! Congrats... but now I want more!!!
Thanks for the kind words!
My group learned the original Zombicide from watching Rod's video on it. Far and away the best game teaching vids around, just amazing!
Very kind of you to say Sean - glad you're enjoying the videos!
Thanks Rodney! This video has convinced me to back the Kickstarter!
Glad you found the video helpful!
Great video. So glad that CMoN handed this off to you folks. I would that future CMoN gameplay videos might have a similar opportunity for such professional polish. Kudos folks.
Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed. Kudos appreciated!
Thx for the reply.. ordered the Black plague today...2gether with some Paint 😄 cant wait to get my hands on it 👍
its better than zombiecide. i love the medievil feel. swords and spells and painting them brings them to life. worlfburg too. and green horde. then invader if you like space. i cant wait for 2nd session of zombiecide. adds zombies in washing dz. that looks more of a story with cards to telll you what going on and choices to make.
Fantastic! One of the best game play overview videos I've ever seen! Fast paced, fun and informative. WOW!
Very kind of you to say - glad you enjoyed it!
Really enjoyed this preview with both of you taking the reigns. More of this!
Thanks Cru! Glad you liked it :)
Thanks guys, this was super helpful and all the points you brought up were well timed, and placed. I'm excited to play!
Have a great time playing Donald!
This video started it all for me ... my first exessive spending on kickstarter. :D
It's been too long since I watched a Rodney and Pep video. Good stuff.
Great to see you in the chat again!
This was a great introduction to the game, thank you.
You're very welcome!
Game looks awesome. Did laugh, as in the time it took us to watch your video, the kickstarter gained $200,000.
It took off like a boulder from a catapult, you might say ;)
Weren't you supposed to roll 4 dice instead of 3 with Norse sword+shield combo?
Just checked with the publisher, you are correct, the armor bonus would have applied as well, allowing us to roll 4 dice, not just 3.
great video guys... very interesting, nice editing and rules shown clearly as tear! ;)
Very kind of you to say - thanks Jocinetu!
Very well put together. Really enjoyed this video. Zombicide Invader is coming to kickstarter soon. I would love to see your overview at prototype version!
Keep up your brilliant work :)
Thanks for the kind words!
What table do you use?
Also, after watching this, I'm for sure gonna go in on this. I already have BP, but the horde feature looks awesome.
This is a GeekNSon table. www.geeknson.com/
Great video as always guys! So awesome to see CMON working with you in this.
Thanks Wes, we hoped people might like this teamup!
The catapult should make sound imho
houseruling it for sure
Feel free to improve on my "catapult loading" sounds :)
should be included in CMONs inevitable green horde companion app!
I almost want to have the scene from Return of the King loaded on my phone with "Catapults!" just to play it every time it's fired.
I think the sound of the catapult firing and the sound of the projectile blasting on the ground kind of negate each another. :P
But as far as the rules go it doesn't make sound where the boulder lands either so at least one noise in each (catapult- and targetzone) seems fair to me
edit: but by thinking it through the target zone makes not a lot of sense because you need to fire the catapult multiple times in a zone to have an effect but all the survivors standing next to the catapult negate this by simply standing there...so the catapultzone should receive the noise to lure the zombies to the catapult to make it more dangerous to use
but i will think about this in the future
Thanks Rodney and Pep!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am really a great fan of your game play video rodney. You explained it simple, clear and most specially with fun.
I do not know if you have answered it already, when will you know if the zombies will split or not? In your video, it seems that they automatically split when there is 2 survivors even though the distance/zone is different or the other is 1 zone further?
thanks in advance
Thanks for the very kind comments Jonathan!
Do you have the time stamp for the example in our video where you saw a zombie group split the way you are describing? I think there might have been a slight mis-understanding. As we were avoiding going too deeply into the rules with this, it's possible something was left a little fuzzy.
In the meantime, here's the full breakdown:
Orc Zombies select their destination Zone, first checking for Survivors in Line Of Sight that have the most Noise tokens. If no Survivors are visible, they move toward the noisiest Zone. In both cases, distance doesn’t matter. An Orc Zombie always
goes for the noisiest meal they can see or hear.
Orc Zombies then move 1 Zone toward that destination Zone by taking the shortest available path. If there are no open paths to the noisiest Zone, Zombies move toward it as if all doors were open, though locked doors still stop them.
If there is more than one route of the same length, Orc Zombies split into groups of equal numbers to follow all possible routes. They also split up if different target Zones contain the same number of Noise tokens. If necessary, add Orc Zombies so that all new groups resulting from a splitting group contain the same number of each Orc Zombie type.
thank you rodney for clarifying. 14:33 & 15:28 and i recalculate the zone and perfectly same distance both as you have explained. kudos!
Great job as always guys. So this begs the question. With the imminent arrival of the Masssive Darkness Kickstarter hitting our porches soon, when can we expect the rules breakdown and video for that game......hmmmm?
I don't pre-announce content - too many things could change, so we'll just have to see :)
Oh, I'm very familiar with your rules and completely understand why you have them. It was just wishful prodding on my part for any hints. :) Thanks for all you do Rodney!
Great video! Any idea on how this will work with Black Plague is there included missions/set ups? How will the zombie and horde cards work together?
I believe you'll just be able to use the regular scenarios provided, but then mix in the cards from both sets, but details on that will probably be clarified by CMON in the future.
I know this was sponsored but it's a great review... I'm off now to find a green horde set to go with my black plague .... !
We hoped it would be more of an overview, than a review (we tried to remove all opinion pieces from it), but we are glad it was helpful! If you pick it up, have a great time playing!
You forgot to link your older Zombicide rules videos in the description of this video
Thanks Lindsay! Fixed :)
loved the catapult idea, thnks fr the video
A pleasure to share - glad you liked it!
So I have ordered Zombicide black plague, and I am considering of making a late pledge. What I want to ask is how the Kickstarter additions will alter the normal game and what do they bring to the normal version?
Hey Nikolaos, any questions related the Kickstarter and it's products would have to be answered by CMON.
Hey guys,
In Black plague there is a rule that zombies that have multiple ways to get to a target will split (You did this at 14:30 with the orc walkers). In black plague a single walker with multiple routes to its target would split into two walkers, each going in one of the possible directions. Annoying as this feature was, it was often avoidable through noise management, however the large open areas in Green Horde seem to make this a lot harder. Imagine the following:
At 14:30 the two walkers split. Now what would happen if the noise would stay in the same area in the next turn? Would it make 4 orc walkers? (both walkers can go to the right or to the top to reach their destination).
Now imagine the other heroes moving away and into the building with the dwarf and the blue hero taking a step towards the top of the board, onto the crossroad and making a lot of noise there. When the 4 orcs activate, each group can once again go the right or to the top of the board in order to reach their destination. the group of 2 orcs would split, the single orcs would duplicate, making a total of 6 walkers.
This seems to be a problem with large open spaces and especially difficult because of the hedges, removing the ability to use Line of Sight to overrule the noise. What is your take on the rules? How would this play out in the scenarion you play in the video? Would they keep spitting if the other heroes weren't there to interfere or did they change the rules with Green Horde to fix this?
In the example you give (again, assuming the map at 14:51), I would think both of those zombies would split, so you'd want to be smart about how you made noise that following round.
Making the open spaces that GH provides even more dangerous I suppose.
Thank you for your reply!
Pep, I'm a big Dungeons & Dragons fan. I own blood rage and cry havoc. How do you think I would like this Green Horde?
Hey Eric, we avoid offering reviews or opinions on the channel, so can't help there.
Thanks for the vid, great way to explain the game and great quality.
I have a rules question: Can a Catapult fire into a building?
Yep, you can target building zones as well!
i dont have this game yet, but i still dont get the concept of noise..
if you have one noise marker on the field, does that mean, that everything 1 field around it, will go to this point and if there are 3 noise markers everything 3 fields around will hear it?
also, how do the zombies move if they dont see players or hear noises?
a.e. does the horde just stay on point until they see or hear something?
Hey Necro, this is an overview based on a kickstarter prototype, not a full rules video - so I can’t help with that.
@@WatchItPlayed okay danke.
ich wunder mich grad wieso ich auf english gefragt habe
Amazing video! Pledge right after I saw this!
Glad you liked it!
I assume that the rules for killing the necromancer that existed in Black Plague are the same, in that if you do so before he escapes you get to remove a spawn token?
Also: SET BONUSES?!? AWESOME!
You've got I think right Ryan! Kill him first and a spawn point goes away.
Do Zombies no longer have to move the shortest path to noise, when they have no line of sight? You didn't mention it.
I'm a bit worried how cumbersome the zombie movement is going to be with these new hedge rules .Or if we are now going to see constant splitting groups.
They move the shortest path, but if there are two equally distanced paths the group splits into equal sized groups.
That rule is still the same. Any rules that were specifically new or different, we tried to make a point of highlighting. So anything you don't see, you can assume is similar.
Nice video as always! (Two thumbs up)
Cheers Khye!
Error on 15:03 ( please correct me if I'm wrong) two walkers each deal one damage ,thus the player loses 2 health, while on 4:30 it's explained walkers in this game deal 2 damage each, so the character dies.
The example you are referring two says they are 2 runners. Runners only do 1 damage each.
Right, and they already made one move, so that explains alll. My bad, guess I'm too hyped for this game to stay focussed. Keep up the good work , Rodney !!!
Did they remove the double spawn card mechanic from the deck??? I know personally it broke the game when using a Cabal of Necromancers so I'm thinking removing the double spawn should remove that issue.
I did not see any in this copy.
Ok, thanks good to know. Seems like they did that for a reason. Could be the Horde mechanic or all the complaints using the Cabal of Necro's. Thx again.
I've never played any of the zombicides. I've wanted to just never got around to it. I heard about this one and I might con cider backing it if I have enough money. Looks cool.
Thanks for checking out the video.
If you do get into the game.
This or black plague will be the best starting point. Ignore the original series unless you really really like the modern setting.
Mechanically the necromancers, armour, magic and such add a fair amount to the game and the dash boards are just gravy.
Thanks, this was helpful. I use their paints and have been thinking about getting the game. I'm going to jump in and give it a try. I would like to know how close the plain How close this game to the main Zombicde game?
It uses several of the same mechanisms, but has a number of differences. It's hard to define.
Do you know anything about the double casting? Is it sort of like duel casting??
This is not necessarily final, but essentially, every time the Survivor performs an Enchantment Action, they can select an extra target for the same Enchantment, for free.
Awesome. Thanks.
Question, a weapon that deals 3 damage to the abomination, also means that kills 3 regular zombies if i'm fighting with one hit? Thanks
No, each dice you roll target one zombie, and do the damage to that zombie only.
But after that it's up to you to decide if you change the rule. ;)
Thanks to Patrick for the assist!
I was just wondering, at 15:40 what if that singular orc zombie walker could make one more movement. since there's two paths to the nosiest space, how does it split?
Originally you'd put another zombie of the same type in the zone so that they could split evenly. I haven't read the rule book for Green Horde yet to see if that has changed at all.
You split a single figure by pulling a second copy from the supply, and then you move the original one one way, and the new one, the other.
Yep, it works the same way.
Thanks for the great overview:)
+Jirayuth Limratanasaran Glad you liked it!
so wait, if the horde spawns in the very last spawn zone you where drawing cards for, you are stuck with all the zombies from the previous spawn zones AND the horde?
Right. You don't remove any zombies you spawned in previous zones.
wow, also, if I remember correctly when zombies split because there are two same lenght paths to their destination if you can't split the group evenly (so that the same number of zombies of the same type go in each direction) you have to add more zombies, so for example if there are 1 walker, 1 fatty and 1 runner and they have to split you have to add another 1 of each so that they can split evenly.
but what I'm getting at here is that those hedges block vision but not movement so I can see that happening a lot here.
just take my explample, you start with 1 walker, 1 fatty, 1 runner and they split now you have 2 walkers, 2 fattys and 2 runners, but if they are not in a straight line to their destination and there are only hedges around and not walls, it's very likely that they will have to split again...
You've got it.
Shouldn't the Fatty that spawned in the building also had two Walkers spawn with it, or is that only from the original Zombicide game?
Not in Green Horde!
Nick Huston only original. :)
No idea about that, but that rule definitely isn't in Black Plague
That's right. Forgot about the Double Spawn cards in Black Plague (just checked the rule book). Plus with Necromancers, that would just be too many extra Zombies.
How do you know which characters start with which weapons?
Hey Nicole, this isn't one I did a tutorial for, and I don't have the game, so I'm not sure.
When is release date?? Cant find anything about it other than 2018
This is what I found: www.kickstarter.com/projects/cmon/zombicide-green-horde/posts/2077232
I still can not understand how it works if I run out of thumbnails to put in the horde or on the board.
Normally we'll do our best to help with any rules questions for games we've done a full tutorial for, but this was an overview video (and I don't have a copy of the finished game).
Zombicide: Green Horde... Green Horde... Green...
I was kinda expecting this to be a 'Plants VS Zombies' expansion. LMAO
Ha! Could be a future stretch goal ;)
when can i get this in england, it says may 30 but its still not here.
+qwertyman459 This one was being run on Kickstarter at the time of the recording, so I think you might have it confused with another game, maybe?
no look online. thats what it says.
Awesome vid
And this is an awesome game
When does this game come out?
+Don Griffith Hey Don, that's a question you'd want to direct to the publisher. The kickstarter page might also give an indication.
great review!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Nice review!
Thanks for checking it out Hiro!
is Zombicide: Green Horde hard to play
never played Zombicide
like to get in to Zombicide
It's hard to say Bryan. What one person might find complex, another might find easy. This video should give you an idea of how complex the game is.
Could have sworn that only the 1st ranged attack hit freindlies.
Not sure why that might be. Did you happen to have a page in the rules that said so?
good videos you do guys gj
10:49 same thought! 😂😂😂
Can we get another catapult?! Each hero should have their own!
In addition to the Catapult, you will get a Ballista if you kickstart the game !
Hey Rodney!
Hey Lemmi!
What does everyone think of the game? Is it worth backing?
It is our favorite co-op game and it has been actually a game to intro co-op for those who are not convinced that co-ops are fun :)
Black plague is a great fun game and quick to set up and get into.
It is a really nice break from Dming for me when I just want to have some fun.
Did you end up getting to try it out?
@@WatchItPlayed I never did! I decided to wait and I backed Ankh instead. I hope I made the right decision. We'll find out soon.
@@CosmicTavern I backed Ankh too - I guess we'll see :)
already backed and now that i watched this I want a catapult.... =o)
Hope you have a great time launching your own projectiles at the hordes!
i love orks so me got game me play and get killed by orks. then got new survivors and wow there some good ones in this game. just spent 50 pounds english money to get the ultimate survivors pack. ord fav made stronger and better. even got wolverine and professor snape. rip. great actor.
Glad you're enjoying!
one person hates cool things...
Theres always the disliker.
